She came to England when young. In 1894, soon after arrival in England, she married the magazine editor Charles Norris Williamson (1859-1920), "the first editor to whom she presented an introduction." Many of her books were jointly written with her husband. After her marriage she introduced herself as Mrs. C. N. Williamson. A number of their novels cover the early days of motoring and can also be read as travelogues. Alice apparently said of her husband "Charlie Williamson could do anything in the world except write stories" she said of herself "I can't do anything else." She continued to write after her husband's death in 1920.

She was a contributor to the Westminster Gazette for which she wrote short articles on Irish peasant life and she wrote one novel The Weans at Rowallan (1905)."Patsy quietly moved his stool back into the shadow of the chimney corner. In that mood Lull, if she saw him, would chase him from the kitchen when the news began; and clearly Teressa was bringing news worth hearing. As far back as Patsy or any of the children could remember, Teressa had brought the village gossip to Rowallan. Neither rain nor storm could keep the old woman back when there was news to tell. One thing only--a dog in her path--had power to turn her aside. The quietest dog sent her running like a hare, and the most obviously imitated bark made her cry."

Download or read book The Poems of Schiller (Esprios Classics) written by Friedrich von Schiller and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2018-03-28 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Johann Christoph Friedrich von Schiller was a German poet, philosopher, physician, historian, and playwright. During the last seventeen years of his life (1788-1805), Schiller struck up a productive, if complicated, friendship with the already famous and influential Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. They frequently discussed issues concerning aesthetics, and Schiller encouraged Goethe to finish works he left as sketches. This relationship and these discussions led to a period now referred to as Weimar Classicism. They also worked together on Xenien, a collection of short satirical poems in which both Schiller and Goethe challenge opponents to their philosophical vision.
