Book excerpt: Ron Pegg has been an active believer and follower of Jesus Christ for more than seventy-five years. This book is about the growth of his faith over that time and how it continues to grow today. The main ministry God has given him is a ministry to young people. He often states that young people are his lifeblood. He taught high school for thirty-four years and has been a volunteer coach of 213 teams, many of whom have won provincial championships. He has coached seven boys who have gone on to play in the NHL. Ron was a Sunday school superintendent for more than twenty years and was the leader of a Vacation Bible School for almost fifteen years. This year will mark sixty-six years of serving as a lay supply preacher. He continues to work on community events and projects that many of his former students are involved in. Many of these former students are good friends, as some are approaching their late sixties. Family is extremely important to Ron. He and his wife Cathy, to whom he has been married for fifty-five years this summer, are enjoying their new home in Mount Forest. They are blessed by their three children and spouses, who provide Christian leadership in their environments—and then there are the fourteen grandbabies!

Book Synopsis Faith Is the Victory by : Buell H. Kazee
Download or read book Faith Is the Victory written by Buell H. Kazee and published by . This book was released on 2014-04-04 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Faith Is the Victory is the most practical book on living the Christian life that I have ever read. As Christians are increasingly directed to a dependence upon formulas and fads to accomplish success, the summons by Buell Kazee for the believer to live by faith needs to be shared with a new generation of readers. The practice of adopting the programs and patterns of the business and political worlds with their dependence upon means has produced a worship of methods even while it has created Christians and churches that are materially prosperous, but spiritually impoverished. Faith Is the Victory calls for believers to remember the victory that overcomes the world will never be achieved through systems or schemes, but by faith. This edition by Buell Kazee is the first time Faith Is the Victory has been published with the three original articles that appear to this editor to have been the initial thoughts that eventually developed into this wonderfully helpful book.Pastor Kazee's spiritual legacy is not confined to Faith Is the Victory, but it is forever anchored to it. This book deserves the widest of circulation.

Book excerpt: A compassionate, shame-free guide for your darkest days “A one-of-a-kind book . . . to read for yourself or give to a struggling friend or loved one without the fear that depression and suicidal thoughts will be minimized, medicalized or over-spiritualized.”—Kay Warren, cofounder of Saddleback Church What happens when loving Jesus doesn’t cure you of depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts? You might be crushed by shame over your mental illness, only to be told by well-meaning Christians to “choose joy” and “pray more.” So you beg God to take away the pain, but nothing eases the ache inside. As darkness lingers and color drains from your world, you’re left wondering if God has abandoned you. You just want a way out. But there’s hope. In I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die, Sarah J. Robinson offers a healthy, practical, and shame-free guide for Christians struggling with mental illness. With unflinching honesty, Sarah shares her story of battling depression and fighting to stay alive despite toxic theology that made her afraid to seek help outside the church. Pairing her own story with scriptural insights, mental health research, and simple practices, Sarah helps you reconnect with the God who is present in our deepest anguish and discover that you are worth everything it takes to get better. Beautifully written and full of hard-won wisdom, I Love Jesus, But I Want to Die offers a path toward a rich, hope-filled life in Christ, even when healing doesn’t look like what you expect.

Book Synopsis The Victory of the New Man and Mysteries of God by : Joel Zao
Download or read book The Victory of the New Man and Mysteries of God written by Joel Zao and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2020-12-16 with total page 189 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book completes a series on Paul's Letter to the Romans. Chasing Truth focused on Chapters 1-8 of the Letter, All Israel Shall Be Saved focused on Chapters 9-11. This final installment is a discussion of Chapters 12-16, which illustrates the practical application of the truths of the previous two books, providing a proper conclusion to the study. Paul's Letter to the Romans lays the foundation of the faith he delivered to the Christian churches he founded in the first century. All subsequent assemblies, in order to carry out their rightful mission, should pattern their teaching and service to God according to Paul's pattern. It is the author's opinion that departure from the teachings in Romans is the cause of weak faith in believers, and inadequate preparation needed to successfully build up the church, which is Christ's Body.
Book Synopsis NEW TESTAMENT CONTEXTUAL COMMENTARY by : Dr. Robert R. Seyda
Download or read book NEW TESTAMENT CONTEXTUAL COMMENTARY written by Dr. Robert R. Seyda and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2024-10-25 with total page 881 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Now the beloved Apostle states clearly that if we love God, we will obey His commands. And those commands are not difficult for us to obey. After all, He came to be the Savior of the world. So, three things show us clearly that Jesus came from God. Those things are the Holy Spirit, the water of Jesus’ baptism, and the blood of His death on the cross. Therefore, everyone who believes in Jesus, the Son of God, will know that what God says is true. But anyone who does not believe in God is saying that God tells lies. They just do not believe the message that God told us clearly about His Son. You don’t want to be one of those people. Truly, we can trust God to help us when we turn to Him. We know that He will hear us. When we ask for anything that He wants us to have, He listens to us. This is especially true when we see another Christian doing something bad, this is what we should do. If it is a sin that does not cause death, pray that God will help him. Then God will help that person to live forever with Him. We should settle it in our minds that nobody who has become a child of God continues to do wrong things. Instead, the Son of God keeps them safe so that Satan cannot do anything to keep them from going to heaven. So I beg you, says John, do not put anything in this world or of this world before God.

Download or read book Battling Unbelief written by John Piper and published by Multnomah. This book was released on 2009-01-16 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pastor John Piper shows how to sever the clinging roots of sin that ensnare us, including anxiety, pride, shame, impatience, covetousness, bitterness, despondency, and lust in Battling Unbelief. When faith flickers, stoke the fire. No one sins out of duty. We sin because it offers some promise of happiness. That promise enslaves us, until we believe that God is more desirable than life itself (Psalm 63:3). Only the power of God’s superior promises in the gospel can emancipate our hearts from servitude to the shallow promises and fleeting pleasures of sin. Delighting in the bounty of God’s glorious gospel promises will free us for a less sin-encumbered life, to the glory of Christ. Rooted in solid biblical reflection, this book aims to help guide you through the battles to the joys of victory by the power of the gospel and its superior pleasure.
Book Synopsis WORKING FOR GOD! by : Edward D. Andrews
Download or read book WORKING FOR GOD! written by Edward D. Andrews and published by Christian Publishing House. This book was released on 2020-01-26 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: THE objective of WORKING FOR GOD is first of all to remind all Christian workers of the greatness and the glory of the work in which God gives a share. It is nothing less than that work of bringing men back to their God, at which God finds His highest glory and blessedness. As we see that it is God’s own work we have to work out, that He works it through us, that in our doing it His glory rests on us and we glorify Him, we shall count it our joy to give ourselves to live only and wholly for it. WORKING FOR GOD at the same time aims to help those who are laboring in vain, to find out what may be the cause of such struggles. God’s work must be done in God’s way and in God’s power. It is spiritual work, to be done by spiritual men and women, in the power of the Holy Spirit. The more precise our insight into God's Word, and the more complete our submission to God’s laws of work, the surer and the richer will be our joy and our reward in it. Along with this, WORKING FOR GOD can be a great help for those who have struggled in finding their part in the service of their Lord. Murray and Andrews seek to help ones understand that the chief characteristic of the Divine life in God and Christ is love and its work of blessing men. The Divine life in us can show itself in no other way. They have sought to show that it is God’s will that every believer without exception, whatever be his position in life, gives himself wholly to live and work for God. WORKING FOR GOD will also focus on teaching the imperative duty, the urgent need, the Divine blessedness of a life given to God’s service, and to waken within the consciousness of the power that works in them, even the Spirit and power of Christ Himself.
