This research undertook the task of studying this rather neglected area in the literature on adolescents, psycho- therapy, and self-disclosure. Adolescents, and in particular those with learning difficulties and/or behavior problems, are in need of methods to facilitate self-expression. The major purpose of this research was to verify the efficacy of three factors facilitating self-divulgence: psychotherapeutic techniques, individual and group conditions, and themes. The findings responded to how adolescents may be facilitated to self-disclose.

Download or read book Motivation and Delinquency written by D. Wayne Osgood and published by U of Nebraska Press. This book was released on 1997-01-01 with total page 314 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Motivational concepts pervade the classic theories of delinquency. And yet, there has been little detailed analysis of the relationship between motivation and delinquency. In this 44th volume of the Nebraska Symposium on Motivation, a group of leading scholars in a broad range of fields make up for that scholarly negligence, giving explicit and systematic attention to the subject.øJoan McCord opens the volume by considering fundamental questions about relationships between motivation, explanation, blame, and free will, thereby developing a base from which she poses a theory of motivation for crime. Michael Rutter and colleagues review findings concerning factors ranging from social organization to behavioral genetics; throughout, they grapple with various forms of delinquency, from common misbehavior to persistent personality disorder. Gerald Patterson and Karen Yoeger?s chapter on late-onset delinquency extends their influential work and illustrates the application of behaviorist psychology that Patterson has been developing for over twenty years. James Tedeschi examines juvenile delinquency from the perspective of his social interactionist theory of violence; this theory, based on the social psychology of interdependence, construes violence as a coercive attempt at social influence. Finally, Karen Heimer and Ross Matsueda compare the study of delinquency by social psychologists in the fields of psychology and sociology and present their own symbolic interactionist theory of delinquency.

This book was released on 2021-02-05 with total page 1305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In times of uncertainty and crisis, the mental health of individuals become a concern as added stressors and pressures can cause depression, anxiety, and stress. Today, especially with more people than ever experiencing these effects due to the Covid-19 epidemic and all that comes along with it, discourse around mental health has gained heightened urgency. While there have always been stigmas surrounding mental health, the continued display of these biases can add to an already distressing situation for struggling individuals. Despite the experience of mental health issues becoming normalized, it remains important for these issues to be addressed along with adequate education about mental health so that it becomes normalized and discussed in ways that are beneficial for society and those affected. Along with raising awareness of mental health in general, there should be a continued focus on treatment options, methods, and modes for healthcare delivery. The Research Anthology on Mental Health Stigma, Education, and Treatment explores the latest research on the newest advancements in mental health, best practices and new research on treatment, and the need for education and awareness to mitigate the stigma that surrounds discussions on mental health. The chapters will cover new technologies that are impacting delivery modes for treatment, the latest methods and models for treatment options, how education on mental health is delivered and developed, and how mental health is viewed and discussed. It is a comprehensive view of mental health from both a societal and medical standpoint and examines mental health issues in children and adults from all ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds and in a variety of professions, including healthcare, emergency services, and the military. This book is ideal for psychologists, therapists, psychiatrists, counsellors, religious leaders, mental health support agencies and organizations, medical professionals, teachers, researchers, students, academicians, mental health practitioners, and more.

Book excerpt: Adolescence is the most crucial period of life and it is the period of preparation for the future. Social intelligence and self disclosure of adolescents are the important personality characteristics. Keeping in view the importance of above said characteristics the study has been undertaken to establish the relationship between these two variables. This helps a teacher, parents and adolescents to play a vital role in the life of the adolescents and make them socially intelligent. A teacher should educate adolescents in a manner that they achieve more and more awareness and understanding of his self in the midst of his environment. A teacher should build up their life in a way that they may successfully bring about the welfare of the society because self disclosure is an important personality characteristic which is helpful in making an individual a socially intelligent person.
