Book Synopsis Volume 19, Tome II: Kierkegaard Bibliography by : Peter Šajda
Download or read book Volume 19, Tome II: Kierkegaard Bibliography written by Peter Šajda and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-03-16 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The long tradition of Kierkegaard studies has made it impossible for individual scholars to have a complete overview of the vast field of Kierkegaard research. The large and ever increasing number of publications on Kierkegaard in the languages of the world can be simply bewildering even for experienced scholars. The present work constitutes a systematic bibliography which aims to help students and researchers navigate the seemingly endless mass of publications. The volume is divided into two large sections. Part I, which covers Tomes I-V, is dedicated to individual bibliographies organized according to specific language. This includes extensive bibliographies of works on Kierkegaard in some 41 different languages. Part II, which covers Tomes VI-VII, is dedicated to shorter, individual bibliographies organized according to specific figures who are in some way relevant for Kierkegaard. The goal has been to create the most exhaustive bibliography of Kierkegaard literature possible, and thus the bibliography is not limited to any specific time period but instead spans the entire history of Kierkegaard studies.
Book Synopsis Interpreting Congressional Elections by : Jeffrey M. Stonecash
Download or read book Interpreting Congressional Elections written by Jeffrey M. Stonecash and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-06-12 with total page 242 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The increase in the "incumbency effect" has long dominated as a research focus and as a framework for interpreting congressional elections. This important new book challenges the empirical claim that incumbents are doing better and the research paradigm that accompanied the claim. It also offers an alternative interpretation of House elections since the 1960s. In a style that is provocative yet fair, learned, and transparent, Jeffrey Stonecash makes a two-pronged argument: frameworks and methodologies suffer when they stop being critically considered, and patterns of House elections over the long term actually reflect party change and realignment. A must-read for scholars and students of congressional elections.

Book Synopsis Has Latin America Always Been Unequal? by : Ewout Frankema
Download or read book Has Latin America Always Been Unequal? written by Ewout Frankema and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2009 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The forces of industrialisation, urbanisation, globalisation and technological change have washed away the pre-modern outlook of most Latin American economies. Despite the improved opportunities of social mobility offered by economic modernisation, current income inequality levels (still) appear extraordinary high. Has Latin America always been unequal? Did the region fail to settle a longstanding account with its colonial past? Or should we be reluctant to point our finger so far back in time? In a comparative study of asset and income distribution Frankema shows that both the levels, and nature, of income inequality have changed significantly since 1870. Besides the deep historical roots of land and educational inequality, more recent demographic and political-institutional forces are taken on board to understand Latin America s distributive dynamics in the long twentieth century.

This book was released on 2004-11-23 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper tests uncovered interest parity (UIP) using interest rates on longer maturity bonds for the Group of Seven countries. These long-horizon regressions yield much more support for UIP—all of the coefficients on interest differentials are of the correct sign, and almost all are closer to the UIP value of unity than to zero. The paper also analyzes the decision by a government facing electoral uncertainty to implement structural reforms in the presence of fiscal restraints similar to the Stability and Growth Pact.
Book Synopsis Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions by : Moshfique Uddin
Download or read book Cross-Border Mergers and Acquisitions written by Moshfique Uddin and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-05-30 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cross-border mergers and acquisitions (CBM&As) activity has become an important vehicle for firms’ internationalization and corporate restructuring over the past three decades. Despite the huge volume of global CBM&A activity, however, there are few books which carefully explore the strategies, motives, and consequences of global mergers and acquisitions. This book discusses and synthesizes the theoretical literature on the motivation and performance of international merger activities. Focusing on the UK as a top acquiring country in the European Union, the authors explore the recent trends in cross-border mergers and acquisitions, motives for cross-border mergers and acquisitions, the mergers integration process, home and host countries’ macroeconomic consequences on mergers and acquisitions, and shareholder’s wealth effects on CBM&A. This book explores and sheds much-needed light on the UK CBM&A market, what drives it, and what lessons can be learned for other regions around the globe.
Book Synopsis Money, Interest, and the Structure of Production by : Mateusz Machaj
Download or read book Money, Interest, and the Structure of Production written by Mateusz Machaj and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2017-10-05 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is macroeconomic equilibrium possible under capitalism? How do economic bubbles develop? How does a monetary system influence the market mechanism? Is the return on capital a beneficial feature of the economic system? How does complexity of a capitalist organization influence the market process? Can output under capitalism be easily measured and modeled? Such questions and many others relate to the central concept discussed in the book: heterogeneous structure of production, an envisioned theoretical connection between stages of the capitalist process. An inquiry into the functioning of a capital structure is necessary to understand the workings of the interest rate, savings, aggregate demand, and economic growth. Additionally it provides a theoretical framework to recognize consequences of monetary regimes and interest rate policies performed by the central banks. Capital structure concepts have their place at the center of economic theory as they can provide a broad range of insights into our understanding of the real world. Money, Interest, and the Structure of Production offers key insights in that direction.
