Book excerpt: There seems to be a lot of confusion today about the subject of holiness. What is "holiness"? Does God call us to lead holy lives? As sinful creatures born into this world, can we ever hope to accomplish this? In The Highway of Holiness, author Olusola Osinoiki examines this complex subject and reveals several keys that we can follow in our pursuit of holiness. Through practical application of Scripture, he demonstrates what the fruit of a holy life will look like and explores how we can hope to maintain a godly lifestyle. He shows how God will empower each of us to lead the lives He wants us to lead through the power and the work of His Holy Spirit. If we want to call ourselves children of God, we must be holy children before God. This book is another signpost on the Highway of Holiness that will encourage each of us to continue on this journey in pursuit of a life like Christ's. Blessed are those who take all of the resources of heaven to live a life that is truly holy in the eyes of the almighty God!

Book excerpt: "The Highway of Holiness" is a book about my spiritual journey with the Lord Jesus. He saved me when I was lost on my way. The Lord brought me back to the faith, delivered me from the enemy's works, and healed my life. He showed me the right way of living, directed my path, and gave me a purpose to live to this day. His salvation, grace, and love for me were things I couldn't deny. The Lord sends the Holy Spirit to help me in this spiritual journey. He does not leave me like an orphan. The Holy Spirit is my helper, teacher, comforter, and counselor. He used to lead me in giving thanks, praising, and glorifying God. The Holy Spirit also taught me about life, love, joy, peace, happiness, self-control, self-discipline, etc. I am humbly grateful to God for helping me in my life. Hallelujah! I understand now God's ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts than our thoughts. (Isaiah 55:9) The Holy Spirit helps me better understand who God the Father, the Son, and about Him. I began to realise the importance of the blood of Jesus in my life. I learned how to walk in holiness, drink the living water continuously, understand more about true repentance and the true meaning of forgiveness, live under God's grace, and pray, fasting, deliverance, healing, and miracles of God. Now, I understand the importance of reading the Bible. The Lord has revealed to me that now is the time to read the Book of Revelation. Like an eagle's eyes, I knew I needed to observe everything happening in the world and pray about them. I realised we are living in the end times, and Christian persecution is rising globally, and we need to stand firm in faith in Christ Jesus till the end. I also learned how to overcome fear in life, about the mysterious rapture that will take place, and how to be an overcomer in Christ Jesus. My spiritual sight had been opened since I was a young boy, but I did not understand it then. Indeed, I received many dreams and visions from the Lord, but at first, I did not share them with the public. I keep it to myself. I never knew I needed to share it with the public. But then the Lord made me understand when I saw Him in the middle of the long river, feeding the fish everywhere. There, I saw a lot of fish surrounding Him. The water was so clean. Then Jesus asked me to feed His fish in one place only. I obeyed His words. I understood the Lord had given me a specific ministry to do, which is to share the Gospel of Christ, dreams, visions, and revelations that can edify myself and others in these last days. Sometimes I need to deliver a message or warning from the Lord. I believe this is the perfect time to share my spiritual journey, from the day I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour and what I have learned until now. As a Christian, I've learned that patience is required in waiting for God to answer our prayers and perseverance in dealing with life's difficulties. The Lord is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one who seeks him; it is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord. (Lamentations 3:25-26) By God's grace and love, I hope many will be enlightened by the depth of the Holy Spirit by reading this book and begin to walk in "The Highway of Holiness" seriously until we see Jesus face to face.

Packer in this classic book on biblical holiness, “when all Christians laid great emphasis on God’s call to holiness. But how different it is today! To listen to our sermons and to read the books we write, and then to watch the zany, worldly, quarrelsome way we behave, you would never imagine that once the highway of holiness was clearly marked out for Bible-believers.” In this revised and updated edition of Rediscovering Holiness, the highway is once more clearly marked out for a new generation of readers, pointing to true freedom and joy, both now and in eternity. “There was a time,” writes renowned theologian J. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Holiness, or the Higher Christian Life In these scriptures are embodied our reasons for appear ing thus prominently before the church in defence of what we conceive to be important truth. Obedience to duty, therefore, and not any desire to pro voke controversy, impels us to an humble effort to meet some of the objections entertained by many pious Christians to the doctrine of Holiness, or the Higher Christian Life, believing that many of those objections, though honestly entertained, would disappear, before a proper understand ing of the subject. Notwithstanding the many aids furnished to a correct understanding of the doctrine of holiness, multitudes mis apprehend its true nature. Opinions are formed from terms and technicalities, not from a careful analysis of the facts represented by those terms, thus leading to the belief that more is claimed by the advocates of this doctrine than the truth warrants. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: WHERE ARE YOU ON THE HIGHWAY TO HOLINESS? Being a Christian is more than just an instantaneous conversion - it is a daily process whereby we grow to be more and more like Christ. When we no longer desire to grow and please our Lord, we stifle the work of the Holy Spirit by telling Him to move out from behind the steering wheel and into the back seat; essentially telling Him we are happy to have Him along for the ride, but we want to maintain control of our lives. Christians are only as holy as they want to be. John the Baptist addresses this thought head on when he said, "He must increase, but I must decrease" (John 3:30). Here in this short scripture John identifies the main battleground for all Christians - to become more like Christ while simultaneously conquering our sinful nature. The church as a whole has pulled off of the Highway to Holiness into a rest area where we have become comfortable parked under the shade tree of contentment. We have become satisfied with our spiritual growth telling ourselves that, while we are not what we are suppose to be, we are much better than what we use to be before Christ. We have grown weary of battling our own flesh which has extinguished the passion and desire we once had to pursue holiness and righteousness. However, complacency with Christ is the graveyard where Christians go to die. Supported by numerous scriptures, "Navigating the Highway to Holiness" identifies areas within the church that have been weakened by false doctrine and the spirit of compromise, while simultaneously challenging Christians to continually move towards perfection through the power of the Holy Spirit, and by allowing Christ to assume His rightful place on the throne of our hearts.

But holiness is something that is often missed in the Christian's daily life. According to Navigator author Jerry Bridges, that's because we're not exactly sure what our part in holiness is. In The Pursuit of Holiness, he helps us see clearly just what we should rely on God to do--and what we should take responsibility for ourselves. As you deepen your relationship with God, learn more about His character, and understand the Holy Spirit's role in holiness, your spiritual growth will mature. The included study guide contains 12 lessons.

Book excerpt: "The Call to Holiness was inspired by the fundamental conviction that spirituality without morality is disembodied and morality without spirituality is rootless. In other words, our moral life arises out of our spirituality to become its public face. Furthermore, what we do to nurture our spirituality through spiritual practices can and ought to have an effect on our moral practices. In the end, spirituality and morality converge when we consider life as a whole rather than simply focus on individual actions in the moral life or devotional practices in the spiritual life."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. Book excerpt: This is intended to be a very simple book, an elementary treatment of a few basic ideas in Christian spirituality. Hence it should be useful to any Christian, and indeed to anyone who wants to acquaint himself with some principles of the interior life as it is understood in the Catholic Church. Nothing is here said of such subjects as “contemplation” or even “mental prayer.” And yet the book emphasizes what is at once the most common and the most mysterious aspect in the Christian life: grace, the power and the light of God in us, purifying our hearts, transforming us in Christ, making us true sons of God, enabling us to act in the world as his instruments for the good of all men and for his glory. This is therefore a meditation on some fundamental themes appropriate to the active life. It must be said at once that the active life is essential to every Christian. Clearly the active life must mean more than the life which is led in religious institutes of men and women who teach, care for the sick, and so on. (When one is talking of the “active life” as opposed to the “contemplative life,” this is the usual reference.) Here action is not looked at in opposition to contemplation, but as an expression of charity and as a necessary consequence of union with God by baptism.
