Book excerpt: The Schutzstaffel Array is a device crafted by Jewish prisoners of war that hides the whereabouts of Nazi stolen treasure taken from occupied countries. The treasure is Hitler's insurance should he lose the war to fund another uprising. The Array is a golden shield made from gold taken from Jewish prisoners of war in the death camps and at its centre is a secret compartment that houses the map to the location of the treasure. Around its perimeter are several golden daggers with gem encrusted hilts. When fully inserted simultaneously the compartment door opens. Without it, a vile of acid breaks destroying the map. Each dagger is to be entrusted to Hitler's closest generals, but before they can take possession the city of Dresden in East Germany is raised to the ground, the last resting place of the treasure. A crack team of British mercenaries looking to line their pockets for after the war, venture behind enemy lines after hearing rumors about Hitler's haul. In the confusion of the air raid the treasure disappears as planned but the mercenaries get their hands on the Schutzstaffel Array. Each take a dagger while the main shield is left behind as the bombing gets nearer. From 1960 to the early 1990s each mercenary is killed though the link with the past isn't made. One of the victims involves the New Scotland Yard detective Philip Graves who becomes embroiled in the investigation and the past and he begins to unravel what really happened toward the end of the war.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For over three decades now, silicon capacity has steadily been doubling every year and a half with equally staggering improvements continuously being observed in operating speeds. This increase in capacity has allowed for more complex systems to be built on a single silicon chip. Coupled with this functionality increase, speed improvements have fueled tremendous advancements in computing and have enabled new multi-media applications. Such trends, aimed at integrating higher levels of circuit functionality are tightly related to an emphasis on compactness in consumer electronic products and a widespread growth and interest in wireless communications and products. These trends are expected to persist for some time as technology and design methodologies continue to evolve and the era of Systems on a Chip has definitely come of age. While technology improvements and spiraling silicon capacity allow designers to pack more functions onto a single piece of silicon, they also highlight a pressing challenge for system designers to keep up with such amazing complexity. To handle higher operating speeds and the constraints of portability and connectivity, new circuit techniques have appeared. Intensive research and progress in EDA tools, design methodologies and techniques is required to empower designers with the ability to make efficient use of the potential offered by this increasing silicon capacity and complexity and to enable them to design, test, verify and build such systems.

Book excerpt: The real story of the SS, unlike its popular mythology, is so complex as to almost defy belief: it is a tale of intrigue and nepotism, of archaeology and Teutonism, of art and symbolism. Himmler's SS is a story of street fighters and convicted criminals becoming Ministers of State and police commanders; the story of charitable works and mass extermination being administered from the same building; the story of boy generals directing vast heterogeneous armies on devastating campaigns of conquest. Here, indeed, fact is stranger than fiction. Himmler's SS looks at the wide-ranging effects that the SS had on the Police, racial policies, German history, education, the economy and public life, as well as the uniforms and regalia which were carefully designed to set Himmler's men apart as the new elite in Third Reich society. Fully illustrated, this book is an authoritative history of the SS and as such will appeal to all with an interest in Hitler's Third Reich.
