This book was released on 1987 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper describes work done during the last two years in an attempt to gain an understanding of, and to establish a capability for the use of, the Douglas Supersonic/Hypersonic Arbitrary Body Program (S/HABP). The program has a complex structure and offers a large variety of aerodynamic prediction methods to solve many different types of problem. Most of the features of the program have been used with some success. Aspects of the flowfield routines and viscous options, which could not be utilised correctly, are either under investigation, or updates to the programming are awaited. Some accurate predictions have been made using the inviscid pressure methods, which have been evaluated for a wide range of configurations, for Mach Numbers from 1.7 to 25.0 and from an incidence of -8 to 40 deg. The code has been seen to be highly flexible, but the accuracy of the results is user dependent. Relative to computational fluid dynamics codes, S/HABP geometries are easy to prepare and the code is cheap to run.

Book Synopsis Mark IV Supersonic-Hypersonic Arbitrary-Body Program Modifications and Computer Graphics. Volume I. Surface Streamline Tracing by : S. Taylor
Download or read book Mark IV Supersonic-Hypersonic Arbitrary-Body Program Modifications and Computer Graphics. Volume I. Surface Streamline Tracing written by S. Taylor and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 131 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modifications were made to two areas of the Mark IV Supersonic Arbitrary-Body program. First, the previous streamline method was replaced with one capable of tracing continuous surface streamlines. The method includes a means of locating the origins of the streamlines. Changes were also made to the viscous methods in the Mark IV code. The integral boundary layer methods, which must be applied along inviscid streamlines, were modified to ensure their compatibility with the new streamline method. Several discrepancies were observed in the previous coding of the integral methods, and the problems were corrected. (Author).

Download or read book Hypersonic Arbitrary-Body Aerodynamic Computer Program Mark III Version Volume I - User's Manual written by Arvel E. Gentry and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 267 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report describes a digital computer program system that is capable of calculating the hypersonic aerodynamic characteristics of complex three-dimensional shapes. The outstanding features of this program are its flexibility in covering a very wide variety of problems and the multitude of program options available. The program is a combination of techniques and capabilities necessary in performing a complete aerodynamic analysis of hypersonic shapes. These include vehicle geometry generation and description, visual graphics necessary in handling geometry data and in preparing plots of the final aerodynamic data, aerodynamic calculations of surface pressures and skin friction forces, and the integration of these forces to give all aerodynamic coefficients and stability derivatives. The program has been used to study a wide variety of hypersonic vehicle shapes including hypersonic cruise aircraft, air-breathing booster aircraft, blunt lifting reentry bodies, high L/D reentry vehicles, blunt reentry capsules, rocket boosters, reentry warheads, and satellite shapes.
