Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The will of God has nothing but sweetness, grace, and treasures for the surrendered soul" This inspirational classic was compiled more than a century after the death of its author, the French Jesuit, Jean-Pierre de Caussade. Gathered from the notes, discussions, and letters that he left behind, these reflections focus on accepting the will of God with an open heart, and learning to slow down and live life in the "sacrament of the present moment." "I count myself blessed that, at an important juncture in my life, a wise elder introduced me to the writings of Caussade. From them I gained not only the guidance I needed to traverse a difficult terrain, but also a permanent element in my outlook on life: an appreciation of the operation of God's providence and my need to be receptive of that providence despite the lack of full understanding and the pressure of contrary desires." --Michael Casey, O.C.S.O. from the Introduction

Book Synopsis The Joy of Hearing by : Thomas R. Schreiner
Download or read book The Joy of Hearing written by Thomas R. Schreiner and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2021-11-17 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Join New Testament scholar Thomas Schreiner as he explores the meaning and purpose of the book of Revelation. The book of Revelation can feel more intimidating to read than other books of the Bible. It invites readers into a world that seems confusing and sometimes even strange: golden lampstands, seven seals, a dragon, and a rider on a white horse. But at its core, Revelation is a message of hope written to Christians facing hardship, and it's worth the effort to read it and understand it. In this first volume in the New Testament Theology series, trusted scholar Thomas Schreiner walks step-by-step through the book of Revelation, considering its many themes—the opposition believers face from the world; the need for perseverance; God as sovereign Creator, Judge, and Savior—as well as its symbolic imagery and historical context. The Joy of Hearing brings clarity to the content and message of Revelation and explores its relevance for the church today.
Book Synopsis The Joy of Appreciative Living by : Jacqueline Kelm
Download or read book The Joy of Appreciative Living written by Jacqueline Kelm and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2008-12-26 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a national “joy study,” here is a workshop leader’s 28-day blueprint to greater happiness broken down into three remarkable steps. Is it possible to study what creates joy in our lives—and to break down the results into a believable, achievable program for inner fulfillment? Mechanical engineer, corporate manager, and motivational coach Jacqueline Kelm discovered that the answer is yes—and she shares her results in The Joy of Appreciative Living. One day while preparing for a speech before a local spiritual community, Kelm experienced a breakthrough. She found a simple way of integrating all the principles of positive-thinking philosophies into three basic exercises. These three steps to lasting, meaningful joy require less than five minutes a day, plus fifteen minutes on the weekends. Her workshop audiences were astounded. Realizing that she was onto something, Kelm designed a study to see how these exercises would work for different kinds of people. Using a cross section of adults around the United States, Kelm’s “joy study” showed that after twenty-eight days, 97 percent of participants assessed themselves to be significantly happier. Even more remarkable, participants in the study continued to feel happier even six months afterward. Just three exercises in twenty-eight days? It sounds so simple because author Jacqueline Kelm makes it simple. The book will highlight exactly how and why these exercises work. The Joy of Appreciative Living transforms complexity, insight, and years of trial into one focused, high-powered program of daily practice that can make all the difference in your world.

Book excerpt: What Kind of Relationship Can You Have with Someone You Fear? For most of us, fear is something we try to avoid. And fearing God hardly sounds like an occasion for joy. But Jerry Bridges shows how the fear of the Lord is actually the key that opens the door to a life of true knowledge, wisdom, blessing, and joy. We all want a deeper, more intimate relationship with God–one that’s characterized by joy. But how does fearing God lead to joy? After all, aren’t we supposed to love Him and live in intimate relationship with Him? Jerry Bridges explores this paradox as he unpacks the biblical promise that God delights in those who fear Him. Join him as he unveils the awesome greatness of God–His incredible holiness, deep wisdom, and especially His inspiring love. You’ll gain a deeper understanding of who God is that will draw you into a truly biblical, and surprisingly delightful, fear of God–a fear that includes your own genuine, heartfelt delight in God. You’ll make the startling discovery that the fear of the Lord, far from being something to avoid, is the key to joyful, fulfilling, and genuine intimacy with God. It can change your relationship with God and change your life! Discover the surprising Joy of Fearing God!

Download or read book The Next Testament written by Charles and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2022-11-02 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Friends, welcome to the next testament! The truth be known from the start, the ideas of The Next Testament: Into the Adulthood of Civilization are not the ideas of the verse writer. The ideas of the next testament are the Truth of Creation, and as such, they belong to all selves of Civilization. We encourage you to read the ideas of The Next Testament with the opened mind of enlightened goodwill golden rule honesty. Granted, at times the verse may seem simultaneously simple and mysteriously convoluted. It may even seem flippant and frivolous at times. But let it be known, the ideas are the absolute Truth of Creation, and you will see it all makes perfect enlightened sense that the Truth of Creation belongs to all selves of Civilization. But the proof? Where is some proof that the ideas of The Next Testament: Into the Adulthood of Civilization are the Truth of Creation meant for all selves of Civilization? Meager versing aside, the proof is in the Truth itself. Yes, the ideas contained in The Next Testament are the Truth of Creation and will be seen in and accepted and applied from the evolved Adulthood view that self is the self of all selves, and selfish is the selfish of all selves of the body politic of Civilization. And the reality of the actualized happiness of all selves pending into our adulthood has evolved up from stage to stage and age to age as our view and understanding and devotion to universal truth has evolved. From in the beginning, the purely physical truth of embryonic Prehistory, to the Creation given first breath emergence with viable soul into blind Ancient infancy, up to and through the self-selfish emotional truth of our Classic youth--from which, let us remember, we had to be saved, Civilization--into the higher emotional idealism of Middle Ages adolescence, there to be tempered with the truth of logic of Enlightened democratic young adulthood, we have evolved. And now here we are in our twenty-first century, ready for Adulthood devotion to fully free free will truth of Creation's wisdom. Civilization, our view of the Truth has evolved to the obviousness of the Adulthood view that the happy actualization of Civilization is the happy actualization of all selves of Civilization. And be reminded, Civilization, agreement to, and with, the guidance of the congruent expectations of the testaments with parent Creation--the Old, the New, and now the Next--has meant all the difference in our evolutionary growth up from Age to Age. Yes, through the Old, the New, and now the Next, our view of the Truth has evolved age to age from the self of self-selfish up to the adulthood view of the self of all selves. Please read The Next Testament in the spirit of the highest view of Creation's Truth.
