Book excerpt: Everything we do, say, and think reflects our fundamental worldview. Whether we realize it or not, basic beliefs about God, man, good and evil, history, and the future inevitably shape how we view and interact with the world. In this accessible student's guide, Phil Ryken, author and current president of Wheaton College, explains the distinguishing marks of a distinctly Christian worldview—exploring the existence of God, the nature of creation, the role of grace, and God's plan for the future. Written for both Christians and non-Christians, this handy resource will help believers develop a cohesive worldview while offering unbelievers a succinct introduction to the foundational tenets of the Christian faith.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recent Barna research indicates that less than one in ten evangelical Christians hold a biblical worldview. A World of Difference seeks to change this disturbing fact by educating readers on how the Christian perspective is uniquely reasonable, verifiable, and liveable. Author Kenneth Richard Samples faced a profound test of his own belief system during a personal life-and-death crisis. In A World of Difference, he uses nine distinct tests to compare the Christian worldview with current religious and philosophical competitors, including Islam, postmodernism, naturalism, and pantheistic monism. Samples tackles tough issues through this in-depth study of Christianity's history, creed, and philosophical basis. An excellent resource for readers who want their view of life and the world to make sense.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An ancient philosopher said, The unexamined life is not worth living. There is truth in this thats applicable to the life of any Christian. Most Christians live with little thought of the reasons for their conduct and for their beliefs. Opening this to examination can be a challenging and very rewarding experience. It can also be the source of genuine peace and assurance. This book represents the views of the author, his graduate school class, and a highly educated Sunday class (one with a doctorate, five with masters degrees) as they wrestled with defining a biblical base for their life assumptions. The discussion can also be a lot of fun, as my students and I discovered.

Book excerpt: This book will irritate you. If it doesn't, the writer hasn't done his job. Not that his job is to irritate, mind you. Allan Moseley's job as author, and our job as publisher, is to communicate truth. But sometimes the communication and the truth may irritate just a little. It may make us uncomfortable. Or, it may make us very angry. Say what you will about Jesus of Nazareth, but you cannot say that He never irritated people, or that His message does not continue to irritate people today. He irritated the scribes and Pharisees so much they handed Him over to be crucified. He irritated the people in His own home town such that they mocked Him, refused to believe His message, and then threw Him out of the town. Even His own brothers did not believe in Him. And so Jesus continues to irritate people today. In Worldviews at War!, Allan Moseley preaches conformance to Jesus and His Word in every area of life and society. So is it any wonder that this message will also irritate each of us? No, you actually come to expect it. We can say all of this with some element of experience. You see, Allan Moseley's book irritated us so much that we had to publish it. That wasn't our first reaction, of course. Our first reaction was, "If we publish this book, somebody's going to sue us". Our second reaction was, "Wait a minute! The publisher that rejected this manuscript before we saw it publishes all those so-called 'Christian' books, the ones with all the depth of a bird bath. Maybe we'd better take another look at this!" So we did. And we're glad we did. Allan Moseley doesn't pull any punches. He points some fingers. He names some names. And he shows the damage done to people and our society byattitudes and actions which are not in conformity to Christ and His culture -- even if those attitudes are held by professing Christians. And so his message is more than a little irritating. But it's a "good" type of irritation. We hope that you find it's the type of irritation an engineer has when he finds that a piece of equipment he is responsible for is out of alignment. The engineer is irritated a bit. He moves to correct the problem. He makes the equipment line up with specifications. God's specification manual is the Bible. Allan Moseley calls us to line up our hearts, actions, and attitudes right down to the fundamental laws we live by-with God's specification manual. Always interesting, but not always easy to take to heart, Worldviews at War! will challenge you in every area of your life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This brief but comprehensive introduction to Christian worldview helps readers understand the Christian faith as the substance of Spirit-filled living and as a knowledge tradition stemming from the global Pentecostal movement. Using beauty, truth, and goodness as organizing principles, the authors delineate a Christian worldview by tracing each category historically, comparing and contrasting each with alternative Christian expressions, and constructing fresh takes on each as read through the lived Pentecostal experience. Unlike other worldview books, the authors' approach emphasizes beauty (relating to experience) rather than truth (involving knowledge acquisition); that difference in emphasis flows naturally from the Pentecostal perspective, which has traditionally centered the experience of the Spirit. Pentecostal Christians will find this volume indispensable for thinking lucidly about their worldview from a renewal perspective.
