But the reality is that life happens; things fall apart. From infidelity to prison, untruths and heartache-prison relationships grows deeper and more complex with every question. It makes you wonder- if true love can be this complicated, maybe we're all handling it better than we give ourselves credit. And if old wounds can always feel so fresh, maybe we need to work on forgiving more than distancing. But what if forgiveness has run out? What do you do then? Do we just give up and go on with our lives...

Do we just give up and go on with our lives? Or do we just sit and let life flow and let the universe handle things in accordance to Gods divine plan. Emotionally I am dead with no hope of resurrection. Physically living with a smile of deceit, lost with nowhere to turn. How did I let myself get this way? All because of a mere human being who has his own destiny, his own karmic debts. A man who has lost his way with an elastic string, a bond that brought me with him. He is a prisoner of the state for which now I am a prisoner of his state. Misplaced in society; kept in solitary confinement within these 4 walls of my mind. I don't belong to myself anymore. Letters, phone calls, visits; the distance is slowly killing me. As he took a life, he took his life which took my life I called this a murder suicide...in memory of LOVE, R.I.P!

Book Synopsis Doing Time Together by : Megan Comfort
Download or read book Doing Time Together written by Megan Comfort and published by University of Chicago Press. This book was released on 2009-05-15 with total page 275 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By quadrupling the number of people behind bars in two decades, the United States has become the world leader in incarceration. Much has been written on the men who make up the vast majority of the nation’s two million inmates. But what of the women they leave behind? Doing Time Together vividly details the ways that prisons shape and infiltrate the lives of women with husbands, fiancés, and boyfriends on the inside. Megan Comfort spent years getting to know women visiting men at San Quentin State Prison, observing how their romantic relationships drew them into contact with the penitentiary. Tangling with the prison’s intrusive scrutiny and rigid rules turns these women into “quasi-inmates,” eroding the boundary between home and prison and altering their sense of intimacy, love, and justice. Yet Comfort also finds that with social welfare weakened, prisons are the most powerful public institutions available to women struggling to overcome untreated social ills and sustain relationships with marginalized men. As a result, they express great ambivalence about the prison and the control it exerts over their daily lives. An illuminating analysis of women caught in the shadow of America’s massive prison system, Comfort’s book will be essential for anyone concerned with the consequences of our punitive culture.
Download or read book Prison Diaries written by Denis MacShane and published by Biteback Publishing. This book was released on 2014-08-17 with total page 418 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two days before Christmas 2013, former MP Denis MacShane entered one of Europe's harshest prisons. Having pleaded guilty to false accounting at the Old Bailey, he had been sentenced to six months in jail. Upon arrival at Belmarsh Prison, his books and personal possessions were confiscated and he was locked in a solitary cell for up to twenty-three hours a day. Denis was the latest MP condemned to serve as an example in the wake of the expenses scandal. Written with scavenged pens and scraps of paper, this diary is a compelling account of his extraordinary experiences in Belmarsh and, later, Brixton. Recording the lives of his fellow prisoners, he discovers a humility and a willingness to admit mistakes that was conspicuously lacking in his former colleagues at the House of Commons. Woven into the narrative are thought-provoking reflections on a range of important topics, from the waning of public confidence in MPs - and the high-profile termination of his own political career - to the failings of the British judicial system. Above all, Prison Diaries reveals what life as a prisoner in Britain is really like, addressing issues such as rising inmate numbers, dehumanising conditions, high incarceration rates, lack of rehabilitation and an endemic political disinterest. This honest and fascinating diary is both a first-hand insight into the current prison system and a report on how it simply does not work.
Book Synopsis Diary of a Yuppie by : Louis Auchincloss
Download or read book Diary of a Yuppie written by Louis Auchincloss and published by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. This book was released on 1986-09-10 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this novel by the author of Honorable Men, a hot-shot corporate lawyer will sacrifice anything for success in 1980s Manhattan. Bob Service is a thirty-two-year-old crack lawyer with blood as cold and clear as a five-dollar martini. His god is power, and his morals are ever tempered by expediency. His goals far exceed an imminent partnership in a big New York law firm. Bob’s “perfect” marriage to Alice, a graceful and intelligent literary agent, is no match for the ardor of his corporate drive. And it certainly pales beside his explosive affair with Sylvia, whose naked ambition matches his own and whose social connections provide the ultimate bridge to the pinnacles of success. How Bob marches toward his fate while trampling on his associates and crippling his marriage forms the plot of this fast-paced novel about 1980s mores and life on the fast track of the big law firms. Office intrigue and duels for power rival anything that Machiavelli could have conjured up. And it all has an unnervingly authentic ring... Praise for Diary of a Yuppie “Absorbing and fun . . . It is refreshing to find characters who are willing to discuss the spiritual dimensions of their business decisions, the ethics of their trade.” —New York Times “Because greed and glory aren’t exclusive to Wall St.—Auchincloss turf—this most moral of fictions deserves a wide audience.” —Kirkus Reviews “This brief contemporary novel explores the ethics of loyalty in business, love, and friendship. Auchincloss, a prolific novelist of manners, is also a Wall Street attorney, and his shallow, ambitious characters ring true . . . [A] subtle, memorable book.” —Library Journal
