Book Synopsis The Biblical Cosmos by : Robin A. Parry
Download or read book The Biblical Cosmos written by Robin A. Parry and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2014-10-08 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Welcome to the weird and wonderful world of the Bible. When we read Scripture we often imagine that the world inhabited by the Bible's characters was much the same as our own. We would be wrong. The biblical world is an ancient world with a flat earth that stands at the center of the cosmos, and with a vast ocean in the sky, chaos dragons, mystical mountains, demonic deserts, an underground zone for the dead, stars that are sentient beings, and, if you travel upwards and through the doors in the solid dome of the sky, God's heaven--the heart of the universe. This book takes readers on a guided tour of the biblical cosmos with the goal of opening up the Bible in its ancient world. It then goes further and seeks to show how this very ancient biblical way of seeing the world is still revelatory and can speak God's word afresh into our own modern worlds.
Book Synopsis Heavens on Earth by : Michael Shermer
Download or read book Heavens on Earth written by Michael Shermer and published by Henry Holt. This book was released on 2018-01-09 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In his most ambitious work yet, Shermer sets out to discover what drives humans' belief in life after death, focusing on recent scientific attempts to achieve immortality by radical life extentionists, extropians, transhumanists, cryonicists, and mind-uploaders, along with utopians who have attempted to create heaven on earth. For millennia, religions have concocted numerous manifestations of heaven and the afterlife, the place where souls go after the death of the physical body. Religious leaders have toiled to make sense of this place that a surprising 74% of Americans believe exists, but from which no one has ever returned to report what it is really like. Heavens on Earth concludes with an uplifting paean to purpose and progress and what we can do in the here-and-now, whether or not there is a hereafter" --

Book Synopsis How to Visit Heaven When on Earth and Not Die by : Clint BAKER
Download or read book How to Visit Heaven When on Earth and Not Die written by Clint BAKER and published by . This book was released on 2020-05-09 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a vision, Christ came to me and invited me to see what is happening in heaven and hell. After seeing Christ, I had ten out of body experiences. An out of body experience, is like a near death experience where your soul, travels to heaven, hell or into this universe. I did not have a near death experience, just an invitation from Christ. I was shown where souls of people who will not make it to heaven, will go. In my out of body experiences, I will explain what heaven and hell look like. How to get into heaven. How to let your soul leave your body and visit heaven, then return to earth, and not die. This was shown to the apostles and early Christians, so it is not new. If you have earthly wants, you might see a fiery place of death, because, you seek the world. I saw this also. I was shown where Fallen angels from earth are dying an everlasting death in a very dark place called hell, at this present time. Many thousands of years ago, fallen angels left heaven and ventured into the cosmos (cosmos being all the billions of galaxies) giving up the light of God. They may have lived for billions of years in heaven, however, when they left heaven, they gave up their eternal life also. I will also tie in the cosmos and how it fits into heaven, earth, and the universe. Just some of what was shown and said to me, on my out of body experiences.

Book Synopsis The Seven Cosmic Worlds by : William E. Camilleri
Download or read book The Seven Cosmic Worlds written by William E. Camilleri and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2020-08-03 with total page 301 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Seven Cosmic Worlds is a book based on the true cosmology of the spiritual and physical universe from when time was created by the archai, arch spirits of the hierarchies of the ultimate spiritual light of the ultimate beings that make up the Almighty God and His identity and how He created mankind and all the heavenly bodies. All other cosmologies that have taken away the source of all creation, all life, are empty in comparison to this description of the face of God Himself. It shows in this book that a mind beyond billions of years of thoughts of compassion and love created every molecule in every human being’s heart that has learned to love God in the way God loves mankind in every person that seeks God, and His love knows this Truth. The author has developed a unique channeling process that speaks directly from a historical personality. For example, Jesus of Nazareth in the cosmic world light shield where the author speaks through the narration of the book based on King James New Testament Bible. Also, the author has been able to channel the spirit of the Archangel Michael so much so that the visions through the images of this spiritual being are identical to the angelic personality described in the Bible. Hence, the author’s unique channeling process is presented graphically (both spiritual beings speaking to each other) describing how God created the cosmos.
Book Synopsis The Forgotten Heavens: Six Essays on Cosmology by : Douglas Wilson
Download or read book The Forgotten Heavens: Six Essays on Cosmology written by Douglas Wilson and published by Canon Press & Book Service. This book was released on 2010-02-09 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "There are more things in heaven and Earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy." So said Hamlet, but for some strange reason Christians seem to have bought this reductionistic view of the world. Have we forgotten the Bible? Our modern cosmology suggests that the universe can be explained through astronomy and mathematics. But this seems far too simplistic, not to mention rather dull. Are stars angels? Do satyrs truly exist? What does a seraph look like? Can demons tell the future? What does God's creation contain beyond the visible realm? In the following essays, such questions are not peremptorily dismissed, but are engaged with on the basis of what can be found in the Bible. We are not living in a world that can be easily dissected in a laboratory. Our universe is filled with intelligence and life, and the creativity behind it can only be understood fully through the Creator. This book includes essays from Evan and Douglas Wilson, Chris Schlect, Wes Callihan, and others.
Book Synopsis Romantic Egypt by : Elizabeth A. Fay
Download or read book Romantic Egypt written by Elizabeth A. Fay and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2021-04-07 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Romantic Egypt: Abyssal Ground of British Romanticism traces the historical, cultural and intellectual affiliations between Ancient Egypt and Romantic-period Britain and Germany, including the influences contributed by European thought, politics, and interventions such as Napoleon’s 1799 Egyptian Campaign. Until the contributions of Napoleon’s expedition to scientific knowledge of Ancient Egyptian monuments and ruins, Egypt had been largely swathed in mystical explanations of its past, its achievements, its beliefs, and its cultural importance; however, the increased knowledge about Ancient Egypt competed with the allure of a more mythically imbued antiquity in the Romantic imagination. Romantic Egypt argues that this balance between knowing and not-knowing, between deciphering and imagining a golden-age Egypt, between enlightened thought and mysticism, was essential to the development of the Romantic imaginary because, for the Romantics, western philosophy and art had their birth in the all-but-lost wisdom of Ancient Egypt.

Book Synopsis Thrice-Greatest Hermes by : G. R. S. Mead
Download or read book Thrice-Greatest Hermes written by G. R. S. Mead and published by Jazzybee Verlag. This book was released on 1906 with total page 468 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the edition including all three books. The so-called Hermetic writings have been known to Christian writers for many centuries. The early church Fathers (Justin Martyr, Tertullian, Clement of Alexandria) quote them in defense of Christianity. Stobaeus collected fragments of them. The Humanists knew and valued them. They were studied in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and in modern times have again been diligently examined by many scholars. G. R. S. Mead has issued a translation of the whole body of extant literature, with extended prolegomena, commentary, etc. There is a wide difference of opinion as to the date at which this literature was produced. Mead believes that some of the extant portions of it are at least as early as the earliest Christian writings, while von Christ assigns them to the third Christian century, and thinks that they show the influence of neo-Platonism. To affirm that they influenced New Testament usage would be hazardous, but they perhaps throw some light on the direction in which thought was moving in New Testament times.
Book Synopsis The Tao of Islam by : Sachiko Murata
Download or read book The Tao of Islam written by Sachiko Murata and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1992-03-23 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Tao of Islam is a rich and diverse anthology of Islamic teachings on the nature of the relationships between God and the world, the world and the human being, and the human being and God. Focusing on gender symbolism, Sachiko Murata shows that Muslim authors frequently analyze the divine reality and its connections with the cosmic and human domains with a view toward a complementarity or polarity of principles that is analogous to the Chinese idea of yin/yang. Murata believes that the unity of Islamic thought is found, not so much in the ideas discussed, as in the types of relationships that are set up among realities. She pays particular attention to the views of various figures commonly known as "Sufis" and "philosophers," since they approach these topics with a flexibility and subtlety not found in other schools of thought. She translates several hundred pages, most for the first time, from more than thirty important Muslims including the Ikhwan al-Safa', Avicenna, and Ibn al-'Arabi.
