This was to give him plenty of strength and energy. Also in popular literature, broccoli, spinach and other green vegetables have been given a bad name, because they are supposedly not worth eating. Now that is a totally wrong misconception because spinach – Spinacia oleracea – is one of the most nutritious of greens available to mankind today. It is a native to southwestern Asia, from where it spread all over the world. Spinach leaves are dark green in color, and a plant can grow up to 28 – 30 cm in height. Spinach normally likes a temperate climate, but you can also grow this plant in a place where the winter is going to be mild. Spinach does not like a snowy weather climate. The fruit of the spinach is normally found in a lumpy and dry cluster, with a number of seeds in it. However, many gardeners do not allow the spinach to get to its fruition stage, because they would rather harvest the plant and sell it fresh, or eat it as a salad or cooked.

How to Make Sprouts Sprouting Lentils in Colanders Making a Sprouting Bag Readying Seeds for Germination How to Grow Wheatgrass Sprouts Sprouting the Seeds Beforehand Watering Wheatgrass sprouts/seedlings Harvesting Mung Bean and Rice Pancakes Author Bio Publisher Introduction Nobody is quite certain when human beings decided to make sprouts a part of their daily diet. Not only were they healthy and nourishing, but they are also an unusual contrast to other vegetable and fruit items in matters of texture and flavor. But it is a well-known fact that millenniums ago, people of those cultured civilizations knew everything about adding germinating seeds to their daily diet, and did so regularly. In olden days, people of many such civilizations worshiped the Gods and Goddesses of Harvest by offering them a handful of sprouted grains, before the first spring sowing of the year. So in one way they were appeasing the gods, and asking their blessings for a bountiful harvest. In another way, they were making sure that the seeds that they intended to sow in their lands were capable of producing plants through successful germination! So one could say that two birds were knocked out with just one stone. Sprouting is the process of germination in which seeds, which are edible are allowed to grow into little plants. These are then eaten raw or they are cooked. Sprouting is an integral part of East Asian cuisine, where traditionally nearly every meal had sprouts in some form or the other, either raw or in cooked form added to the platter. Luckily, this healthy habit spread throughout the world, and more and more people began to know all about the benefits of eating sprouts to gain nutrition and enjoy good health.

The word mustard in itself brings on an idea of a pungent and delicious condiment, without which you may not enjoy your hamburgers, meat steaks, and other preparations. We just need that extra touch of mustard to add to the flavor of an otherwise bland dish. The old Romans knew all about it when they prepared a mixture of young wine –mustum-and mustard seeds and ground them together into a paste. The ard portion of the word comes from the Latin word for hot and flaming –ardens, as in ardent…

Not everything that I say will fit everybody, I wrote info as I see it although you have the option as a reader to either use it or loose it. LOL Its up to the reader to make choices, my book is not telling you what to do. I just tend to suggest a lot. Capishe? I hope all of my opinion recipes are helpful and inspiring. I just want to help everyone see things clearly hopefully before you are in a situation that you prefer not to be. Now, as far as the food recipes, you will find recipes in this book that are my very own creations and recipes that have been shared with me sometimes not knowing where they originated. And there are those recipes that have been passed down in my familysome for many generations. Nancy Douglass
