But there are other labels - 'chronic alcoholic' (all over the medical notes); 'high risk offender' (in the court record). Goodbye, Mr. Wonderful gives a detailed account of the early stages of recovery from alcoholism. From his admittance into hospital to his life as a writer in the Netherlands, McCully offers a detailed and often analytical reflection on what it feels like to be a recovering alcoholic. There is no cure for alcoholism, but there is daily management, and there is hope. This is a book for anyone who wishes to understand, or wishes that someone else could understand, the process of healing from addiction.

Book Synopsis Mr. Billingsley by : Edward W. Pluemer
Download or read book Mr. Billingsley written by Edward W. Pluemer and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2018-04-20 with total page 379 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My wife and I had the good fortune to be able to visit my mother several times at her assisted-living facility during her last years. While the church-run facility did an excellent job of looking after my mother during her final years, I was struck by the eventual transition of the residents from vibrant participants to frail elderly fringe beings. Within the four-month intervals between our visits, there could sometimes be stunning differences in the appearance and behavior of the residents we had come to know personally. Over the course of each passing year, multiple residents would either be moved to the adjoining nursing wing, go home to their families, and/or pass away. We witnessed how the natural aging process brought physical decline and social withdrawal to so many of the residents, despite the sincere efforts of the staff. My hope is that this book spreads awareness of the sad and inevitable ending so many seniors face. Too many spend the last years of their lives alone before taking their worldly accomplishments and contributions quietly to their grave, so often unacknowledged or underappreciated. Seniors are our personal history and most precious human resource. We, as a society, will be far richer if we love, listen to, and learn from them.

WWE wrestling beat the ratings for the most talked about show on television week after week. Here is that era captured. “Introducing your champion, from Venice Beach, California, at three hundred and three pounds—Hulk Hogan! And his challenger . . .” Hearing those words ring out across the arena meant you were there. It didn't matter if you were there in person, or watching on television or closed circuit. You were in the place where everyone wanted to be. You could feel the crowd; as the tension built, you were swept up and into the action. You knew you were going to witness history. You were experiencing the main event at a live WWE show. It seemed that wrestling had changed overnight, that the men who entered the squared circle were suddenly larger than life. Everyone wanted to see the behemoth Hulk Hogan wrestle. And the men who wrestled with and against him were his equals in creating a match and a character that no one would soon forget: Andre the Giant, "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, Jesse "The Body" Ventura, Jake "the Snake" Roberts, Sgt. Slaughter. They all kept you pinned to your seat as they were pinning their opponents to the mat. You just knew that you were going to see things that no one had ever seen before. The eighties was the era that cemented WWE as the place where the best wrestlers on the planet worked. Book Synopsis The Highs & Lows of Online Dating by : Cyndi Gayle
Download or read book The Highs & Lows of Online Dating written by Cyndi Gayle and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2007-12-01 with total page 166 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written in a tongue in cheek style, to bring a sense of openness and passion with a wild sense or humour. Most of the way through the book I was either laughing or crying but I was never expressionless. I dug deep in me to bring out a hidden truth without creating offence to others, and to help create openness, coupled with fun and passion. When I decided to write this book I wanted expressions and truth to blend, there is so much fear of the truth in the world that we live in. I use to be restricted in my thoughts and actions, mainly because I didn't want to offend anyone. In this book I have taken away the restrictions to allow natural thoughts to come through, as well as bring a blend of humour and tears. This book was written outside of the box so to exposed hidden thoughts and actions. It's funny and entertaining but also with a dash of truth.
