Download or read book Design Principles of Rocket-ramjet Engines for Unmanned Flight Vehicles written by B. V. Orlov and published by . This book was released on 1968* with total page 478 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book, which is a training aid for technical college students, contains basic information on rocket-ramjet engines for unmanned flight vehicles and also calculated dependences and typical solutions used during their designing. The book is written on the basis of journalistic articles and monographs published in the domestic and foreign press. Much emphasis is placed on overall designing of rocket-ramjet engines (RPD), including engineering methods of calculating outlet characteristics, and selection of type of propellant, and also on determining optimum characteristics of the flight vehicle and automatic control systems. The proposed methods of calculating optimum parameters of flight vehicle, RPD, and automatic control systems ensure maximum flight range. Selection of RPD correcting devices and parameters of automatic control systems is produced on the basis of frequency response methods. When calculating nonlinear characteristics of control system units there is used the method of harmonic linearization, making it possible to determine the region of steady states and natural vibrations in RPD. Automatic control systems are examined which ensure engine antistall conditions and prevent separation of flow at the diffuser. Designing method is accompanied by numerous examples and calculations. There are given some typical configurations and positive solutions of elements of rocket-ramjet engines and their automatic control systems. (Author).

Book Synopsis Fundamentals of Aircraft and Rocket Propulsion by : Ahmed F. El-Sayed
Download or read book Fundamentals of Aircraft and Rocket Propulsion written by Ahmed F. El-Sayed and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-05-25 with total page 1025 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a comprehensive basics-to-advanced course in an aero-thermal science vital to the design of engines for either type of craft. The text classifies engines powering aircraft and single/multi-stage rockets, and derives performance parameters for both from basic aerodynamics and thermodynamics laws. Each type of engine is analyzed for optimum performance goals, and mission-appropriate engines selection is explained. Fundamentals of Aircraft and Rocket Propulsion provides information about and analyses of: thermodynamic cycles of shaft engines (piston, turboprop, turboshaft and propfan); jet engines (pulsejet, pulse detonation engine, ramjet, scramjet, turbojet and turbofan); chemical and non-chemical rocket engines; conceptual design of modular rocket engines (combustor, nozzle and turbopumps); and conceptual design of different modules of aero-engines in their design and off-design state. Aimed at graduate and final-year undergraduate students, this textbook provides a thorough grounding in the history and classification of both aircraft and rocket engines, important design features of all the engines detailed, and particular consideration of special aircraft such as unmanned aerial and short/vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. End-of-chapter exercises make this a valuable student resource, and the provision of a downloadable solutions manual will be of further benefit for course instructors.
Book Synopsis Subsonic Combustion Ramjet Design by : Antonella Ingenito
Download or read book Subsonic Combustion Ramjet Design written by Antonella Ingenito and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-29 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a step-by-step methodology for the design of ramjet engines. It explores ramjet combustion, provides guidelines on how to size the engines, and discusses performance analysis. The book begins with an introduction to ramjet design, including fundamental definitions in the field. It then discusses ramjet engine performance, and fuels which can be used. Several types of ramjet engines are then explored, and guidelines for their design are presented, including flame holders, injectors, and combustors. Finally, the book concludes with a discussion of the types of materials which should be used for ramjet engines. This book is of interest to engine designers and engineers, researchers, and graduate students, as it collates research in a succinct, clear guide to the issue of designing ramjet engines.

Book excerpt: In this book the information on the theory, characteristics, construction, and design of subsonic and supersonic ramjet engines is based on domestic and foreign materials which have been published in the form of books and magazine articles. The theory of the basic elements of the engine - diffusers, combustion chambers, and jet nozzles -- is considered, as well as the operation of the entire engine. Molecular and even atomic fuels are regarded as sources of energy. This book is intended for engineers who are specialists in aircraft engine construction, and for students in higher educational aviation institutions who are familiar with the fundamentals of thermodynamics and gas dynamics.
