A young man named Jasper discovers a young joey kangaroo one day while out on a hunt and saves it from the dingoes. After rescuing the kangaroo he decides to raise it himself, since the mother had abandoned it. Years later he will be shocked to find out why it was abandoned, since this kangaroo in particular seems to have grown bigger then any kangaroo the boy had ever seen before. Soon the kangaroo outgrows Jasper's shack, so both decide that they should find some place better. The day Jasper mounts Kaylia's back will change his life, for that day he discovered that if you had a way to hold on it was actually possible to mount the kangaroo and ride it. Soon after while in one of the local towns the head of the messenger services in their realm notices Jasper and his mount, and decides that the boy would be able to make a fairly decent messenger. So he inquires the boy about becoming a messenger to run mail and packages around their country of Northern Austra while astride the back of his giant kangaroo. Meanwhile, Jasper also eventually tries to seek out the other giant kangaroos in an effort to be able to eventually release Kaylia, so that she can return to where she belongs and have her freedom as he believes she could. At the time he doesn't believe that she belongs with him, since she should be free and be able to live in the wild. For he knows that if she would have never been attacked by the dingoes that she would have grown up as a wild, and free giant kangaroo. Jasper will do all he can to try to get the chance to release Kaylia back into the wild, if that's even possible. Come along for the ride of your life as a mounted messenger on the back of a kangaroo in The Kangaroo's Messenger.

With his landlords, Mike and Mrs. O’Callaghan, and their ability to mishandle his plans, Mr. White encounters a series of cyclonic problems in attempting to carry out his projects:—the choice of animals, necessary cargo and the stupendous job of converting an old barn into an ark. There is the bitterly contemptuous attitude of the town, the strange misadventures—before and after the flood—and the promise the rainbow brings as they are picked up at sea." —Kirkus Reviews

Download or read book Guilty Pigs written by Katy Barnett and published by Black Inc.. This book was released on 2022-02-02 with total page 436 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An illuminating and entertaining history of the law’s treatment of animals Trespassing bees, murderous zebras, reasonable cows ... Ever since Biblical times, animals have been clashing with human laws. What to do with animals that injure or kill people, in particular, has long troubled humans. In medieval Europe, ‘killer’ animals – horses, cattle and most often pigs, which were notorious for eating young children – were put on trial. Even in the early twentieth century, circus elephants who lashed out at their keepers in America were summarily executed for their crimes. In Guilty Pigs, animal law experts Katy Barnett and Jeremy Gans guide readers through the philosophy and practice of animal-related law, from the very earliest cases to the issues we are debating today, including the responsibilities of pet owners and the application of human rights to animals. They also cover hunting rights, using animals to solve crime, protecting animals from abuse and neglect, and the unique nature of owning a living being. Filled with lively and sometimes bizarre case studies, this is a fascinating and entertaining read – for all lovers of misbehaving creatures. Katy Barnett is a professor of law at the University of Melbourne. She is the author of the young adult novel The Earth Below and co-author of Remedies in Australian Private Law. Jeremy Gans is a professor of law at the University of Melbourne. He is the author of Modern Criminal Law of Australia and The Ouija Board Jurors: Mystery, Mischief and Misery in the Jury System, a true crime book. He is a co-author of Uniform Evidence.
