Book excerpt: Enhance your enterprise application development skills by mastering parallel programming techniques in .NET and C# Key FeaturesWrite efficient, fine-grained, and scalable parallel code with C# and .NET CoreExperience how parallel programming works by building a powerful applicationLearn the fundamentals of multithreading by working with IIS and KestrelBook Description In today’s world, every CPU has a multi-core processor. However, unless your application has implemented parallel programming, it will fail to utilize the hardware’s full processing capacity. This book will show you how to write modern software on the optimized and high-performing .NET Core 3 framework using C# 8. Hands-On Parallel Programming with C# 8 and .NET Core 3 covers how to build multithreaded, concurrent, and optimized applications that harness the power of multi-core processors. Once you’ve understood the fundamentals of threading and concurrency, you’ll gain insights into the data structure in .NET Core that supports parallelism. The book will then help you perform asynchronous programming in C# and diagnose and debug parallel code effectively. You’ll also get to grips with the new Kestrel server and understand the difference between the IIS and Kestrel operating models. Finally, you’ll learn best practices such as test-driven development, and run unit tests on your parallel code. By the end of the book, you’ll have developed a deep understanding of the core concepts of concurrency and asynchrony to create responsive applications that are not CPU-intensive. What you will learnAnalyze and break down a problem statement for parallelismExplore the APM and EAP patterns and how to move legacy code to TaskApply reduction techniques to get aggregated resultsCreate PLINQ queries and study the factors that impact their performanceSolve concurrency problems caused by producer-consumer race conditionsDiscover the synchronization primitives available in .NET CoreUnderstand how the threading model works with IIS and KestrelFind out how you can make the most of server resourcesWho this book is for If you want to learn how task parallelism is used to build robust and scalable enterprise architecture, this book is for you. Whether you are a beginner to parallelism in C# or an experienced architect, you’ll find this book useful to gain insights into the different threading models supported in .NET Standard and .NET Core. Prior knowledge of C# is required to understand the concepts covered in this book.

Book Synopsis Poland September 1939 – July 1941 by : Klaus-Peter Friedrich
Download or read book Poland September 1939 – July 1941 written by Klaus-Peter Friedrich and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2023-03-20 with total page 1191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Executive editor: Klaus-Peter Friedrich; English-language edition prepared by: Elizabeth Harvey, Russell Alt-Haaker, Johannes Gamm, Georg Felix Harsch, Dorothy Mas, and Caroline Pearce This volume, the first of three in the series focusing on the persecution and murder of the Jews in occupied Poland, documents the developments from the attack on Poland in September 1939 up to July 1941. It covers the territories of western and northern Poland annexed to the Reich as well as the General Government. With the attack on Poland, around two million Polish Jews came under German rule. Jews were immediately subjected to stigmatization and humiliation, exposed to arbitrary acts of violence, deprived of their livelihoods, subjected to forced labour and forcibly displaced. In July 1940, a report by representatives of Polish Jews on the situation in the annexed territories of Poland sent to the US embassy in Berlin described a ‘downcast, stigmatized Jewish population’, terrorized and powerless in face of displacement, expulsions and the increasing incarceration of the Jewish population in ghettos, and it predicted that ‘the process of destruction is not yet complete’. The volume documents the drive by the occupiers systematically to confiscate the property of the Polish Jews, and the different, often chaotic and conflicting strategies for displacing Jews in the annexed territories and in the General Government. The volume shows a range of reactions by the non-Jewish population of Poland to the escalating persecution of the Polish Jews. It also shows the efforts by Jewish organizations to publicize their plight abroad, to withstand the onslaught on their communities and to manage daily life in the increasingly desperate conditions of the ghettos. Book Synopsis The Warsaw Diary of Adam Czerniakow by : Raul Hilberg
Download or read book The Warsaw Diary of Adam Czerniakow written by Raul Hilberg and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2023-11-14 with total page 438 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adam Czerniakow was a Polish Jew who killed himself on July 23, 1942—on the face of it not an uncommon occurrence in those times. But there is more to the story than the tragic death of one man among so many millions. Czerniakow was for almost three years the chairman of the Warsaw Judenrat—a Jew, devoted to his people, who served as the Nazi-sponsored “mayor” of the Warsaw Ghetto. His personal dealings with the German authorities bring to this daily record of events a depth of knowledge, accuracy of detail, and panorama of view that was possible to no other participant in the epic prelude to the final doom of the largest captive Jewish community in Eastern Europe. This secret journal is not only the testimony of an unbearable personal burden but the documentary of the Ghetto’s terminal agony. It is the most important diary to emerge from the Holocaust.
