Book Synopsis Black's Student Veterinary Dictionary by : Edward Boden
Download or read book Black's Student Veterinary Dictionary written by Edward Boden and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2017-03-24 with total page 985 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A paperback edition for the student market, this standard work of reference has been a bestseller for over 70 years. It is an essential tool for anyone with a professional or leisure interest in the care of animals. Much more than a list of veterinary terms, its practical approach ensures that readers gain an insight into the signs and symptoms of common, and less common, diseases, as well as their diagnosis and treatment. For this edition much new and updated information has been included, reflecting the numerous developments that have taken place in animal care and husbandry, and welfare. There is greatly expanded coverage of topics relating to popular breeds of dog and cat, and the inheritable conditions that might affect their health. Advances in medicine, surgery and diagnostic techniques; descriptions of newly identified diseases such as Schmallenberg virus; the resurgence of old scourges such as TB in cattle, and ongoing enzootic infections such as bird flu are also included in this edition. The growing risk of exotic diseases such as heartworm being imported following the relaxation of travel arrangements for dogs and cats is reflected in new entries. Notes on many new species being farmed or kept as companion animals are among the thousands of topics covered.

Book Synopsis Regulation of Genome Editing in Plant Biotechnology by : Hans-Georg Dederer
Download or read book Regulation of Genome Editing in Plant Biotechnology written by Hans-Georg Dederer and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-08-16 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides in-depth insights into the regulatory frameworks of five countries and the EU concerning the regulation of genome edited plants. The country reports form the basis for a comparative analysis of the various national regulations governing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in general and genome edited plants in particular, as well as the underlying regulatory approaches. The reports, which focus on the regulatory status quo of genome edited plants in Argentina, Australia, Canada, the EU, Japan and the USA, were written by distinguished experts following a uniform structure. On this basis, the legal frameworks are compared in order to foster a rational assessment of which approaches could be drawn upon to adjust, or to completely realign, the current EU regime for GMOs. In addition, a separate chapter identifies potential best practices for the regulation of plants derived from genome editing.

Book Synopsis Legislative approaches to sustainable agriculture and natural resources governance by : Gobena, A.
Download or read book Legislative approaches to sustainable agriculture and natural resources governance written by Gobena, A. and published by Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. This book was released on 2020-05-01 with total page 698 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book encompasses a broad range of natural resource sectors, with discrete chapters on water, land, forestry, fisheries, mining, petroleum and agriculture. Given this broad range of areas, the focus of the publication is narrowed to provide an overarching holistic perspective that is supportive of a systems-thinking approach. Recognizing that there are many useful publications elsewhere that detail extensively the specific regulatory elements of sound laws in the respective areas, this book offers the specific prism of highlighting approaches that embrace the pillars of sustainable development, i.e. approaches that recognize and are informed by economic, social and environmental considerations and impacts.
Book Synopsis Implementing the Nagoya Protocol by : Brendan Coolsaet
Download or read book Implementing the Nagoya Protocol written by Brendan Coolsaet and published by Hotei Publishing. This book was released on 2015-04-21 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The adoption of the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing to the Convention on Biological Diversity in 2010 is a major landmark for the global governance of genetic resources and traditional knowledge. The way in which it will be translated into practice will however depend on the concrete implementation in national country legislation across the world. Implementing the Nagoya Protocol compares existing ABS regimes in ten European countries, including one non-EU member and one EU candidate country, and critically explores several cross-cutting issues related to the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol in the EU. Gathering some of the most professional and widely acclaimed experts in ABS issues, this book takes a major step towards filling a gap in the vast body of literature on national and regional implementation of global commitments regarding ABS and traditional knowledge.

Book Synopsis Wild Animals in Circuses by : Great Britain: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs
Download or read book Wild Animals in Circuses written by Great Britain: Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs and published by The Stationery Office. This book was released on 2013-04-16 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The British circus industry dates back over two centuries and for many years wild animals were an integral part of the circus experience. In modern times the plight of animals has become a concern and today the view of the public as well as bodies such as the RSPCA is that travelling circuses are no place for wild animals, and the Government proposes primary legislation as set out in the draft Bill in this document. This legislation will end the use of wild animals in travelling circuses in this country and help ensure the nation's international reputation as a leading protector of animals continues into a new global era. As the process of introducing primary legislation is necessarily a long one the Government has already introduced the Welfare of Wild Animals in Travelling Circuses (England) Regulations 2012 which came into force on 20 January 2013. These Regulations will protect wild animals which stay in circuses in the short term. Two circuses so far have been licensed. However when it comes into force the ban in this draft Bill will supersede the Regulations.
