Book Synopsis Dendrimers in Medicine by : Barbara Klajnert
Download or read book Dendrimers in Medicine written by Barbara Klajnert and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dendrimer is a common name of polymers which are characterised by a specific structure, although their chemical composition can be very different. Dendrimers display several characteristics which distinguish them from linear polymers. All dendrimers are synthesised by attaching branched monomers to the central core molecule. Monomers are attached layer by layer. As a result of such a synthesis, dendrimers posses plenty of terminal, reactive groups on their surface and empty internal cavities. Both of these features can be utilised. Soon after the first synthesis in mid-1980's, dendrimers have become interesting and promising molecules for pharmaceutical and technical aims. The last years brought many new facts about dendrimers impact on biological systems. Both, general toxic studies, as well as detailed research devoted to particular cellular compounds, as DNA or lipid bilayer, were carried out. New types of dendrimers were synthesised and new applications appeared.

Book Synopsis Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for Smart Prevention, Diagnostics and Therapeutics by : Sathish-Kumar Kamaraj
Download or read book Nanoscience and Nanotechnology for Smart Prevention, Diagnostics and Therapeutics written by Sathish-Kumar Kamaraj and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2024-07-15 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book presents the fundamentals of nanomaterials, discusses the direct applications of nanomaterials to the biomedical sector, and explores the potential therapeutic applications of nanotheranostics. This book focuses on the fundamental features of various nanomaterials that are related to the development of biomedical technologies. These fundamental qualities are broken up into three parts: prevention, diagnostics, and therapeutics. When it comes to infectious diseases, prevention is of the utmost importance. Highly advanced nanomaterials including silver, titanium, graphene-based filters, and copper nanoparticles are used to fight infectious illnesses. Once the symptoms have been recognized in the patients, through the use of effective and straightforward nanodiagnostic techniques, the diseases can be accurately localized in either a qualitative or quantitative manner. Nanodiagnostics tools currently dominate the field of biomedical diagnostics because of their high degree of accuracy, low requirement for samples and reagents, user-friendliness, portability, and capacity to perform point-of-care (POC) applications. Nanomaterials are widely used in imaging due to many factors, including: their signal generation and amplification abilities; the ongoing development of reliant new imaging techniques, such as photoacoustic imaging and Raman imaging; their targeting potential, due to the possibility of functionalizing their surface with cancer-targeting moieties; their multimodality, since some nanomaterials can generate signals for more than one imaging technique; and their affordability. Modern therapeutics explores the various nanotechnological advances to cure the site-specific cancer treatment most prominently. The book explores the fundamentals of nanomaterials and discloses their direct application to the biomedical field. Finally, the book discusses future therapeutic applications of nanotheranostics. Audience The book will be read by scientists, researchers, and post-graduate students in the biomedical-related engineering field, nanoscience and nanotechnology, materials science, and bionanotechnology.

Book Synopsis Designing Dendrimers by : Sebastiano Campagna
Download or read book Designing Dendrimers written by Sebastiano Campagna and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-09-26 with total page 726 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research on dendrimers has exploded in the last 15 years, moving from the establishment of synthetic methodologies, particularly in the early years up to the end of nineties, towards sophisticated and wide-ranging applications. Dendrimers play an important role in many different areas, spanning from basic synthetic approaches to artificial photosynthesis, to medicine, to catalysis. The great potential of dendrimers is well-recognized by the hundreds of papers in the field and the increasing number of patents, and stimulated developments in other areas of knowledge, including new characterization techniques. However, some basic principles and methods still continue to give a unity to the field. Although several books on dendrimers have been published during these 15 years, the very recent progresses in new areas now requires a new point of view, trying to give a unifying and comprehensive outlook of the field. Since the first dendrimer was synthesized by Vögtle in 1978, dendrimers have experienced an explosion of scientific interest because of their unique molecular architecture. This resulted in over 5,000 scientific papers and patents published by the end of 2005. The proposed book will cover both fundamental and applicative aspects of dendrimer research. Chapters devoted to basic principles, synthetic methods and strategies, and advanced characterization techniques will be integrated by chapters illustrating the full potential of dendrimers in various fields, like artificial photosynthesis, multi-redox pool systems, diagnostics, biomedical and sensing purposes, design of functional nanostructures. Particular emphasis will be devoted to possible future developments.
