While these costs may reflect variations in domestic conditions and preferences, they may also be the result of rule-making processes working in isolation and of a lack of consideration for the international environment. Thus, some of the trade costs of regulatory divergence may be avoided without compromising the quality of regulatory protection. Building on lessons learnt from OECD analytical work and the experiences of OECD countries in regulatory policy and trade, this report proposes a definition of trade costs of regulatory divergence and analyses various approaches to addressing them, including unilateral, bilateral and multilateral approaches. It focuses on the contribution of good regulatory practices, the adoption of international standards, and the use of cross-border recognition frameworks and trade agreements. Based on this, the report provides indications for policy makers on how to reduce trade costs through international regulatory co-operation.

In two parts, this title provides an in-depth analysis of the tax ramifications of Brexit in both the United Kingdom and EU Member States, helping to identify immediate and future issues that could be faced post-Brexit, and how to mitigate any risks. Part One features subject-specific chapters which deal with the UK statutory regime after 2020 as well as the impact of Brexit on VAT, customs and excise duties and State Aid legislation. Part Two is split into country chapters dealing with the tax implications in the single jurisdictions (the United Kingdom and EU Member States) for cross-border investments between the United Kingdom and the EU and for UK-EU cross-border reorganisations. This book is essential reading for tax professionals advising businesses trading in the United Kingdom or in the European Union, but also tax managers of those businesses. Tax Implications of Brexit includes contributions from Barbara Belgrano, Conor Quigley QC, Julian Ghosh QC, Kelly Stricklin-Coutinho, Nicola Saccardo, Roderick Cordara QC, Timothy Lyons QC and a plethora of highly respected tax experts from EU jurisdictions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This timely book provides the first systematic analysis of global public procurement regulation and policy during and beyond the COVID-19 pandemic. Through both thematic chapters and national case studies, this book: - explores the adequacy of traditional legal frameworks for emergency procurement; - examines how governments and international organisations have responded specifically to the pandemic; and - considers how the experience of the pandemic and the political impetus for reform might be leveraged to improve public procurement more broadly. Public procurement has been critical in delivering vital frontline public services both in the health sector and elsewhere, with procurement of ventilators, protective equipment and new hospitals all hitting the headlines. At the same time, procurers have faced the challenge of adjusting existing contracts to a new reality where, for example, some contracted services can no longer operate. Further, efficient and effective procurement will be an essential, and not a luxury, in the economic recovery. With case studies on Italy, the UK, the USA, India, Singapore, Africa, Latin America and China, the book brings together the world's leading academics and practitioners from across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa to examine these issues, providing an essential resource for policy makers, legislators, international organisations and academics.

In that case, any portion of the facility that can be made accessible shall be made accessible to the extent that it is not structurally impracticable. (iii) If providing accessibility in conformance with this section to individuals with certain disabilities (e.g., those who use wheelchairs) would be structurally impracticable, accessibility shall nonetheless be ensured to persons with other types of disabilities, (e.g., those who use crutches or who have sight, hearing, or mental impairments) in accordance with this section.
