Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: That YHWH is numerically one is foundational to the theology of the Hebrew Bible. Christian theologians historically have affirmed that there is a more fundamental type of oneness attributable to God. God is one not merely in the sense of being the only God, but also in the sense of being simple or non-composite, having no parts of any kind. In this way, God is said to be an absolute unity. After a consideration of all the evidence, Barry D. Smith reaches the conclusion that there is no basis for ascribing simplicity to God. The simplicity doctrine is not found in Scripture and the traditional arguments used to establish it are unconvincing. In addition, the recent defenses of the simplicity doctrine prompted by Alvin Plantinga's work Does God Have a Nature? are unsuccessful. It should not be thought, however, that the rejection of divine simplicity means that by default God must be conceived as composite, not even as a perfect composite with maximally great, God-making properties. Rather, there is a third option: God should not be conceived as either simple or composite. The question of in which mode God has attributes or exemplifies properties should be set aside.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The revelation of the Trinity establishes that the relationship of the one true God with us springs from the relationship within himself, without us. The Trinity is not a problem to be solved, but a beauty to be discovered. Dr Imad N. Shehadeh uses careful exegetical and theological analysis to explore the presentation of the triune God in Scripture and expertly navigate the reader through the errors and pitfalls regarding the Trinity. This book explains the essential role that the perfect truth of a three-in-one God plays in being able to know God and be sure of his character. Dr Shehadeh doesn’t fear to tread on controversial ground but instead addresses key issues in theology, the study of God, such as the logic of the Trinity, and whether the God of the Bible is the same as the god of other religions. This first of two volumes, is a valuable contribution to the theological academy but also is an accessible guide for anyone to encounter the perfect, holy, triune, God.

Book excerpt: This book is about the tension revealed in scripture. Our efforts to systematically understand spiritual truth have often meant removing the tensions found in the Bible. We sometimes ignore passages we dont like or understand in order to make things fit together. We practice, to our harm, the either/or response to most of these conflicting biblical issues. When we remove the tensions present in scripture, well find ourselves to the right or the left, instead of being on the straight and narrow road that leads us to life in His grace. When we remove the tension found in scripture (and there is a lot of it), we end up creating more tension between each other. As we embrace both sides of the spiritual revelations regarding any subject, the answers will come. The tension provides safety, balance, protection, and keeps us in a place to receive. With this in mind, I address the problem, present the theology of tension, and begin to apply it to many familiar, but often controversial, doctrines. Amazing answers are revealed not by choosing sides, but by affirming both, even when our natural minds cannot discern them. In essence, we short circuit the purpose provided by these tensions when we dismiss them. The tension is in the scriptures: we need to live in it and remain in grace.

In this penetrating analysis of Oneness theology and practice, Gregory Boyd reveals the experience of four years of personal involvement in a Oneness church. Although Oneness Pentecostals' belief in Christ's deity establishes some common ground with other Christians, their aggressive denial of the Trinity has nonetheless fostered their indisputably sub-Christian ideas about God's character, about salvation, and about Christian living.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most important teaching of the Bible must begin with the doctrine concerning Divinity as revealed in the Bible. All known "Christian sects" todate believe in the doctrine that the Bible reveals that there existed/exists only One God. However, the majority of "Christian sects" believe that the Bible reveals the One God exist in 3 distinct Persons who are co-equal and co-eternal. Anyone who has a logical mind and who reads the Old Testament Scriptures from any or all the major English Bibles(such as KJV, NKJV, NASB & NIV) will come to the firm conclusion that there existed/exists only One God. And any unbiased and diligent student of the Bible who reads and carefully divides the New Testament Scriptures from any or all of the major English bibles(such as KJV, NKJV, NASB & NIV) will come to the following conclusions: - * The Father of Jesus Christ is God * Jesus Christ who was originally The Word is God * The Holy Spirit is God * There exists only One God * The Father is greater than the Son(Jesus Christ) and is greater than all, meaning the Father is greater than the Holy Spirit Therefore, there appears to be a contradiction within the New Testament according to all the major English bibles, which reveal that the Father is God, the Son(Jesus) is God and the Holy Spirit is God, and that means there are three Gods existing. Yet the English bibles of the New Testament also reveal that there is only One God!!! How can this be? This means the New Testament scriptures of all English bibles which reveal three Gods in existence also contradict the Old Testament scriptures of all the English bibles which reveal the existence of only One God. The revelation of the New Testament scriptures of all English bibles also contradict the belief that the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit are co-equal. The New Testament scriptures reveal tha the Father is greatest, follows by the Son, Jesus Christ who is greater than the Holy Spirit. There being no revelation in all English bibles of the Old and New Testaments that the One God exists in three distinct Persons. The doctrine of Divinity is the first and most important doctrine. If theologians and preachers could and are not able to accurately reveal what are written in the Bible concerning Divinity, where is the CREDIBILITY FOR ANYONE TO BELIEVE WHAT THEY INTERPRET AND SAY WHAT THE BIBLE REVEAL? THE ABOVE WRITING IS THE REASON FOR THE RELEASE OF THIS BOOK. THE PURPOSE IS TO GIVE THE ACCURATE AND TRUE REVELATION OF GOD(S) AS STATED IN THE ORIGINAL TEXTS OF THE OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS WITHOUT FEAR OR FAVOUR. The Bible consisting of the Old and New Testaments is the Word of the God and is flawless and last forever - there must be consistency of any interpretation of any doctrine concerning any subject revealed in the Bible. Any doctrine, opinion pertaining to the Bible that has no concrete evidence from the word of the God or which is contradicted by other word of the God must be rejected because it could not and cannot be true. The word of the God is truth. Any doctrine that is not true is a lie. Anyone who believes in a lie is a liar and liars cannot inherit everlasting life. Many believers who believe strongly in a doctrine of only One God and/or the One God existing in 3 co-equal and co-eternal Persons are likely to fearful to give up what they have been taught and believed even when shown in this book to be untrue. Knowing and understanding and following the truth, the word of the God is the most important issue that every believer into Jesus Christ must do, especially on the subject concerning God(s) and the gospel of salvation. Believers who are led or who choose to read this Book must be diligent to check the content against the original Hebrew Old Testament and the original Greek New Testament texts and must have the courage to follow and obey the truth concerning the doctrine of God(s) as revealed in the unadulterated Bible.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This important work is a detailed biblical investigation of the relationship of Jesus to the one God of Israel. The authors challenge the notion that biblical monotheism is legitimately represented by a Trinitarian view of God and demonstrate that within the bounds of the canon of Scripture Jesus is confessed as Messiah, Son of God, but not God Himself. Later Christological developments beginning in the second century misrepresented the biblical doctrine of God and Christ by altering the terms of the biblical presentation of the Father and Son. This fateful development laid the foundation of a revised, unscriptural creed that needs to be challenged. This book is likely to be a definitive presentation of a Christology rooted, as it originally was, in the Hebrew Bible. The authors present a sharply-argued appeal for an understanding of God and Jesus in the context of the original Christian documents. Each chapter on a major doctrine: (1) states a classic issue of ultimate concern, (2) surveys alternative past and present answers and (3) tests those proposals by their congruence with information on the subject progressively revealed from Genesis to Revelation. Then the chapter (4) formulates a doctrinal conclusion that consistently fits the many lines of biblical data, (5) defends that conviction respectfully, and finally (6) explores the conclusion’s relevance to a person’s spiritual birth, growth and service to others, all for the glory of God. Why the title Integrative Theology? In each chapter, steps 2-6 integrate the disciplines of historical, biblical, systematic, apologetic and practical theology.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Please note: This edition is not Simplified Chinese but Traditional. The One True God is a unique kind of workbook, intending not just to teach truth but to lead to an encounter with the living God. Beneath that goal the book aims to ground believers in orthodox Christian theology and the actual contents of the Bible. Students are encouraged to thoughtfully draw conclusions from the Scriptures rather than to merely absorb the principles, inferences, and illustrations set before them by the author. For this reason the book does not include such material and instead focuses on digesting the Scriptures directly.Through God s own words and under various systematic headings the book unfolds the nature of God. In this way the reader is set on a firm foundation and will readily perceive the centrality and high authority of biblical doctrine within the Christian life. It is the author's conviction that the study of doctrine is both an intellectual and devotional discipline. Therefore students are guided throughout the study to think through and apply the truths they learn, meditating on the demands of Scripture for their heart and mind. The book puts us squarely in the middle of the material, and demands we give searching thought to how we will live before such a God.This workbook is especially suited for the following contexts: (1) doctrinal training for new converts; (2) college or adult Bible studies; (3) private study; (4) Christian or home school curriculum; (5) Sunday school material; (6) an aid to parents in teaching the Word of God to their children.
