In The Social Media Mind David Amerland illustrates how Social Media is a game changer. It challenges us to rethink our assumptions on almost every sphere where it is applied. Whether communicating through the web with potential clients, increasing the exposure of a business brand or collaborating with colleagues on shared projects, it demands that we rethink the standard responses which have guided us in the past and come up with new ones, for a new age. In carefully laid out arguments, backed by evidence and examples he answers questions like: Why do some social media marketing campaigns fail and not others? Why is social media so radically different from traditional marketing? How are social media success stories created? How can social media help save costs in business? Why is social media changing so many aspects of our world? What does it take to develop a social media mind?Over the next five years social media is going to change the nature of education, politics, business, science and even the arts. Its imperatives for greater transparency, responsiveness and engagement are behind the trends which are changing our world. This book is key to understanding how to prepare, what to do and how.

Propaganda is inescapable. It’s everywhere. Students need to analyze, resist, critique—and create. Media literacy educators have always insisted that we are both creators and receivers of media messages. The truth of this is even more apparent in today’s digital environment, with children and adults alike participating in a ubiquitous, nonstop stream of social media. Clearly, students need the tools to interpret news and information critically—not just for school but for life in a “post-truth” world, where the lines blur between entertainment, information, and persuasion. Renee Hobbs demonstrates how a global perspective on contemporary propaganda enables educators to stimulate both the intellectual curiosity and the cultural sensitivities of students. Replete with classroom and online learning activities and samples of student work, Mind Over Media provides a state-of-the-art look at the theory and practice of propaganda in contemporary society, and shows how to build learners’ critical thinking and communication skills on topics including computational propaganda, content marketing, fake news, and disinformation.

What if you knew how to create joy in any moment while being present in your life? 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗢𝗳 𝗕𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐓𝐨 𝐁𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐞𝐞𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐈𝐧 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞, is a book that explores what presence and joy are to each person in their lives. The book discusses the essential elements required to experience joy and be in presence in each life moment. Processing and understanding emotions is an important topic theme discussed which reveals the connection between joy and presence. Kristin presents "living in presence" in a way that invites curiosity to discover what the vision looks like for each individual and what is getting in the way from experiencing it. The reader can expect to be guided through thought provoking questions and resources that assist them with accessing their own inner wisdom to make living in joy and presence possible. In his latest book, Kristin Larsen shares, "writing the book was always about creating a deep connection to self and others. I wanted to provide a tool of awakening, reflection and resources that help people discover new choices by seeing other perspectives, and to find inner peace through the daily habit of presence." The book encourages taking the journey within self to open the heart to connection of authentic acceptance and expression. "Joy resides fully embracing the present moment whatever it may contain - with appreciation and curiosity." Larsen shares this thought with an important question,, "Appreciating the joy in life isn’t always easy. During moments of hardship, challenges, and setbacks, joy seems even less a part of our lives. Yet, deep inside we know that even during difficult times, joy is still within and around us. So why can we often not access it?" His intention is for the book to answer the question and give the reader the tools to access joy whenever they want, despite circumstance or situations. May this book offer you a way to create a vision of what presence and joy feels like in your life. Book Review 1: “This book is simply bursting with wise teachings, easeful exercises, and gentle prompts that show us how presence — and by extension greater joy and fulfillment — is absolutely possible for each of us.” -- Leon VanderPol, Founder and Director of the Center For Transformational Coaching Book Review 2: “The Joy Of Being Mindfully Present book is an excellent tool to help access presence and joy in your life through its many ideas and actionable exercises.” -- Gina Ryan, Host of The Anxiety Coaches Podcast Book Review 3: “The book balances ideas, reflection, practical exercises in a way that conveys a vital sense of being in presence and joy – Expressed beautifully throughout.” -- Ralph Lewis, International leadership consultant and coach

Book excerpt: Decades of campaigns and policy efforts have brought significant progress in women's economic and political status and pushed gender equality up the global policy agenda. The goal of gender equality, however, still remains largely out of reach, as illustrated by the recent wave of women's protests against sexual harassment, assault and gender violence (e.g. #MeToo movement). Some European countries (e.g. Poland, Hungary and Lithuania) have even seen their performance on gender equality backslide in recent years, and in parallel to calls for increased equality, a wave of mobilisation against gender equality has appeared in the public discourse. Conservative, authoritarian and populist voices in many democracies are now contesting the equal participation of men and women in society under the auspices of a "war on gender ideology." This backlash against women's empowerment carries considerable implications for anti-discrimination laws, policies protecting women against domestic violence, reproductive health and the establishment of gender quotas. Given the "backlash" against gender observed in various countries around the globe, we argue that now is a critical time to revisit and broaden our knowledge about gender discrimination, gender equality and sexism. Our proposed Research Topic will provide a gender perspective to illustrate and understand the recent illiberal turn in politics in a variety of contexts. Taking a comparative approach, we aim at improving our understanding of how sexism, discrimination and gender equality operate at the societal level, and how they shape broader social and political views. At the individual level, we will study the current, seemingly opposing forces—for and against gender equality— by analysing the antecedents, predispositions, experiences and motivations explaining and underpinning these attitudes towards different ways of gender equality (sexism and discrimination).

Book excerpt: The Complete Idiot's Guide® to Social Media Marketing, Second Edition, covers cutting-edge techniques for small and large businesses alike. Ask the Author Q: How has social media marketing changed business and personal lives? A: The playing field has been leveled for business. No longer do you need a 6 or 7 figure budget to reach people around the country or globe for that matter. Personally, many lives have been affected. Many people more connected, businesses have grown because of the connections, TV and singing careers have been launched, money has been raised for charity, books have been marketed and purchased, and so on. Q: What has been the most challenging part of utilizing social media? A: I think the learning curve. With all of these sites . . . they come with no directions and no LIVE phone number. Q: What has worked the best and worst thus far? A: Facebook because of it’s broad reach really has worked for me, but many would argue that YouTube works the best; particularly since it is the search engine of choice with the 11–34 age group. Q: How can a person searching for a job use social media marketing? A: So many ways. . . . They need to be on LinkedIn with a professional looking profile, photo, and contact information. They could also utilize video to begin sharing their expertise. Candidates need to stand out in a crowd of millions so if they say . . . sent in a video introducing themselves and a video follow up email . . . that would wow them! Q: What is the newest thing since Twitter? A: I believe companies and individuals are starting to utilize audio for creating their own iTunes channel, and also location-based social media like FourSquare. I personally, am not sold on location based services as of yet from a safety point of view, but for retailers it can be a good thing. I believe video is going to explode in popularity in 2011 for the 35+ market as well. They just need to get comfortable being on camera!

Book excerpt: "Bracing and immediate." - The Washington Post Once at the center of the American conservative movement, bestselling author and radio host Charles Sykes is a fierce opponent of Donald Trump and the right-wing media that enabled his rise. In How the Right Lost Its Mind, Sykes presents an impassioned, regretful, and deeply thoughtful account of how the American conservative movement came to lose its values. How did a movement that was defined by its belief in limited government, individual liberty, free markets, traditional values, and civility find itself embracing bigotry, political intransigence, demagoguery, and outright falsehood? How the Right Lost its Mind addresses: *Why are so many voters so credulous and immune to factual information reported by responsible media? *Why did conservatives decide to overlook, even embrace, so many of Trump’s outrages, gaffes, conspiracy theories, falsehoods, and smears? *Can conservatives govern? Or are they content merely to rage? *How can the right recover its traditional values and persuade a new generation of their worth?
