Book Synopsis Half-Life of a Stolen Sister by : Rachel Cantor
Download or read book Half-Life of a Stolen Sister written by Rachel Cantor and published by Soho Press. This book was released on 2023-07-11 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reimagines the lives of the Brontë siblings—Charlotte, Emily, Anne, and brother Branwell—from their precocious childhoods, to the writing of their great novels, to their early deaths. A form-shattering novel by an author praised as “laugh-out-loud hilarious and thought-provokingly philosophical” (Boston Globe). How did sisters Emily, Charlotte, and Anne write literary landmarks Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights, and Agnes Grey? What in their lives and circumstances, in the choices they made, and in their close but complex relationships with one another made such greatness possible? In her new novel, Rachel Cantor melds biographical fact with unruly invention to illuminate the siblings’ genius, their bonds of love and duty, periods of furious creativity, and the ongoing tolls of illness, isolation, and loss. As it tells the story of the Brontës, Half-Life of a Stolen Sister itself perpetually transforms and renews its own style and methods, sometimes hewing close to the facts of the Brontë lives as we know them (or think we know them), and at others radically reimagining the siblings, moving them into new time periods and possibilities. Chapter by chapter, the novel brings together diaries, letters, home movies, television and radio interviews, deathbed monologues, and fragments from the sprawling invented worlds of the siblings’ childhood. As it does so, a kaleidoscopic portrait emerges, giving us with startling intensity and invention new ways of seeing—and reading—the sisters who would create some of the supreme works of literature of all time.

Blocked energy in the chakras can often lead to physical illness as well as spiritual malaise. The trick is how to balance these systems in our lives, and in The Seven Chakra Sisters, spiritual psychotherapist and healer Linda Rosenthal shows us exactly that. Rosenthal takes readers on a metaphysical, metaphorical romp into the world of the 7 chakras. She offers a delightful teaching fable about the unique personalities of the 7 Chakras to help us understand the important role they play in our health and well being. Rosenthal paints a wonderfully vivid portrait of these 7 chakra “sisters” that live in all of us to teach the principles of energy healing and show readers how to bring the chakras into optimal alignment: Aneeda, the Needy One, the root chakra (red) Ivanna, the Wanting One, the sacral chakra (orange) Ahafta, the One Who Has to, the solar plexus chakra (yellow) Ahluvya, the Loving One, the heart chakra (green) Singya, the Expressive One, the throat chakra (blue) Useeme, the All-Seeing One, the third eye chakra (indigo) Iamone, the One of Oneness, the crown chakra (violet) Through her light-hearted and funny exploration of the personalities and relationships of these chakra siblings, Rosenthal seriously shows readers how to achieve optimal physical and emotional health.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two weeks afterwards, Oscar asked Professor Koening for a second date, oops! German Dialogue! In the meanwhile, he had encouraged Cutie to have one of her dialogues with the professor off campus. Cutie asked the professor to meet her at the same restaurant Oscar had his class. Oscar took Cutie to the restaurant before the appointed time; he did not want the professor to see him for obvious reasons. The dialogue went well, and the professor took Cutie back to campus. Cutie told Oscar about the wonderful time they had together, and the affable personality of Professor Koenig. Oscar was delighted about Cuties successful dialogue and the intriguing web he was weaving. He had to prevent Cutie from conjuring up any suspicion relative to the ulterior motive he harbored in asking for a second German dialogue. Professor Koenigs house was a large luxurious palatial mansion. Oscar stopped in the circular driveway; he climbed the marble staircase to a big door that signaled entrance to the palace. He spoke to the footman at the door and then went back down the stairs. Oscar turned around to see the footman opened the door, and goose-bumps with a tingling feeling swept over him. Professor Koening stepped out in a red dress that accentuated, indeed flaunted, ever curve in her incredibly sexy body. Oscar opened the door; Professor Koening graciously entered the car. As Oscar looked around he saw a magnificent view of the city and the Caribbean Sea below. He was high up in St. Andrew Hills, which was indicative of the unquestioned highest dating peak of his young life. His heart was racing; he was trembling as he entered the drivers seat. He did not put his hand on the steering wheel in order to conceal his nervousness. He sat there briefly, trying to make light conversation; never in his life was he in proximity to such a gorgeous creature of brain and beauty. How could he even begin to communicate on a sexual level with this outstanding woman of power, wealth, and sophistication? While he was in his contemplation, she accidentally touched his leg, and LJS jumped like a frightened puppy.
Book Synopsis Puccini's Operas by : Merritt Wilson
Download or read book Puccini's Operas written by Merritt Wilson and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2019-08-28 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Opera was and still is one of the oldest forms of entertainment. It’s been around longer than any other art form known to mankind, longer than radio, the internet, video games, television and even movies. It’s an art form in which singers and musicians perform a dramatic work combining a script called a libretto and musical score, usually in a theatrical setting. Opera incorporates music, singing, scenery, costumes and sometimes dancing. Some operas have spoken dialogue called a Singspiel in which the singers talk between songs aka arias. Other operas have a singing style called a Recitative in which the singers imitate spoken dialogue by singing their lines instead of talking.
