Book excerpt: In this fascinating account, Luigi Muscas documents the testimonies of his father, grandfather and many elders of his village in Sardinia who knew the stories of the "walking" stars, the tombs of Giants, and the sacred rites and rituals practiced in the area for generations.Growing up with the awareness of this history, Luigi had confirmation of these events through his own encounters and experiences and those of many others. During his lifetime, Luigi has witnessed the changes to these rural towns brought on by the advancement of technology. He has also witnessed the government "cover up" of the many sightings and discoveries by the locals. The Giants of Sardinia: Visitors from the Stars includes not only Luigi's first hand accounts and the stories passed down to him, but the testimony of many witnesses who have experienced, over decades, the mysteries of Sardinia. This book is a document of the rich history of the Sardinians, and a testament to a people and a knowledge that is fast disappearing. Includes many pages of artwork inspired by this history and sightings.

Book excerpt: Suppose you could communicate with a visitor who was not from this place, time-space or even this dimension? What would you want to ask them? The answers probably lie in what our own response would be if we were them. This book is based on a collection of interviews I have had with a few individuals who may have actually had such an experience. The idea is that if enough of us are ready to ask the questions and gain the answers, then our collective knowledge and understanding of the "multiverse" about us can only continue to be enhanced. Sometimes the responses that you will read here are similar; often they are diametrically opposed to each other. An open but highly skeptical mind is extremely necessary if you are going to sift through the data that is presented in this book. The intent is that it should peak your curiosity to learn more about "visitors." In this way, we may be better informed and prepared, and thus in some sort of coherent shape to deal with their arrival. If you read this book, you must be well prepared to choose for yourself what you will or will not believe.

Book excerpt: Doing and Being confronts the problem of how to understand two central concepts of Aristotle's philosophy: energeia and dunamis. While these terms seem ambiguous between actuality/potentiality and activity/capacity, Aristotle did not intend them to be so. Through a careful and detailed reading of Metaphysics Theta, Beere argues that we can solve the problem by rejecting both "actuality" and "activity" as translations of energeia, and by working out an analogical conception of energeia. This approach enables Beere to discern a hitherto unnoticed connection between Plato's Sophist and Aristotle's Metaphysics Theta, and to give satisfying interpretations of the major claims that Aristotle makes in Metaphysics Theta, the claim that energeia is prior in being to capacity (Theta 8) and the claim that any eternal principle must be perfectly good (Theta 9).

You will discover what it was like to be a tourist in the sixteenth century from the voices of people who came to London during Shakespeare’s day. You will travel with them to the major tourist sights and will learn how to get about, where to stay and what to eat and drink. You will visit the royal palaces, London’s famous gardens, the Tower of London and Old St Paul’s Cathedral. You will discover the pleasure of London’s theaters, the sports people played and the shopping they enjoyed. As now, London was famous as a shopping destination. But beware, London is full of people who will pick your pockets or trick you out of your money and you are constantly at risk from the plague or even the polluted water supply. Most of the London Shakespeare knew has been destroyed by fire, war and developers, but a surprising number of buildings and places he knew still survive. The book contains guided tours that allow you to sample the atmosphere and see the sights Tudor tourists enjoyed. This title will appeal to Shakespeare lovers, social history fans, fiction and drama lovers, students, and anyone with an interest in this fascinating era of London’s history.

Book excerpt: The mysteries of strange visitors is explored, revealed and recounted by two respected experts on the unexplained and paranormal. Are we alone or are there intelligent life-forms out there? Or are they already amongst us? Can we even know the Truth? Exploring the myths, stories, history, and facts of documented encounters, mysterious experiences, and unexplained visitors, Real Visitors, Voices from Beyond, and Parallel Dimensions by Brad Steiger and Sherry Hansen Steiger examines the “other” forms, entities and beings inhabiting our universe. Building on their decades of research into the paranormal, mystical, and supernatural, the Steigers analyze the influences and theories behind these mysterious “visitors,” whether they appear as aliens, ghosts, spirits, angels, demons, monsters, or some other form. The visitors have been called metaterrestrial, extradimensional, interdimensional, ultraterrestrial, and supraphysical intelligences, but regardless of the label, these inscrutable existences have left their mark on the people they've met—and a host of weird, wondrous, and horrifying stories. There are more than 200 thought-provoking stories that make you wonder about the Truth, including ... A U.S. Air Force jet chasing a UFO in the form of a blue fireball A ten year-old's encounter with an angelic, beautiful, glowing girl in the woods A troubling figure from the Spirit World spreads an eerie cold light A medieval monk, with a long, flowing robe and a huge hood covering his face An out-of-body experience and directions to utter a prayer that ultimately saves a life A visit from a recently deceased grandmother As well as stories on time-travel, strange energies, dreams, meditation, unidentified terrestrial life forms, and more. Tracing the perplexing and lasting effects of these otherworldly beings, Real Visitors, Voices from Beyond, and Parallel Dimensions exposes their power and reach throughout centuries of legends, myths, and today's world. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The folktales and myths of the Iroquois and their Algonquian neighbors rank among the most imaginatively rich and narratively co-herent traditions in North America. Inspired by these wondrous tales, Anthony Wonderley explores their significance to Iroquois and Algonquian religions and worldviews. Mostly recorded around 1900, these oral narratives preserve the voice and something of the outlook of autochthonous Americans from a bygone age, when storytelling was an important facet of daily life. Grouping the stories around shared themes and motifs, Wonderley analyzes topics ranging from cannibal giants to cultural heroes, and from legends of local places to myths of human origin. Approached comparatively and historically, these stories can enrich our understanding of archaeological remains, ethnic boundaries, and past cultural interchanges among Iroquois and Algonquian peoples.
