Book Synopsis Flashback Mechanisms in Lean Premixed Gas Turbine Combustion by : Ali Cemal Benim
Download or read book Flashback Mechanisms in Lean Premixed Gas Turbine Combustion written by Ali Cemal Benim and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-12-01 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Blending fuels with hydrogen offers the potential to reduce NOx and CO2 emissions in gas turbines, but doing so introduces potential new problems such as flashback. Flashback can lead to thermal overload and destruction of hardware in the turbine engine, with potentially expensive consequences. The little research on flashback that is available is fragmented. Flashback Mechanisms in Lean Premixed Gas Turbine Combustion by Ali Cemal Benim will address not only the overall issue of the flashback phenomenon, but also the issue of fragmented and incomplete research. Presents a coherent review of flame flashback (a classic problem in premixed combustion) and its connection with the growing trend of popularity of more-efficient hydrogen-blend fuels Begins with a brief review of industrial gas turbine combustion technology Covers current environmental and economic motivations for replacing natural gas with hydrogen-blend fuels
Book Synopsis Gas Turbine Heat Transfer and Cooling Technology, Second Edition by : Je-Chin Han
Download or read book Gas Turbine Heat Transfer and Cooling Technology, Second Edition written by Je-Chin Han and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2012-11-27 with total page 892 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A comprehensive reference for engineers and researchers, Gas Turbine Heat Transfer and Cooling Technology, Second Edition has been completely revised and updated to reflect advances in the field made during the past ten years. The second edition retains the format that made the first edition so popular and adds new information mainly based on selected published papers in the open literature. See What’s New in the Second Edition: State-of-the-art cooling technologies such as advanced turbine blade film cooling and internal cooling Modern experimental methods for gas turbine heat transfer and cooling research Advanced computational models for gas turbine heat transfer and cooling performance predictions Suggestions for future research in this critical technology The book discusses the need for turbine cooling, gas turbine heat-transfer problems, and cooling methodology and covers turbine rotor and stator heat-transfer issues, including endwall and blade tip regions under engine conditions, as well as under simulated engine conditions. It then examines turbine rotor and stator blade film cooling and discusses the unsteady high free-stream turbulence effect on simulated cascade airfoils. From here, the book explores impingement cooling, rib-turbulent cooling, pin-fin cooling, and compound and new cooling techniques. It also highlights the effect of rotation on rotor coolant passage heat transfer. Coverage of experimental methods includes heat-transfer and mass-transfer techniques, liquid crystal thermography, optical techniques, as well as flow and thermal measurement techniques. The book concludes with discussions of governing equations and turbulence models and their applications for predicting turbine blade heat transfer and film cooling, and turbine blade internal cooling.

Book Synopsis Gas Turbine Parameter Corrections by : Allan J. Volponi
Download or read book Gas Turbine Parameter Corrections written by Allan J. Volponi and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-02-29 with total page 108 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The volume provides an exhaustive catalog of common standard day corrections for gas turbine gas path parameters, explores their history, and, most importantly, provides a mathematical framework for the derivation of these important normalization factors. Although use of these corrections is common practice within industry, government, and academia, their genesis, and, in particular, how they can be derived from simple principles, is not general knowledge among many of those who use them on a regular basis. This book elucidates calculation of these important coefficients. Standing as a one-stop source on derivations and a methodology for additional parameter correction refinements, Gas Turbine Parameter Corrections, is ideal as a desk reference for practitioners and researchers, as well as supplemental instruction for university courses on gas turbine performance, control, and DPHM (diagnostics, prognostics and health management).

Book Synopsis Fuel Spray Evaporation in Gas Turbine Burners by : Matthew William Vincent
Download or read book Fuel Spray Evaporation in Gas Turbine Burners written by Matthew William Vincent and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The rate of evaporation from a liquid fuel spray is one parameter which is almost universally overlooked when an overall gas turbine design is attempted. A computer program has been developed to estimate the rate of evaporation from a fuel spray, using a method which involves the entire spray. A drop size distribution divided into a number of size intervals, each represented by its own droplet diameter was used to model the known characteristics of spray combustion. The experimental rig was used to provide data essential to the computer program. Gas temperature measurements within the combustor showed the prevailing air flow patterns and the existence of a zone of high temperature gas in the region of evaporating fuel. Gas velocities were calculated from measurements of inlet air pressure and droplet velocities were estimated to give necessary data on relative velocities. This enabled the effects of force convection to be included in the program. (Modified author abstract).
