Download or read book Mirage of Health written by René Dubos and published by Pickle Partners Publishing. This book was released on 2018-12-02 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every man dreams of a utopia in which disease is conquered and the only thing left to die of is old age. In a study of the history and concepts of medicine, René Dubos, who is one of America’s most distinguished scientists, shows that such a utopia is neither possible nor desirable. Organized species such as ants have established a satisfactory equilibrium with their environment and suffer no great waves of disease or changes in their social structure. But man is essentially dynamic, his way of life constantly in flux from century to century. He experiments with synthetic products and changes his diet; he builds cities that breed rats and infection; he builds automobiles and factories which pollute the air; and he constructs radioactive bombs. As life becomes more comfortable and technology more complicated, new factors introduce new dangers; the ingredients for utopia are the agents of new disease. Dr. Dubois’ thesis may sound discouraging to a world looking for a cure-all in medical research, but actually it is affirmative—even hopeful. Once we accept the fact that “complete freedom from disease and from struggle is almost incompatible with the process of living,” we will know that our aspirations cannot be satisfied with health and the easy life. “The viewpoint expressed in Mirage of Health has now become a dominant one in our general culture and encompasses much of current concern with improving lifestyles related to health and promoting greater health consciousness among the public. In this sense, the discussion, although written twenty-five years ago, is perhaps more relevant today than it was then.”—DAVID MECHANIC, University Professor, René Dubos Professor of Behavioral Sciences, and Director of the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research, Rutgers University

Book Synopsis Male’s Health in the Objective of Stressology – Beyond the Usual by : Армен Мурадян
Download or read book Male’s Health in the Objective of Stressology – Beyond the Usual written by Армен Мурадян and published by Litres. This book was released on 2019-02-27 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book “Male’s health in the objective of stressology – beyond the usual” is an example of talented scientific-educational work, interesting, trustworthy and useful to doctors, psychologists, students, and what is more – to a wide range of readers interested in their own mental problems.Psychological traumas and disappointments, accumulating, entail a discord between feelings, mind and body. We lose a sense of inner integrity, peace in the soul, freshness of feelings and can no longer admire childishly a flower, the sky and their colors, appreciate simple joys of life. As a result, with age, we increasingly feel the tragedy of existence; we plunge into sufferings or into “appraisal experience of life” which substitutes for us the joy of a truly sensual perception and experience of reality. We are inclined to ponder on life rather than live, regretting our own losses. This is the concept of life formed in the human mind during the long years of life of mankind on the earth. The proposed monograph destroys this stereotype. The book is distinguished by substantiation and novelty of the view on a number of key problems of psychic and somatic pathology, imbued with the spirit of scientific optimism and humanism. This is a thoughtful and considerate invitation to a reader to think about a complex system called human-male. The main attention in the publication is devoted to stress and how stress is combined with biological factors of the male body, creating a fine border between pathology and borders of the norm. Authors in their analyses and observations smoothly integrate biology and psychology. The theme of human sexuality, touched on by the authors, is also important. Undoubtedly, human sexuality is itself an interesting subject because it includes a whole range of preferences and complex forms of behavior, especially in men. The book is written by proficient specialists, at the same time it is easy to read since it is addressed to a wide readership.

Book excerpt: I wrote this little book because after 38 years of suffering, first of all I HEALED FINALLY my allergies (to pollen, mold, dust, etc ..) and asthma lasted 38 years, no longer take any medicine but simply changing the power . Then, always with the power and without any medicine, I HEALED over years, definitely other diseases: Chronic otitis, lasting 10 years Urethritis chronic staph duration 8 years 2 infections, intestinal and urethra, contracted on a trip abroad Diarrhoeal chronic colitis, due to a drug, 14-year Herpes Simplex to his lips and nose, which lasted one year Neuralgia mouth lasted many years I recovered 5/10 of myopia in the right eye I began to heal when every asthma attack, I tried to remember what I had eaten the day before and thus to avoid that food for a long time. They are well able to identify the foods that I caused allergies and asthma, although tests Lactose, the flour, did not give any evidence allergic. Diseases do not care with medicines or other scientific, but with POWER, you must learn to change for a rather long time.
