Book excerpt: Much of today’s Church is masked, in fear that something is “out there lurking,” while oblivious of their identity and delegated authority, and blatant denial or prideful dismissal of hypocritically masked carnal appetites Holy Spirit seeks permission to help crucify. As we yield daily in true repentance, masks are lifted to reveal eye-opening Truth. Through constant communion in Abiding Presence we relinquish the right to prodigally do as we please, and grant Him permission to help crucify appetites that’ve stamped a visible watermark. Otherwise, the realm of darkness appeals to appetites and inclinations, entices “WHEN moments,” and tempts us to trespass the line of demarcation into sin. As we welcome Presence to rest upon, to stir Presence within, carnal appetites lose their appeal as Christ is progressively formed in us and we embrace Jesus’ co-missioned compelling Christ Mandate to present a Kingdom response to all matters, and carry, discern, release and convey Presence in our homes, workplace and marketplace. Jesus was only “tested” in all matters as we, in thought, yet the Masked Church has traditionally considered everything temptation based on our inclination to sin. Jesus had no such inclination because of kratos strength He’d developed to initially resist temptation with the Word, then totally avoid temptation with an Empowered Immunity upon presentation as Christ. Where there’s no appetite and subsequently no inclination, there’s no temptation, only tests! Through watching and praying in Abiding Presence, kratos progressively develops Jesus’ Resurrection Immunity to carnal appetites and temptation. Come join the lifelong journey to live in constant communion with Holy Spirit and put your soul and flesh in subjection to your spirit. Just as Jesus didn’t select a single disciple from among the religiously masked of His day, neither will He return for a hypocritically Masked Church in the Rapture.

You look around and think no one has any financial problems, marital problems, problems with their kids, or problems with their jobs; everything is just glorious. Have you ever thought, What if God is not happy with my praise? Keeping It Real: the Different Masks We Wear in Church will shine the light on some of the things that persist in church. Its time to take the mask off and be real with God. Our souls are at stake, and we cannot afford to just want to please man. We must be pleasing God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: God does not desire to talk to your mask, but through it. The mask is a weapon one wear as a disguise, a cover up to defend, pretend, fear, love, celebrate, hate, hide, plot, scheme or even be a sinister of something. A mask of blindness has covered those eyes of leadership desiring the love of money, sex, power, and greed as their choice in God's house today. Social media are telling some of their stories. Many ungodly behaviors that are the opposite of righteousness are recognizable in the church. To some churches God's people begin to look like dollar signs? Conferences with motivational speakers with no power of deliverance. People will stand in long lines for prophesy over their lives whether it is true or not. They will pay as they are writing false checks to a false prophet. Churches against churches, pastors against pastors, members against pastors, pastors against members, and members against members. Satan doesn't want you. His aim is to keep you from praising and coming into the knowledge of God. For this cause we have a mediator Jesus Christ who is between mankind and God who has given us the victory over Satan and his tactics. Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou has forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children."

Pastor David Swanson proposes that we rethink our churches' habits, or liturgies, and imagine together holistic, communal discipleship practices that can reform us as members of Christ's diverse body.

Book excerpt: "A Christian without a church is a Christian in trouble." Since a global pandemic abruptly closed places of worship, many Christians have skipped church life, even neglecting virtual services. But this was a trend even before COVID-19. Polarizing issues, including political and racial strife, convinced some people to pull away from the church and one another. Now it's time to recommit to gathering as brothers and sisters in Christ. In Rediscover Church, Collin Hansen and Jonathan Leeman discuss why church is essential for believers and God's mission. Through biblical references and personal stories, they show readers God's true intention for corporate gathering: to spiritually strengthen members as individuals and the body of Christ. In an age of church-shopping and livestreamed services, rediscover why the future of the church relies on believers gathering regularly as the family of God. Published in partnership with the Gospel Coalition and 9Marks.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many Christian women today are wearing masks. From an early age, we are taught that to be valuable we need to do more, to be more. To feel worthy, we learn to hide behind the masks of our accomplishments, physical appearance, intelligence, education, relationships—even our work in the church. But those masks separate us from God, from other people, and from our true selves. Thankfully, there is hope. We can remove our masks and trust Christ to see us as we really are . . . but it takes humility. To examine our hearts, motives, and past experiences requires honesty and confession. But beyond the masquerade, Christ can heal and transform our lives, freeing us from bondage.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Breathing Life into Sunday School speaks to the most important ministry that churches have, their Bible teaching ministry. Although Sunday school goes by many names today, it is still a time-honored and effective ministry for teaching the Bible, reaching people for Christ, assimilating them into the church, and growing them as disciples. The majority of churches inside and outside the SBC utilize Sunday school and need to know ways to grow it and improve its health. Although Sunday school is an important ministry, many churches have not experienced its full potential. Sunday school is in decline in most denominations, and there is a lack of health and vitality that it once had. In many churches, the leadership of the Sunday school is in the hands of untrained laymen (Sunday school directors), or is led by the pastor who has no paid staff members, and who might even be bi-vocational. This limits the pastor's time to address the needs of the church's Sunday school. This book details twelve ways that a church can experience new life and vibrancy in its Sunday school ministry. The twelve essentials are replicable by churches of any size. Based on the author's extensive history and training in Christian education and Sunday school, he helps the reader focus on key practices that are needed in order for a Sunday school to grow. The 128 page book is designed to help church leaders train Sunday school directors, teachers, and group members of a Sunday school class or Bible study group.

Book excerpt: Opportunity is born out of crisis. The global pandemic has been horrific. No one could have predicted such chaos to occur for so long. Yet, there is opportunity, the proverbial silver lining. Crisis is an accelerator. The church was catapulted into the digital future. Some churches had no choice but to embrace technology they once refused. The church learned there are more ways to offer worship than we had previously imagined. We learned it is possible to engage people in online ministry that might never become involved in on-site ministry. The church learned that it could change, and it changed quickly. During a pandemic period, when everything seems to have turned upside down, there is an opportunity to stop some things that had not been working anyway, eliminate some things that were seemingly impossible in "normal" times, and start new things that might have been hard to imagine in the past.As some churches began to resume on-site worship, another quandary came into being. How many of our folks will return? What does social distancing look like in a sanctuary with pews? How do we handle singing? What about the choir? Masks or no masks? What about our meet and greet time? How do we collect the offering? As the church begins to emerge from the pandemic, our role is changing. It was already changing pre-pandemic, but the change is sure to escalate drastically post-pandemic. This resource is designed to serve as a guide to what conversations might be helpful for you and your church's leadership. This book is to be used as a tool, not an instrument of judgement or criticism. This resource was created out of a heart full of love for the local church and the hope it will be helpful in finding our next faithful steps to being the vital church in the post-pandemic world.
