Book Synopsis Church Dogmatics Study Edition 13 by : Karl Barth
Download or read book Church Dogmatics Study Edition 13 written by Karl Barth and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2010-09-02 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Karl Barth's Church Dogmatics is one of the major theological works of the 20th century. The Swiss-German theologian Karl Barth (1886-1968) was the most original and significant Reformed theologian of the twentieth century. Barth began the Church Dogmatics in 1932 and continued working on its thirteen volumes until the end of his life. Barth's writings continue to guide and instruct the preaching and teaching of pastors and academics worldwide. The English translation was prepared by a team of scholars and edited by G. W. Bromiley and T. F. Torrance and published from 1936. A team of scholars at Princeton Theological Seminary have now provided the translation of Greek, Latin, Hebrew and French passages into English. The original is presented alongside the English translation. This makes the work more reader friendly and accessible to the growing number of students who do not have a working knowledge of the ancient languages. This new edition with translations is now available for the first time in individual volumes.

Book Synopsis Three Days Before the Sun by : Warren LeRoi Johns
Download or read book Three Days Before the Sun written by Warren LeRoi Johns and published by [email protected]. This book was released on 2014-11-06 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three Days Before the Sun explores our origin, purpose and destiny in an eternity of time and an infinity of space! The "holes" and "flaws" acknowledged by Darwin in his evolution theory are precisely targeted with academic precision in a format designed for the general public. The scrupulously documented title dismantles the chance hypothesis, point-by-point, as a lawyer presents evidence to a jury. The 296-page, illustrated title comes salted with homey colloquialisms, methodically exposing unproven assumptions. But more than an exposé of flawed conjecture masquerading as science. Three Days Before the Sun offers a generic Christian glimpse of the raging origins controversy. The book compliments the faith of Christian communities who believe the Genesis account of the creation miracle while asserting the Creator of the universe is the Author of science.

This book calls on Christians to understand and engage the deep issues facing the church in a technological, transhumanist future.

Download or read book The Church in Fourteenth-Century Iceland written by Erika Sigurdson and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-08-09 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In The Church in Fourteenth-Century Iceland, Erika Sigurdson provides a history of the fourteenth-century Icelandic Church with a focus on the the social status of elite clerics following the introduction of benefices to Iceland. In this period, the elite clergy developed a shared identity based in part on universal clerical values, but also on a shared sense of interdependence, personal networks and connections within the framework of the Church. The Church in Fourteenth-Century Iceland examines the development of this social group through an analysis of bishops’ sagas, annals, and documents. In the process, it chronicles major developments in the Icelandic Church after the reforms of the late thirteenth century, including its emphasis on property and land ownership, and the growth of ecclesiastical bureaucracy.
