Book Synopsis The Earth's Atmosphere by : Kshudiram Saha
Download or read book The Earth's Atmosphere written by Kshudiram Saha and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-05-14 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author has sought to incorporate in the book some of the fundamental concepts and principles of the physics and dynamics of the atmosphere, a knowledge and understanding of which should help an average student of science to comprehend some of the great complexities of the earth-atmosphere system, in which a thr- way interaction between the atmosphere, the land and the ocean tends to maintain an overall mass and energy balance in the system through physical and dynamical processes. The book, divided into two parts and consisting of 19 chapters, introduces only those aspects of the subject that, according to the author, are deemed essential to meet the objective in view. The emphasis is more on clarity and understanding of physical and dynamical principles than on details of complex theories and ma- ematics. Attempt is made to treat each subject from ?rst principles and trace its development to present state, as far as possible. However, a knowledge of basic c- culus and differential equations is sine qua non especially for some of the chapters which appear later in the book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Earth's atmospheric layers include the exosphere, thermosphere, mesosphere, stratosphere, and troposphere. How and why have scientists divided Earth's atmosphere into these layers? What exactly are these layers made up of? What happens in each layer? Readers will learn the answers to these questions and more in this enriching text that supports curricular science studies. Readers will identify the various traits of each of the atmospheric layers, ascertain their functions, and appreciate their significance in regulating conditions on Earth.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Mechanics of the Earth's Atmosphere: A Collection of Translations In general it was concluded that air and water alike swerve in curved paths in front of such obstacles and flow towards the free openings. In the latter and directly adjoining the outer ends of the obstacle the strongest current is formed which here retains its direction unaltered, therefore free from all variations. The deviation in front of the obstacle does not take place at any definite distance from it, but rather extends up to the. Obstacle itself and even when the plate faces the current it is seen that a feeble motion still exists immediately adjoining it. Book Synopsis Physics of the Earth’s Space Environment by : Gerd Prölss
Download or read book Physics of the Earth’s Space Environment written by Gerd Prölss and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-07-22 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book on the terrestrial space environment is directed at a broad group of students and scientists, who seek knowledge of the methods and results of space research. The only prerequisites are fundamental physics and mathematics as usually acquired in introductory college courses in science or engineering curricula. Stressing physical insight rather than mathematical precision, "Physics of the Earth’s Space Environment" derives further knowledge on selected topics as each phenomenon is considered and strives to present experimental results in conjunction with basic reasoning about the underlying physics. The content’s breadth and introductory nature make this an ideal reader for students in geophysics, meteorology, space sciences and astronomy
