Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Redemption for all of humanity has been made available to all through one Man—Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free and unmerited gift to man from the throne of grace. Nonetheless, the price of the cross was, indeed, costly. A true relationship with God— through—Jesus Christ involves more than following a "free-style" doctrine. Jesus said, "Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God" (Jn. 3:3). The immediate goal of being born-again is to see the Kingdom of God. Yet, there is an issue of blindness among believers that must be resolved. It is not enough be saved, join a church, or even to become a missionary, although these are noble things. Undeniably, there is a distinct journey for each individual in Christ, but one thing that applies to all Christians is the need for obedient adherence to the principles in the Scriptures. While some may practice a permissive theology, the true sons and daughters of God ought not to "cherry-pick" through the Scriptures to find what they are willing to apply in their own lives. Reject one part of the Word of God and you must reject it all—or else—embrace it all and live it! The institutional church, with its numerous denominations, has no soul to be transformed, but each believer does. Jesus died to save individual believers not denominational entities. God adopts common individuals and they become His unique sons and daughters. The Mystery and Miracle of New Birth is for believers who desire to know and practice sound biblical doctrine—because doctrine matters.

Book excerpt: Think you know the Christmas Story? But do you know the real story? Why was the Messiah born in Bethlehem? Was He really born in a stable? If the star could lead the wise men to the manger, why did they first go to Jerusalem? Why are Noah and Mary both so important to the Savior's birth? Of all God's works, none have been as mighty or miraculous as the birth of His Son-Jesus Christ the Messiah! Having heard it time and again, we easily overlook the astounding details of the greatest story ever told: how the Holy Spirit brought forth the King of kings. Born of a virgin whose lineage was divinely protected for millennia, heralded by kings for over 500 years, and brought forth on the soil purchased by King David's great-grandfather, no other celebration will ever match the MIRACLE of the first Christmas. Written to refresh the wonder and awe of Christmas for a lost generation, MIRACLE will create a deep appreciation for the supernatural details of the Lord's birth in thrilling and transformative fashion.

Book excerpt: Two chief obstacles lie in the way of the salvation of any of Adam's fallen descendants: bondage to the guilt and penalty of sin, bondage to the power and presence of sin; or, in other words, their being bound for Hell and their being unfit for Heaven. These obstacles are, so far as man is concerned, entirely insurmountable. This fact was unequivocally established by Christ, when, in answer to His disciples' question, "Who then can be saved?," He answered, "with men this is impossible." A lost sinner might more easily create a world than save his own soul. But (forever be His name praised), the Lord Jesus went on to say, "with God all things are possible" (Matt. 19:25, 26). Arthur Walkington Pink was an English Christian evangelist and Biblical scholar known for his staunchly Calvinist and Puritan-like teachings. Though born to Christian parents, prior to conversion he migrated into a Theosophical society and quickly rose in prominence within their ranks. His conversion came from his father's patient admonitions from Scripture. It was the verse, Proverbs 14:12, 'there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death, ' which particularly struck his heart and compelled him to renounce Theosophy and follow Jesus.

Book excerpt: Embark on a thrilling journey through the captivating tale of Jesus Christ's birth, life, ministry, sufferings, death, and resurrection as this book unravels the enigmatic and awe-inspiring phenomenon of the New Birth-a glorious testament to God's divine ultimate plan for those who embrace His sacrifice and love for humanity. The New Birth of the Soul epitomizes the astounding and radical transformation of a human soul, once devoid of spiritual life and ensnared by dark forces, now rejuvenated with the breath of life and a divine mission (John 3:3, KJV). A soul that was once shrouded in the depths of darkness now basks in the luminous embrace of God's magnificent light (1 Peter 2:9, KJV). A being, formerly an adversary of God and stubbornly resistant to truth, now blossoms, nourished by the purest core of sincerity (John 8:32, KJV). Instead of evading the Almighty Creator, the soul passionately seeks the comforting arms of the One who lovingly crafted and redeemed it (Isaiah 43:1, KJV). A soul that once avoided the truth at all costs now not only cherishes it, but also finds its sustenance and life in the truth of God's Word. Words fall short in capturing the breathtaking splendor of such a profound metamorphosis. This book not only elucidates the intricate process of the New Birth but also whisks you away on a mesmerizing journey into a transcendent realm where the fabric of existence intertwines with infinite possibilities (2 Corinthians 5:17, KJV). Within its pages, unearth a deeper understanding of God's Word, interwoven with powerful King James Version scriptures, providing both substance and revelation on this amazing Mystery of the New-Birth.

Book excerpt: For as long as the idea of "miracles" has been in the public sphere, the conversation about them has been shaped exclusively by religious apologists and Christian leaders. The definitions for what a miracles are have been forged by the same men who fought hard to promote their own beliefs as fitting under that umbrella. It's time for a change. Enter John W. Loftus, an atheist author who has earned three master's degrees from Lincoln Christian Seminary and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Loftus, a former student of noted Christian apologist William Lane Craig, got some of the biggest names in the field to contribute to this book, which represents a critical analysis of the very idea of miracles. Incorporating his own thoughts along with those of noted academics, philosophers, and theologians, Loftus is able to properly define "miracle" and then show why there's no reason to believe such a thing even exists. Addressing every single issue that touches on miracles in a thorough and academic manner, this compilation represents the most extensive look at the phenomenon ever displayed through the lens of an ardent nonbeliever. If you've ever wondered exactly what a miracle is, or doubted whether they exist, then this book is for you.

Book excerpt: In 1980, two men sit down to record a conversation. They have much in common: both are passionate, articulate thinkers. But their differences are just as striking: Giovanni Testori is a well-known writer-and an openly gay man. Luigi Giussani is a Catholic priest who has attracted so many students with his striking way of re-proposing the Christian message that he's unwittingly started a movement (which came to be known as Communion and Liberation). Testori, who has recently returned to the Catholic faith, begins with a provocative suggestion: modern people have lost contact with the existential and religious experience of birth, of an origin in love-the love of one's parents and the love of God. From here, the dialogue ranges widely, taking on the root causes of modern despair and alienation, the link between suffering and hope, the significance of memory, and what it means to encounter the presence of God in one another. Profound but accessible, The Meaning of Birth is a resonant and bracing exploration of life's most fundamental questions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The doctrine of the virgin birth is intricately woven within the texture of the liturgy, theology and piety of all branches of the Christian Church. In spite of its enduring influence, the doctrine has been dogged by criticism, particularly in the modern era. By the 20th century, the teaching of the virgin birth was rejected by the majority of Protestant theologians in Europe. Rejecting the conclusion of many of his contemporaries-including that of his own father-the Swiss theologian, Karl Barth (1886-1968), argued vehemently that, understood aright, the doctrine of the virgin birth plays a crucial role in Christian thought. Barth's legacy in this regard is widely regarded as providing the most influential rehabilitation of the doctrine among Protestants. This book offers a comprehensive account and analysis of Barth's interpretation of the doctrine of the virgin birth. Setting the doctrine in the context of the western Christian tradition, Resch examines it in relation to Barth's discussions in the Church Dogmatics of Christology, pneumatology and the interpretation of Scripture. The importance of this study lies in the way that it reveals Barth's continuity and discontinuity with both the classical Augustinian tradition of interpreting the virgin birth and the criticisms of the modern era, but especially in the way in which attention to Barth's doctrine of the virgin birth reveals his assumptions about the nature of history, humanity and the identity of Jesus Christ. As a 'fitting' sign of the mystery of the incarnation, Barth argued that the virgin birth expressed the dialectic of God's 'No' to sin and 'Yes' to humanity in his free act of revelation and reconciliation. As such, the doctrine of the virgin birth functioned for Barth as a paradigm through which to understand the fashion of God's work upon human beings and the suitable posture of the human being before God.

Book excerpt: The New birth is not a myth, it is a mystery. It is the Spirit of the Almighty God incubating your spirit to make it new. The same Holy Ghost who hovered over Mary hovers over you and a Holy thing, a born again human Spirit is conceived inside you to make you into the image (Greek: Imagodei) of the Living God. And that is precisely what the new birth (born again) experience accomplishes in the life of a man. Without that experience, we are eternally separated from God and destined for eternal condemnation. But with the new birth experience, we secure a place with God both in the present and in the hereafter.

Book excerpt: “[A] scathing assessment . . . Berry shows that Wilson's much–celebrated, controversial pleas in Consilience to unify all branches of knowledge is nothing more than a fatuous subordination of religion, art, and everything else that is good to science . . . Berry is one of the most perceptive critics of American society writing today.” —The Washington Post “I am tempted to say he understands [Consilience] better than Wilson himself . . . A new emancipation proclamation in which he speaks again and again about how to defy the tyranny of scientific materialism.”—The Christian Science Monitor In Life Is a Miracle, the devotion of science to the quantitative and reductionist world is measured against the mysterious, qualitative suggestions of religion and art. Berry sees life as the collision of these separate forces, but without all three in the mix we are left at sea in the world.
