Demki and his two neighbourhood friends, Clarion and Ruby, are sent up to Vulcana, to 'fight war with peace.' They are aided by the lion-man and Kabulu the chameleon. Will the mission succeed? Will Demki be able to celebrate his 12th birthday? What fate will the people of Gondwana have to face?
