Thousands have acquired wealth from a knowledge of this business; and have passed from the stage of action, without leaving to the world the marks of their progress and improvements; and all previous works upon the Manufacture of Liquors were vague and unsatisfactory, furnishing no reliable information to warrant a speculative investment; for persons possessing really valuable information upon this subject, have found a greater remuneration hi manufacturing than in publishing. Founded in 1812 by Isaiah Thomas, a Revolutionary War patriot and successful printer and publisher, the Society is a research library documenting the life of Americans from the colonial era through 1876. The Society collects, preserves, and makes available as complete a record as possible of the printed materials from the early American experience. The cookbook collection includes approximately 1,100 volumes.
