Book excerpt: The Hebrew-English Jewish Scriptures, Volume 2 - The Prophets. This book comprises the section known as the Prophets, containing 21 books beginning with Joshua and ending with Malachi. The Hebrew and the English are on facing pages. For this edition, I have altered both the Hebrew and English from the sources, especially to conform to the actual Leningrad Codex (circa year 1009), most notably in the Ten Commandments of Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5. I relegated the 1,110 rabbinical 'Qere' additions to footnote notations in the Hebrew text, making it so that readers of Hebrew can read the Hebrew Text just as the Masoretes intended. Other Jewish publications force the reading of the 'later edition' margin notes, before - but also obscuring the original written text which rabbis designate as 'Ketiv,' so this innovation in The Pill Tanakh makes reading what the authors wrote natural. In addition to altering some English verses to correspond closer to the Hebrew text, I also changed the over 5,000 instances where the title 'the Lord God' is now 'Yehovah', a transliteration of the Divine name, corresponding to the Hebrew text where that phrase is found. Again, this is Volume 2 - The Prophets, the second part of a three volume set of Torah, Prophets and Writings, which make up the entire Jewish Scriptures.

Book excerpt: This is The Torah, the first five books of the Jewish Scriptures (aka The books of Moses). The following are some examples of what makes The Pill Tanakh different: 1) The Hebrew and English texts match, side-by-side on facing pages, with no run-over to another page! 2) Each new book starts with a page image from the Leningrad Codex where its first verse begins. 3) The Leningrad Codex renders the Ten Commandments of Exodus 20 and Deuteronomy 5 differently than all publications claiming it as their source. This version preserves that original rendering! 4) Biblical Hebrew numbers are represented by Hebrew letters. Herein, I set a natural rendering for numbers 15 and 16, using 'yud-he' for 15 and 'yud-vav' for 16, respectively, instead of 'tet-vav' and 'tet-zayin' as per rabbinic edict ('obfuscated numbering' to NOT reflect the Divine Name, YHVH). 5) Additionally, I have altered some English verses to better represent the Hebrew text in several places. As an example, I changed the over 5,000 instances where the title 'the Lord God' appears, replacing it with 'Yehovah' - its Hebrew transliteration. 6) In the margin of a line in the actual Leningrad Codex, there are words added that rabbis refer to as 'Qere' (what is read). These words were intended to replace a word in the line with the same root, known as 'Ketiv' (what is written). Other Jewish publications force the reading of the 'Qere' over the 'Ketiv,' obscuring the originally written text; some versions place the 'Ketiv' in brackets while others place it in the margin outside the line! In The Pill Tanakh, I relegate those 1,110 'Qere additions' to small footnote notations in the Hebrew text, preserving the natural flow of the Leningrad Codex source. Moreover, I have found few instances where the 'Qere' is actually correct; but there are many instances that are blatantly wrong, as in Exodus 21:8! Again, this is Volume 1 - The Torah, part one of a three volume set of Torah, Prophets and Writings, which make up the entire Jewish Scriptures.

Book excerpt: This book is primarily a reference for the Ten Commandments as rendered in the Leningrad Codex, which is the oldest complete manuscript of the Hebrew Language based Jewish Scriptures. The number of verses and the order in which they are written is unique. As of September 2019, I know of no other published sources (Bibles, websites, etc.) other than my online Hebrew-English Tanakh (https://www.the-iconoclast.org/resources/tanakh/) that adhere to the Leningrad Codex verse ordering structure!

Download or read book Frames of Justice written by Leroy H. Pelton and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-01-16 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work is devoted to analyzing three major frames of justice--group justice, individual desert, and life affirmation--and their implications for social policy as well as their reflections in contemporary social policies. Pelton finds that all three frames of justice are reflected in the Bible and, later, the Koran. He contends that there is no evidence in the Bible of a genesis or development from one frame of justice to another. Rather, a sense of justice has existed in the human mind from time immemorial, with the three frames coexisting and manifesting themselves in both inter- and intra-group relations. The prominence of one frame over another at any particular point in history or in a particular geographical location is influenced by a variety of factors, though it is ultimately open to human choice. Pelton compares and contrasts the philosophies of nonviolence and liberalism in regard to the frames, and explores the relationships between principle, sentiment, reason, justice, and policy. He discusses social science's problematic relationship to justice in policymaking--for instance, how scholars have focused more on the effectiveness of policies, largely in terms of statistical outcomes reflecting aggregate data analyses, than on their justice. He goes on to explore in depth how frames of justice give direction to social policies, including those of genocide. Frames of Justice is an outstanding work that analyzes the question of justice and social policy, while simultaneously exploring the notion of desert in religion, philosophy, and legislation--especially within the context of the moral question of the relationship between means and ends--and contrasting it with the principle of life affirmation.
Book Synopsis Excuse Me, Life is Calling by : Christian Pedersen
Download or read book Excuse Me, Life is Calling written by Christian Pedersen and published by FriesenPress. This book was released on 2019-12-10 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theology and science are relatively poorly represented in today’s world, a world of biased facts, misrepre- sented realities, and lack of investigative enquiry, which is often prejudicial and unbalanced in reasoning. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone learned to dissect information with the ability to not prejudge until all evidence is available? If everyone became determined not to be led by another’s self-aggrandizing or nefarious intentions? Excuse Me, Life is Calling asks you to consider the relationship of all the world’s great theologies and how these interplay with science—an interplay that has struggled, despite the deep linkages between the two, for thousands of years. The symbiotic relationship between theology and science reveals that each field of study needs the other, even though science is not theology and theology is not science. Think past the presented evidence and see the inclusive realities surrounding each subject, realities that are often publicly presented as propaganda (for a multitude of reasons). Follow an historical path of evidence-based misrepresentation over hundreds, if not thousands of years. From a discussion of various theologies to the science of creation and evolution to startling concerns about the future, Excuse Me, Life is Calling encourages readers’ development of a process of greater thought, both as an individual and with others interested in similar topics. The truth is out there, if you’re able to open your mind and look for it with diligence.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Christianity, the world's most popular religion, approaches its 2,000-year anniversary, more have begun to question mainstream dogma than ever before. Whether political corruption, scientific fraud, medical tyranny, or many other topics, humans are waking up to the fact that much of what they were promised to be true was instead deception-lies meant to cloud the truth and give power to those who deceived them. This realization has caused many to question whether global warming is a man-made phenomenon. It has caused millions of parents to reconsider vaccines-once considered a sacrosanct rite of passage for any newborn child. What if the Christianity we were taught was similarly misrepresented? Within a few hundred years after the resurrection of Jesus, distortions began to creep into Christianity from the pagan belief systems which surrounded it. Over the course of hundreds of years, man-made doctrines have accumulated and warped the Christian faith so drastically many of its early believers would scarcely recognize it. The world's most popular religion is a far cry from the message Jesus preached through villages and towns during his ministry. For those unafraid to look, Red Pill Gospel peels back the layers of lies man has added to the gospel and reveals the beautiful hope inside.

This book was released on 2021-05-08 with total page 410 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “The Battle of the Sexes” explores how the Word of God (YHWH), both the Old Testament and the New Testament, has been twisted to support a narrative that is not in the Scriptures. Traditional translations and teachings of the Bible have either presumed or assumed that men are given power and dominion over women. But nowhere in the Bible is this statement made, not even in Genesis (Bereishis) 3:16, “And your husband will rule over you,” which is not spoken as an imperative but rather as a prophecy. The original Hebrew language of the first five books of Moses, also known as the Torah (Old Testament), tells a very different story of the primal couple. A story that is contrary to what is often taught in all religions that use the Word of YHWH as their foundation – namely, Judaism, Christianity and Islam. With an abbreviated overview of human history as told from YHWH’s point of view, we discover a connection of how all cultures have come to share similar myths, legends and stories with the Torah. And how these ancient archetypes of good and evil have been misused to support a psychological and socio-political advantage of men over women. Likewise, a brief foray into the unique Hebrew language, the ancient language in which YHWH created our world, and dictated the Torah to Moses provides proof that the Word of God is indeed communication from another dimension. Like a massive encrypted message, the Torah includes multiple levels of God-given “fences” that protect the Word of God from man’s distorted perspective. The Hebrew language itself provides the most significant “fence.” Like no other language each Hebrew word defines itself by the letters that make up the word. This is only one feature of the holy text that assures that the instructions of YHWH remain intact, regardless of man’s interpretations. “The Battle of the Sexes” is an examination, from a fresh viewpoint, into the issues that arise between the genders, which stem from the original disobedience of God’s one instruction by the primal couple in the Garden of Eden (Gan Eden). We see a more complete perspective of who did what in the initial defiance, and how we continue to struggle in the female/male relationship with those very same issues first raised in Gan Eden. Moreover, with clarity, the Hebrew language reveals a much greater significance of the female to the human experience than is typically taught in any religion. Exposed in her Hebrew name (which is not usually translated properly) is her irrefutable role in God’s plan of salvation for the human race. God did not make women subservient to men, and YHWH did not give men or women dominion over anything but the animals, and the earth to utilize as God intends. Humanity is to work together, not to manipulate or fight to assume power over one another. Nowhere is this idea more consequential than in the marriage relationship. Being the preeminent human relationship, YHWH presents marriage as the foundation for all other human relationships, from Bereishis, the beginning creation of our world, and the human creature. Undergirding the arrogant, impudent presumption that men are to rule over women is the equally destructive fallacy that God is masculine. The Battle of the Sexes explores how from the initial verses and chapters of the first book of Torah, the book of Genesis, we begin to understand how, as the Jewish Sages say, with the change of one letter the world is destroyed. With the misinterpretation and misunderstanding of one Hebrew word, "adam," our modern grasp of the essence of YHWH and the female/male relationship, as described in Torah, has been distorted, and all but destroyed. The Battle of the Sexes is sure to, not only answer, but raise many questions regarding the female/male relationship as well as humanities' relationship with God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jesus: Is He Israel's Messiah? Indeed he is! This book seeks to give evidence for Jesus being the Messiah of Israel and the world by drawing on various sources ranging from certain ideas observed in the Dead Sea Scrolls produced by the Qumran community, including illuminating certain writings concerning Messiah generated by ancient rabbis. The author also seeks to establish many prophecies fulfilled by Christ as spoken of in the Tanakh (Old Testament) and gives a strong case for miracles and the resurrection of Jesus. An exposition of selected parables taught by Jesus at the end of this book will reveal that the very claims he made about himself came from no other than Messiah-authenticated by his own ministry of miracles, fulfilled prophesy, performing resurrections including his own literal and physical rising from the dead.
