The child was not very sick, vomiting was not a feature, but there was obstinate constipation. Not until the third day did its condition demand operation. Intussusception was suspected, and an operation was performed by Dr. Kerr. When the ether was given the child had a movement of the bowels. The diagnosis was found correct, the intussusception was manually reduced and the child recovered. The symptoms of intussusception were some times so vague that it was impossible to make a diagnosis and operate within 24 or even 48 hours.
