Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In his first book published as Pope, and in conjunction with the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, Pope Francis here invites all humanity to an intimate and personal dialogue on the subject closest to his heart—mercy—which has long been the cornerstone of his faith and is now the central teaching of his papacy. In this conversation with Vatican reporter Andrea Tornielli, Francis explains—through memories from his youth and moving anecdotes from his experiences as a pastor—why “mercy is the first attribute of God.” God “does not want anyone to be lost. His mercy is infinitely greater than our sins,” he writes. As well, the Church cannot close the door on anyone, Francis asserts—on the contrary, its duty is to go out into the world to find its way into the consciousness of people so that they can assume responsibility for, and move away from, the bad things they have done. The first Jesuit and the first South American to be elected Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis has traveled around the world spreading God’s message of mercy to the largest crowds in papal history. Clear and profound, The Name of God Is Mercy resonates with this desire to reach all those who are looking for meaning in life, a road to peace and reconciliation, and the healing of physical and spiritual wounds. It is being published in more than eighty countries around the world. “The name of God is mercy. There are no situations we cannot get out of, we are not condemned to sink into quicksand.”—Pope Francis Praise for The Name of God Is Mercy “Francis speaks succinctly—and with refreshing forthrightness. . . . He emphasizes moral sincerity over dogma, an understanding of the complexities of the world and individual experience over rigid doctrine. . . . The pope has an easy conversational style that moves effortlessly between folksy sayings and erudite allusions, between common-sense logic and impassioned philosophical insights.”—Michiko Kakutani, The New York Times “What makes his book most moving is the way in which this man, without disrespecting his own privacy or offering false bromides of modesty, opens the sacred space of his conscience to explain how he came to center his ministry, and now his papacy, around mercy.”—James Carroll, The New Yorker “As he has done throughout his papacy, Pope Francis shows in this book a compelling way to present God’s love anew to a skeptical world without denying the ancient teachings of faith. But now he is challenging the entire Church to trek a new way forward.”—Time “Francis enjoys sharing personal stories of God’s grace and mercy in the lives of parishioners from his native Argentina, people he has known and who have recognized themselves as sinners.”—The Washington Post “Powerful . . . Francis’s book signals a plea for a change of attitude on the part of the faithful and their pastors. . . . Bishops and priests will talk and quarrel over the text for months, even years to come. And that, perhaps, is what Francis intends.”—Financial Times “Deepens his calls for a more merciful Catholic Church . . . The question-and-answer book is told in simple, breezy language, with the pope referring to experiences and people in his own life.”—Newsday “Francis has offered his most detailed outline yet for the role of the Catholic church in the modern era.”—National Catholic Reporter Translated by Oonagh Stransky

This book will help you to pause and marvel at Jesus, whose now-glorified wounds are a sign of his unfailing love and the decisive victory that he has won: “He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” (Isaiah 53:5) This book can be used as a devotional. Book Synopsis The Gospel of Love According to Juan/a by : Bishop Pablo Virgilio S. David, DD
Download or read book The Gospel of Love According to Juan/a written by Bishop Pablo Virgilio S. David, DD and published by ST PAULS PHILIPPINES. This book was released on 2017-07-10 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the second in The Gospel According to Juan/a series. Like its precursor, The Gospel of Mercy According to Juan/a, it is a compilation of true-to-life stories and reflections from the perspective of the Filipino every wo/man. It is intended to be read as a prequel rather than a sequel to The Gospel of Mercy because love encompasses all virtues. It is only through the eyes of love where one can truly appreciate all that is good in the human spirit. In this day and age when there is but a thin line between virtual and real, one is hard put to see through the layers of filters that post-modern and post-truth civilization offers. To those who may find themselves lost in this maze, this book serves as a signpost that directs one back to the primary source of love, mercy and compassion—the God who loved us first, Jesus who taught us how to love, and the Holy Spirit who continually prompts us to keep loving despite the challenges and distractions.

Book Synopsis Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy by : Mark Vroegop
Download or read book Dark Clouds, Deep Mercy written by Mark Vroegop and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2019-03-14 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lament is how you live between the poles of a hard life and trusting God’s goodness. Lament is how we bring our sorrow to God—but it is a neglected dimension of the Christian life for many Christians today. We need to recover the practice of honest spiritual struggle that gives us permission to vocalize our pain and wrestle with our sorrow. Lament avoids trite answers and quick solutions, progressively moving us toward deeper worship and trust. Exploring how the Bible—through the psalms of lament and the book of Lamentations—gives voice to our pain, this book invites us to grieve, struggle, and tap into the rich reservoir of grace and mercy God offers in the darkest moments of our lives.
Download or read book Luke written by Kevin Perrotta and published by Loyola Press. This book was released on 2010-06 with total page 113 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book of Luke has been described as one of the most beautiful books ever written, and Luke: The Good News of God's Mercy brings this beauty to life for teens as they study the life of Jesus and what Jesus can mean for their lives. Luke s Gospel deals with the issue of being open to God s work through Jesus. Luke shows us that God has made salvation available through Jesus birth, life, death, and resurrection. In many ways, God s action through Jesus was unexpected, even for the Jewish people of the time. The salvation Jesus brings goes far beyond what people were looking for. It also makes demands on those who accept it. So we meet people in Luke s Gospel who are astonished by Jesus. They are struggling to understand what Jesus was offering them and how they should respond. In the Gospel of Luke, we make contact with a will other than our own. God shows that he is not a spectator-god who made a DVD of the universe billions of years ago and now sits back to watch. God has a loving plan; God makes things happen. It is this active, involved God who comes to Mary and tells her about his plan for her in Luke s Gospel. As we begin reading the Gospel of Luke, are we prepared to meet this God? Designed as a guided discovery, Six Weeks with the Bible for Catholic Teens introduces high school students to books of the Bible by integrating the biblical text with insightful questions to help youth discern what Scripture means for their lives today. The series provides students with a clear explanation of Biblical text, opportunities for prayer, and a means to enter into conversation with God. "

Book Synopsis Lord...Have Mercy on Me by : Dr.Jesus Humberto Enriquez Rubio
Download or read book Lord...Have Mercy on Me written by Dr.Jesus Humberto Enriquez Rubio and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2014-05-23 with total page 193 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is Book No. 3, as well as the last book in the collection untitled WHAT IS THERE BETWEEN GOD AND MAN This series represents the fifty years of my life I dedicated to search and investigate literature in order to find everything I could about God and his relationship with man. Throughout these years, I worked with an open mind, putting aside all paradigms and biases, and I discovered very interesting things that led me to a number of conclusions that were surprising even for me. I found out, for instance, that Jesus Christ is the result of a legend created by Saul of Tarsus (Saint Paul) almost three hundred years before Emperor Constantine I (the Great) adopted Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire. I also learned that the divinity of Jesus Christ was agreed upon at the Council of Nicaea in the year 325 A.D., being promoted and agreed to by the emperor. Christianity became the property of the empire and one hundred years afterwards, the Roman Empire became property of the Catholic Church, with the pope as leader. The pope performs the functions of Roman Emperor to this date. I also discovered that the church worships three gods: Jesus Christ, who is a legend in itself; Jehovah, because the whole Bible is a book that talks about him and his relationship with Judaism; and God, the almighty father. Christianity confuses and mixes these three gods. I also found out that the act of consecration during mass represents the sacrifice and dismembering of Jesus Christ as an offering to Jehovah, and that all Catholics are happy with this crime because Jesus Christ, upon being sacrificed, gets rid of all the sins committed by everyone present. The assembly finishes by eating his flesh and drinking his blood, similar to a voodoo ceremony or to an act of cannibalism. There are many other things you should take the time to consider.
