Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At birth, I was brought home in a limousine. I was born into affluence, an influential family and a promising future. At age thirteen, I had my first drink. My high school years were full of fun, friends, success in athletics and respect. I drank. In my twenties and thirties, I owned an advertising agency, a catering business, a used car dealership, acquired my pilot’s license, a thirty foot Winnebago, sail boats, a home, a wife, and three kids. I drank more. In my forties, I lost my advertising business, my catering business, my car business, my pilot’s license, my driver’s license and got my first DUI. I drank more even after admitting I was an alcoholic. My early fifties found me becoming general manager and Vice President of a multi-million dollar manufacturing company. My drinking increased from alcoholism to addiction. At age fifty-five I was cuffed and shackled in a caged bus to two years in prison with a felony 5 DUI record. My wife filed for divorce, I lost my job and lost my financial security through bad investments and legal fees. I found the exit off this road to destruction. At fifty-seven I am happy, spiritual, sober, believing in myself again and blessed with the return of my family, my home and my dreams. Get in and ride with me on my journey to sobriety and salvation.

Book excerpt: Greenies Path: The Search for Christopher Hiltaychuk presents a unique look at an adopted childs life told from the childs perspective. It is also a testament to the people who chose to take the challenge of raising anothers child as their own and loving that child as much as any birth parent could, if not more. Author Greenie is grateful for the loving care that his adoptive parents gave him, but he is also naturally very curious about the people who gave him up for adoption. Greenie is intrigued by the knowledge that there are people in this world with the same genetic history as hispeople with whom he shares an unspoken bond. He describes his life, thoughts, and feelings for his birth parents, the people who felt their own world and circumstances were not ideal for raising a child at that time. He considers whether they ever wondered what happened to one of their own, one of their brothers, uncles, or grandchildren. Greenies Path is the true story of the path his life has takenthe man he has become. No matter what paths lay ahead, Greenies Path captures that need for a sense of belonging to a family is such an integral foundation to their success in the world.

Book excerpt: This book is made up of many quotes that I thought up mostly while I was doing time in prison after I found Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. The same goes for the poems and the short writings. You will notice that the chapter headings are the nine fruits of the spirits that are listed in Galatians 5:16-26. The holy scriptures tell us that we must build our faith in God Almighty and Jesus Christ. I hope through reading these quotes and short messages that the person reading this will increase their faith or come to find that Jesus Christ and God Almighty are real.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: About the Book: God said, "We have created everything in pairs." This has to do with reality versus imitation. Our physical form here in this earthly life is only a reflection of our heavenly form. Like plastic fruit and real fruit, one is real, while the other is an imitation. This book looks at the nature of the physical world, the laws governing the universe and from this starting point, jumps into the realm of spiritual knowledge - Sufi teachings which must be "tasted" as opposed to read or spoken. It will serve to open up to the reader the mystical path of saints which takes human beings from the world of forms and senses to the world within the heart, the world of Gnosis and spirituality - a world filled with wonders and blessings. About the Author: Shaykh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani is a scholar from the Middle East. He graduated with a B.A. in Chemistry from the American University of Beirut and then went to Louvain, Belgium to continue his medical studies. He later received his Islamic law degree, then went on to study the Sufi spiritual path with two great master of wisdom. Other books by the shaykh include: The Naqshbandi Sufi way, Angels Unveiled, Encyclopedia of Islamic Doctrine (7 volumes), and Women Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (with Dr. L. Bakhtiar). Shaykh Kabbani is the chairman of the Islamic Supreme Council of America, an educational organization based in Michigan.

Look beyond the surface-level problems to discover the root causes of both personal and marital relationship issues. Break free from the shame and guilt of adultery and other past mistakes. Learn how to apply Scripture to your life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Grow in your understanding of God’s love and grace for you, regardless of your past. Book excerpt: This book brings together different perspectives of mega-event bidding, hosting and legacies. Their impact is considered through an international range of mega-events in terms of land use, political and socio-economic change, and the placemaking processes that accompany these area-based regeneration projects. From city-regions that have not been successful or withdrawn from mega-event selection, to contemporary Olympic, Football World Cup and Expo host cities whose legacy is still unfolding, to event sites whose legacy is now established, the global appeal of the mega-event is apparent from this collection. The book interrogates the mega-event phenomenon in ten countries, from North and South America, and Australia, to Western and Eastern Europe. Drawing on their historical evolution and antecedents, and following recurrent themes of urban regeneration and resistance, the book highlights the importance of major events and festivals to the creation and marketing of place through branding and regional growth In considering a range of mega-events critically and in different national and geopolitical contexts, the book will be of interest to policy and decision-makers at local, regional, national and international levels, and will be of particular interest to professionals, scholars and students working in planning, urban studies, sport and leisure studies, and in event and festival management.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: To what degree are trade liberalization, productivity, and economic growth correlated? Can economic policies designed to encourage competition and curtail industry protection result in large-scale improvements, such as increased innovation and reduced unemployment? After 20 years of economic reform in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), economic performance is still lagging behind many regions of the world. Even in those countries that are the most advanced in implementing reforms, including Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Tunisia, industries with low productivity growth and high market power continue to dominate. Moreover, the termination of the Multi-Fiber Agreement and the negotiations concerning further liberalization of trade in agricultural products (under the framework of the World Trade Organization) put these and other countries under pressure of fierce competition from emerging nations. Recent empirical evidence on the impact of reforms in a number of developing countries shows that such persistence of inefficiency and market power is specific to MENA. Showcasing in-depth analyses from Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, and Turkey (with comparative data from Asia and Latin America), this book focuses on the dynamics of firm entry and exit to help explain the low productivity of the region. The results suggest a number of policy recommendations designed to foster competition, which, in turn, would contribute to innovation, productivity growth, and improved return on capital investments. The book not only reveals important correlations among policy and market factors in MENA, but suggests fruitful areas of research in other developing regions of the world.
