Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Flintstones Management helps managers to manage an organisation in a humane way. It is important to understand the balance between human governance and corporate governance. The concepts of professionalism, integrity, values are grounded as the fundamental of human beings. Unfortunately, with the influence of society, the humans start to lose themselves and start to do “wonders” to gain more tangible materials. The terminologies such as materialism, temporal, greed, profane and secular are designed to address the dramatic change of this society. Humans manage organisations without the concept of humanity. Corporate governance is created to address these issues in the organisations. Sadly, does the concept of corporate governance helps in a real practical world?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a thought-provoking case for looking at human resource management from an entirely different perspective. In the modern world, organizations have to optimally manage resources to achieve the best results, and the best way to do this is to identify humans as instruments of investment and not as resources. Humans use resources in an activity. Managing people, as a subject, was first studied as part of personnel management, and became known as human resource management (HRM) in the early 80s. However, the basic principles remained largely unchanged. The book argues that it is time that HRM is replaced by human investment management (HIM), where the entire approach of employee management in an organization shifts gears to human investment in activities. In this approach no human is considered bad in relation to an organization, if selected appropriately, and trained well. Everyone is productive, though the returns may differ. Humans can be invested in areas where they are best or can be trained to be the best according to various factors. Unlike any other investment instruments, humans’ value can be continuously upgraded for higher returns. Thus the core of HIM is to maximize the return from each employee as an individual or as a member of the group with minimum expenditure and effort in him or her. HIM can therefore reengineer and replace HRM slowly and steadily at the desired pace where maximum attention is paid to employee investment for improved results. This is unlike HRM, which primarily focuses on employee relations. Turning around HRM to HIM will be the first step in inclusively aligning strategic human resource management with the overall human management. As such, HIM should be seen as a process by which the asset or capital value of individual humans can be increased by turning them into capital humans, an entirely different outlook from the oft-used term human capital.

Book excerpt: Fred and Barney reunite for Mark Russell's modern take on Hanna-Barbera's most famous stone-age family! This new series starring the first family of Bedrock (and civilization, really) tells the story of who we are and why we do what we do as if it all began with Fred, Wilma, Barney, Betty, and the rest of the citizens of Bedrock. Shining a light on humanity's ancient customs and institutions in a funny origin story of human civilization, Mark Russell (PREZ) blends modern interpretations with Hanna-Barbera's classic character's, bringing a breath of fresh stone-age air. Hanna-Barbera has created some of the most recognizable animated characters of all time. As part of DC Comics' re-imagination of cartoons like Scooby-Doo, The Flintsones, Johnny Quest, Space Ghost, and Wacky Racers, these new series will be infused with modern and contemporary concepts while keeping the heart and soul of the classic animation. Book excerpt: This book is a modest attempt to reminisce the author's career as a PTD officer. The author have served 46 years as a government servant, 35 years as a PTD officer and 11 years as the Auditor-General of Malaysia. Not many officers have served that long in the service of the nation. The Pegawai Tadbir & Diplomatik Service(PTD) has been hailed as the nation’s premier service, as successor to the Malaysian Home and Foreign Service (MHFS) in 1972. The MHFS was the successor to the Malayan Civil Service (MCS) in 1966, which was set up in 1921 by the British Colonial Administration. The PTD and its precursors, the MCS and the MHFS, have played a pivotal and strategic role in national development since the nation attained its independence in 1957. It has been responsive to the political leadership of the day, always mindful of its political neutrality obligation. Coincidently, the year 2021, the year the author's little book is published, marks the 100th Anniversary of the MCS and the PTD. Unfortunately, not much has been written about the PTD and MCS. To the best of his knowledge, there were four books written about the PTD/MCS, namely ‘At the Forefront of Nation Building’ by Sheens Gurbakhash & Fiona Ghaus; ‘Taking The Road Less Travelled’ by Datuk Dr Shaari Ahmad Jabar; ‘Service Par Excellence’ by Datuk Wan Mansur Abdullah; and ‘Tun Abdullah Ayub’ by Fatini Yaacob and Toh Puan Anna Abdul Ranee.
