Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook On German Military Forces is an indispensable primary reference source for historians and enthusiasts. In 1945 the Allies were still engaged in bitter fighting against stiff resistance from the German armies in the west. The US War Department was determined to do its best to equip the US forces fighting the Germans in the field with as much knowledge as possible. March 1945 saw the issue of an astonishing document entitled the Handbook On German Military Forces. This was a truly remarkable work of intelligence gathering which formed a vast compendium of all the relevant knowledge amassed on the German Wehrmacht.??Amazingly accurate and comprehensive, the Handbook ran to over six hundred pages and was designed to equip commanders in the field with everything they were likely to need to know about the German forces. The Handbook remained classified until 1953 and then slipped into obscurity.??This new paperback reprint rescues this great work from obscurity, covering the psychology, organisation, tactics and operational aspects of the German forces. The weapons, machines, aircraft and uniforms of the German forces are also documented within the Handbook.??The Handbook On German Military Forces is a fascinating primary reference source for historians and enthusiasts alike, providing an invaluable insight into the detail of the German Army which is still an unrivaled source of information today.

Book Synopsis Flying Boats & Seaplanes by : Stéphane Nicolaou
Download or read book Flying Boats & Seaplanes written by Stéphane Nicolaou and published by Zenith Press. This book was released on 1998 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beginning with races that were staged at elegant French resorts in the early part of the century, flying boats and seaplanes have played an integral part in aviation history. World War I spurred the development of these machines, and by the 1930s, flying boats and seaplanes had become pioneers in transcontinental flight. This photo-filled history recalls the role of flying boats and seaplanes in civil and military aviation history, and the enthusiasm of the engineers and pilots who are associated with their development. In addition to the golden years of hydraviation prior to World War II, author Nicolaou examines the decline of the seaplane, and its subsequent renaissance in nations that are today considered seaplane paradises. The saga is illustrated by more than 200 rare photographs uncovered in archives around the globe.
Book Synopsis Hydrodynamic and Aerodynamic Tests of Models of Flying-boat Hulls Designed for Low Aerodynamic Drag by : Starr Truscott
Download or read book Hydrodynamic and Aerodynamic Tests of Models of Flying-boat Hulls Designed for Low Aerodynamic Drag written by Starr Truscott and published by . This book was released on 1938 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: N.A.C.A. models 74, 74-A, and 75 were tested in the N.A.C.A. tank to determine their hydrodynamic properties and in the N.A.C.A. 20-foot wind tunnel to determine their aerodynamic properties. The forms of these models were derived from that of a solid of revolution having a lowe air drag, and the departures from the form of this low-drag body were the minimum considered to give satisfactory take-off performance. Model 74 has a rounded bottom with flared chines, a transverse step wit ha small fairing aft of it, and a pointed afterbody. Model 74-A has the same forme except for the removal of the fairing aft of the step. Model 75 has a pointed step and a horizontal afterbody derived from the form of the N.A.C.A. model 35 series.
