Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1997, twenty-five years after its first publication, Thematic Catalogues in Music-An Annotated Bibliography (Pendragon Press, 1972) appeared in a completely revised and expanded Second Edition. It contains almost twice as many entries as its predecessor; virtually every one of the original entries has been updated; and the following noteworthy features have been added.1. A second introductory essay detailing trends and innovations in thematic cataloguing brought about by the revolution in technology of the past twenty years. 2. Appendices listing thematic catalogues in series; both by national organizations and publishers; a detailed up-to-date, country-by-country report of activities worldwide; a listing of major computerized databanks. 3. New double-column format. 4. Numerous illustrations and reproductions of pages from thematic catalogues of historical significance. The second edition continues the policy of listing all known thematic catalogues and indexes, including those in doctoral dissertations, masters essays, and computer databanks, as well as in-progress and unpublished works, plus reviews, and literature about thematic cataloguing. The original numbering of the 1972 entries has been retained, with new items appearing in proper alphabetical/chronological sequence but with the addition of decimal numbers and/or letters (363.1 or 960a). Lastly, the original historical introduction and special appendices of the first edition have been retained with emendations where needed.

Book excerpt: Leverage hidden similarities and connections to succeed in new markets and avert emerging business risks! Firmly rooted in the latest cognitive science, Thematic Thinking helps you recognize your great opportunities and grave threats in distant but related industries and markets. If you're an executive, entrepreneur, or strategist, it will help you illuminate blind spots on your strategic maps and innovation processes, by radically redefining what you see as similar to your core business. Using Thematic Thinking to Achieve Business Success, Growth, and Innovation explains why this approach to innovation works so well, and how to successfully apply it in your business. Using realistic business cases, the authors show: How Thematic Thinking responds to today's radically shifting business environment, and the collapse of traditional market boundaries Why traditional approaches to innovation can often be counterproductive, and how to go beyond them How to systematically uncover deep similarities where most managers only see differences How to understand these similarities as immense new business opportunities - and uncover emerging risks you wouldn't otherwise notice until too late How to explore and combine themes, identify similarities, create and evaluate thematic ideas, organize for Thematic Thinking, and overcome obstacles to success Which Google manager would have imagined people substituting Facebook for Gmail? Which Nike manager recognizes the huge potential competitive threat now presented by Apple? With Thematic Thinking, linkages like this become clear - and innovative, once-hidden strategic options are revealed!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problems that we set out to solve were: 1. How do I understand the Book of Matthew? 2. Since the Scriptures testify that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is a mystery, how do I know what the real message is in the Book of Matthew? 3. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is written in parables. Therefore, what technique can I use to find the real meanings and messages in the Book of Matthew? 4. How can I know that I have found the right message? 5. What are the spiritual themes, topics, and doctrines in the Book of Matthew, how do I locate them, and how do I understand them? 6. How many doctrines altogether did Jesus Christ teach in His 3-year Ministry? Those were the questions that prompted this book – Thematic Dictionary of Matthew – Intralingual Translation of Spiritual Themes. In the process, we developed 188 chapters in answers to all those questions. The first five chapters were devoted to academic and theoretical fundamentals that support the research carried out in this book, and they were mostly reproduced from my other published books as referenced at the beginning of each chapter. This has been a qualitative research in as much as it aligns with a Biblical constructivist paradigm of re-interpreting Scripture in a way that impacts spiritual and redemptive thought. We approached this research with methodical data collection from the Book of Matthew. In fact, we did a verse by verse reading and analysis of Matthew followed by an in-depth critical analyses of Scripture and hypotheses, using both inductive and deductive reasoning in the process whereby, if Christians will verify and yield to the teachings contained in this book, their spiritual life would greatly advance to the acknowledgment of the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as recorded in the Book of Matthew. The research in this book also draws from two research methods: (1) Constructive Research methods, using the Perfect Harmony Theory of Translation and Interpreting (Pryce, 2011), by which we developed solutions to some 1,774 Scripture questions on multiple platforms, producing some 7,000 plus pages of Scripture Research, Bible Commentary, and other Christian books in the process. The full list of all my 99 books are listed at the end of this book. The second research method used in this book is the Empirical Research by which we tested the feasibility of the Perfect Harmony Theory for Translation and Interpreting (Pryce, 2011) to discover scriptural solutions to relevant questions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With Japanese Philosophy: A Sourcebook, readers of English can now access in a single volume the richness and diversity of Japanese philosophy as it has developed throughout history. Leading scholars in the field have translated selections from the writings of more than a hundred philosophical thinkers from all eras and schools of thought, many of them available in English for the first time. The Sourcebook editors have set out to represent the entire Japanese philosophical tradition—not only the broad spectrum of academic philosophy dating from the introduction of Western philosophy in the latter part of the nineteenth century, but also the philosophical ideas of major Japanese traditions of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Shinto. The philosophical significance of each tradition is laid out in an extensive overview, and each selection is accompanied by a brief biographical sketch of its author and helpful information on placing the work in its proper context. The bulk of the supporting material, which comprises nearly a quarter of the volume, is given to original interpretive essays on topics not explicitly covered in other chapters: cultural identity, samurai thought, women philosophers, aesthetics, bioethics. An introductory chapter provides a historical overview of Japanese philosophy and a discussion of the Japanese debate over defining the idea of philosophy, both of which help explain the rationale behind the design of the Sourcebook. An exhaustive glossary of technical terminology, a chronology of authors, and a thematic index are appended. Specialists will find information related to original sources and sinographs for Japanese names and terms in a comprehensive bibliography and general index. Handsomely presented and clearly organized for ease of use, Japanese Philosophy: A Sourcebook will be a cornerstone in Japanese studies for decades to come. It will be an essential reference for anyone interested in traditional or contemporary Japanese culture and the way it has shaped and been shaped by its great thinkers over the centuries.
