Book excerpt: Rainbow is a book for a contemplative reader. It is a book of shades of women's lives in a changing India. The stories are carefully crafted to be detailed yet precise. The reader will experience the Vibrancy of what urbanised India is as a unique setting. In this setting, the fastest changing roles are that of women. The Heroines of my book can be victims, they can victimise, they foray through the changes with courage and strength. Desperately grasping at freedom, we stay rooted to our traditions. These traditions, though evolving and sometimes vanishing, are the source of our strength and they form the pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow. My heroines will make you feel a wide range of emotions from sympathy to admiration, from vulnerable to valiant, and also hatred to concern. The many colours of the elusive Rainbow inspired this book. Drawn from the depths of my soul are the shades you will see. Based on True Stories

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Standing Under the Wrong Rainbow entwines insights from the Bible with the opinions of the author, G. Deon Thompson, to make the case for the durability of the traditional view of marriage as the lifelong union of one woman and one man, while exposing the shortcomings of modern arguments that speak in favor of gay marriage. Chapters treat a variety of topics, including the history of the notion of rights, the scriptural grounding for the traditional morality of marriage, philosophies of truth, the challenges of modern life, the sacrificial nature of godly love, and the essence of marriage as God intends it for human life. If you have found yourself struggling with contemporary debates over the nature of marriage, if you wonder whether the churchs traditional teachings still apply in the twenty-first century, and if you feel a growing divide between the practice of your faith and the life of the wider community, then Standing Under the Wrong Rainbow serves as a wake-up call and a guide to reclaiming the power of longstanding tradition.

Download or read book Divine Rainbow written by M. Louise Heydt and published by Sunstone Press. This book was released on 2020-02-24 with total page 104 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this uplifting book, Louise Heydt weaves together a one-year cycle of nature in a small valley in the Tecolote Mountains east of Pecos, New Mexico, and an inspirational spiritual journey as taught by nature. The land and the spiritual path are interconnected; the outer landscape of nature is the guide for the journey through the inner landscape. The reader is shown how to find sacred places in the land, and how these places are a gateway or threshold for quiet observation and meditation. The realm of mystical experiences can be explored while in the embrace of nature. The book also shows that it is a contemporary delusion that humans and nature are separate, and how in the process of immersing oneself into experiences in nature one nourishes his or her inner nature. In the process of this nurturing, a spiritual awakening begins in which one also learns the power of prayer, thus bringing to light one’s intimate relationship with the Divine.

Book Synopsis The Serpent and the Rainbow by : Wade Davis
Download or read book The Serpent and the Rainbow written by Wade Davis and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2010-10-05 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A scientific investigation and personal adventure story about zombis and the voudoun culture of Haiti by a Harvard scientist. In April 1982, ethnobotanist Wade Davis arrived in Haiti to investigate two documented cases of zombis—people who had reappeared in Haitian society years after they had been officially declared dead and had been buried. Drawn into a netherworld of rituals and celebrations, Davis penetrated the vodoun mystique deeply enough to place zombification in its proper context within vodoun culture. In the course of his investigation, Davis came to realize that the story of vodoun is the history of Haiti—from the African origins of its people to the successful Haitian independence movement, down to the present day, where vodoun culture is, in effect, the government of Haiti’s countryside. The Serpent and the Rainbow combines anthropological investigation with a remarkable personal adventure to illuminate and finally explain a phenomenon that has long fascinated Americans.
Download or read book Rainbow Man written by Marshall Tthomas and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2009-11-30 with total page 231 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The music continued in full voice and power perfectly syncopated with the rainbows movements for about 15 minutes before I could feel something happening to me. The totality of the beauty that I was both witnessing and participating in seemed to overwhelm all my sensations of joy and ecstasy. It seemed as if something inside me was beginning to open or to tip over into a larger whole. When one begins to pass out and lose consciousness you can feel you mind begin to start to be overwhelmed and this is all I have to compare it too. Save for the intensity of pure joy that the light harp and the music had made me feel it was as if my sense of the beauty of the universe was making me pass out but I did not lose consciousness, quite the opposite.
