Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The journey of life begins in the womb for human creatures, and the path each life takes is special. Each individual has a journey to make, and each will take many turns as we learn to crawl, walk, and eventually run the many pathways, roadways, byways, highways, expressways, and sometimes alleyways as we search for the truth of life. Life is so beautifulthat is why everyone wants to hold on to it forever. For Claude B. McQueen, Sr.called Doshielife began in a humble home in the South. One of eight children, Doshie learned early on that the greatest wealth a person can hope to have is the love of family. Through each of lifes many struggles, Doshie and his siblings turned to each other for courage and hope, and together they made life as beautiful as they could. And in the times when human weakness pulled them apart, they learned just how valuable that familial bond is. Despite a lifetime of adversity, struggle, and occasional sorrow, Doshie held to his optimism and love of his fellow man. His story is one of persistence, compassion, challenge, and hope.

Book excerpt: There is something mystical about holding the hand of a person who is “crossing over.” It can be heartbreaking, of course, but also very holy and beautiful. Some of the pieces in this collection share the experience of personal loss when a loved one dies. Often the presence of an angel or another mystical experience is shared. But not only in death—there are also stories here of the way the mystical world interacts with us in daily life. And not only angels, but also mothers, fathers, sisters, grandfathers, friends, and even a homeless man and a dog. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Patrick D. Smith, award-winning author of A Land Remembered, Forever Island, and other classic novels about Mississippi and Florida, wrote The Beginning in the 1960s at the height of the Civil Rights movement. He offered an inside perspective on its effect on the people, both black and white, caught in the upheaval of the changing South. Now a new generation of readers can reassess the times and the decisions of those who lived through them. Midvale is an imaginary small town in southern Mississippi in the 1960s. Life moves at a pace set by its long, hot summers and dirt-poor economy. The African-Americans know their place and pretty much keep to it in “the quarters," a dilapidated section of town. The whites, mostly merchants and farmers, know their place too, living quiet, family-oriented lives. A reasonably friendly atmosphere prevails in this segregated society. Then Washington begins passing new laws, and a current of unrest ripples through town as a few blacks, for the first time, register to vote. Angry segregationist Sim Hankins demands that Sheriff Ike Thornton do something to stop it. Sheriff Thornton has his own ideas of what should be done to improve race relations: rehabilitation of “the quarters" with indoor bathrooms, new roofs and paint, and paved streets. But his plan triggers violence between those who would keep the old ways and those willing to make a beginning toward the new. Then the outside world arrives in the form of two young white Civil Rights workers determined to start a “freedom school." The resulting violence and bloodshed carry the story to a climax not unlike the 1960s' newspaper headlines.

Book excerpt: My fondest hope is that my children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will learn to follow their hearts, love their parents, and depend on God and keep His laws. Always putting God first will keep them free from the destructive forces in life. I have known the pain of a child who puts drugs before everything else. There is in all parents a sense that we should have been able to protect our children from those things; learning not to blame ourselves is a long, hard battle. Finally, I hope that one day my children and grandchildren will realize how much they mean to me and how much I love them, and that the day I leave them on this side will not change that love. Just me - Jack

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Menopause: Menopause must be endured -- an accepted notion, right? WRONG! Millions of women have chosen a menopause-free lifestyle, and Donna Walters, 62, is among that number. Unbelievably true, she has NEVER experienced menopause and lives a healthy, youthful and energetic life. Her womanhood is intact, and she remains active in the game of life. To benefit women worldwide and to create estrogen awareness, Ms. Walters dares to publicize two newsworthy realities never discussed or acknowledged: successful long-term estrogen use and never having menopause! Fact: The 2002 Woman''s Health Initiative study, riddled with one-sided, fear-based results, caused a massive rejection of HRT. Yet, millions of women disregarded those results and now enjoy a menopause-free life due to estrogen use. Among that number, Ms. Walters, a successful 31-year estrogen user, debunks the estrogen controversy and virtually eliminates confusion and fear amid silent sufferers! Confirmation: Co-author Dr. Blane Crandall, an OB/GYN surgeon, provides valuable information encompassing estrogen and its health benefits. His compelling views are shared to stop the ongoing disability; the taking of physical, mental, social, and emotional health; and the eventual premature death millions of women worldwide. Dr. Crandall states, "Most women can start HRT at any age, even in the eighties and nineties." Choice: Menopause can cause 22 negative, lifelong health issues! Women need to know many can be circumvented through estrogen use, and more importantly, the avoidance of menopause can be a choice. Estrogen Revisited fuels the fight for the right to choose! Improvement: Passionate about truth, Ms. Walters oversees an effort to improve women''s lives beyond menopausal years. Sounding a clarion call, she announces, "The effects of menopause range from osteoporosis to breast cancer; heart disease to stroke, and they can be life altering. Improvement in women''s health is needed NOW! Estrogen Revisited is the starting point..."

Dr. Carolyn Cummings-Woriax In her latest book, Rev. Dr. Carolyn Cummings-Woriax has endeavored to bring to life the stories of the descendants of the early Revolutionary War Patriots of the Saddletree Community (Lumberton, North Carolina), as reflected upon in her first book, Revolutionary War Patriots: Bladen, Robeson, Cumberland, Sampson, and Duplin Counties, NC. This document, A Catalogue of Saddletree Indian Soldiers' Life Portraits, not only brings to life the former patriots' descendants, it continues to reveal the migration routes of the soldiers from the Saddletree Community throughout the United States, and beyond. Despite the racial and social injustices prevalent inside and outside of their communities, these Saddletree soldiers left the comfort of their culture, family and homes for the mission in service to the people of the United States of America, and its allies, during a pivotal time of American history when these soldiers and their families resided on the fringe of socioeconomic standards. During this exploit, the author examines why the commonality failed to continue in practice, or if the descendants knew about the brotherhood of the early soldiers. She found, through her investigative research, that these lifestyle changes in Robeson County, NC, began during the eras of the Reconstruction Period and the Civil War. Rev. Dr. Cummings-Woriax would like to offer thanks and a heartfelt appreciation to Colonel Thomas Wynn for his dedication and contributions in initiating the Memorial Living War at the Saddletree Community Building. This catalogue serves as a humble effort to give thanks to the many who served from the Saddletree and surrounding communities. Through this endeavor the author seeks to continue the legacies of those who went to war and never returned (Killed in Action, Prisoners of War, Missing in Action, Lost at Sea) or returned home with the seen and/or unseen wounds of war and service to the country.
