Book excerpt: Descendants of Abraham Hammer (1730-1800?), born in Plymouth Twp., Philadelphia Co., Pennsylvania to John (Johannes) and Jane Hammer. He married Rachel Meeting (d. after 1784) in 1755. She was the daughter of Aaron Meeting. He died before 1800 in Randolph Co., (formerly Orange Co.), North Carolina. They had six children. John (Johannes) Hammer (1684-1765) was an immigrant from Palatinate, Germany, who first immigrated to Great Britain in the early 18th century, stopped for a while in Wales, and finally immigrated to America settling in Pennsylvania. Descendants live mostly in North Carolina but also in Pennsylvania, Florida, California and elsewhere.
