Book excerpt: Fated to the Feral , this is Book 1 of The Feral Beast Series Marked for Revenge, this is Book 2 of The Feral Beast Series Ellis Harrington also known as the ‘feral’ person, is an enigmatic and legendary woman. Most of the men have chosen to keep off from her reputation as a wild one; she moves like a beast which is untamed. Therefore, she has always been a terrifying figure who seems to be independent having no fear for anything or anyone in this world. She resides on the fringes of civilization and prefers the wilderness. Presently comes Callum Hartley, equally endowed with charm and willpower. To him it’s not about danger but rather an irresistible challenge. This guy knows how to make best use of opportunities when dealing with Ellis; he loves uncontrolled life too much plus he believes that he can change her spirit as tough as nails. This is more than just curiosity since it stems from something deep within Callum wanting to get into the heart of this feral creature. Nevertheless, Ellis does not easily succumb. She has had to go through painful situations throughout her entire life and never gives trust blindly. In addition to her savage defences Calum will have many miles of untamed jungles before reaching out for her heart which happens to be in the woods where she lives at. As they draw nearer together, he learns that it’s not about remaking Ellis but rather appreciating what she truly represents as well as grasping it tightly.

In the years following a calamity known by many names, the land of the felines known as Dásos, the realm of the Eternal Jungle, has become a target of the Prodavian Empire, who seek to use the land for their own purposes. Many have been taken into enslavement, working fields that now feed the ape-men of Prodavus, and ten years after the calamity they continue to toil for them. All but one defiant soul. A young panther woman will defy her oppressors, renew the spirits of her people and step forth into a world that is rapidly mutating beyond the recognition of its inhabitants. Rising from a simple huntress to a survivor of horrors that mold the future of the continent, the name of this brave youth will be burned into the minds of the Baruun people, as she forges her own path... Book excerpt: THE FERAL SWAN tells of epic adventure, during a journey through the land of myth. In parallel, there unfolds the impact on plot of the maturation of symbolization in adolescence and in people of mature years. The prose is near poetic. The story is strong. Carl, a student, who escapes into fantasy when frustrated, tries to rewrite an epic poem as a novel. He decides to use his own fantasies in place of needed research. He adds a great battle for the castle at Inbal to illustrate how cowardly is a king. He adds new characters to challenge the reason for the quest of the king's general, the hero of the epic poem, Sadak. He has been sent on the quest to find the "waters of oblivion" which will erase his own image from its place in the memory of his wife. She has been abducted by the lecherous king, a man who is dependent on Sadak's strength for the safety of his kingdom. The epic hero enters the world of the dead, and returns to the land of the living with the elixir. During his return to life, Sadak is confronted by the spirit of a companion, who had been lost to the sea from their ship. The man, realizing that he has nothing to return to, rejects requests that he rejoin the living. Sadak continues to his home. On the way he replaces the elixir with poison. The king seizes the potion for himself, and dies. Carl's subterfuge is discovered. He learns to respond to reality, gives up dreaming, marries his girlfriend and gets a job writing fantasies for the movies.

Book excerpt: This is a story of how a sages staff that blossomed in white petals two thousand years ago gave the Earth and humanity a valuable spiritual nudge in 2054. The sage was Joseph of Arimathea, famous for providing a tomb for the crucified Jesus. But hes also legendary for arriving in Celtic Glastonbury in the first century AD, where he established the first Apostolic church in Britain. Joseph also introduced the Grail Knight Fellowship and the Christ Light transmission. Immortal, hes been the chief magus of the Quest for the Holy Grail ever since and the leader of an esoteric academy spanning the centuries that trains people to use the authentic Christ Light to rebalance the planet. It all comes down to a flowering white staff, and its a staff made of Light. Its blossoms are blazing diamond-white fire, and its called the White Crown. But Joseph is not the only one with a staff. All Grail Knights have one, and thats how they combine Christ alignment with Earth energies, as Edward Burbage found out. Hes an established Boston book editor who sets off with two companions on a four-year immersion in the powers and uses of the flowering white staff. The story begins in the year 2050, and the world is still reorganizing itself along better lines than it has seen in millennia since the Golden Age finally began in 2020. But it still needs a few expert nudges from the white staff to keep it on track. Edwards initiation into how you do this with the white staffs power takes him to Nebraska, Iowa, Glastonbury, Ireland, Gozo, and Greece. Along the way, he learns the true story of the Holy Grail, how Irelands original gods brought the Grail from the Andromeda Galaxy, and how their allies, the famously enigmatic 24 Elders, guide the Earths secret destiny. But Edward will have to deal with their enemy, Klingsor, the trickiest, nastiest, most deviously clever Grail Killer.

Book excerpt: During the past several decades, interest in children’s psychological disorders has grown steadily within the research community, resulting in a burgeoning knowledge base. The majority of the attention and funding, not surprisingly, has focused on the more prevalent and well-known conditions. Although this raises the odds that young people with more well-known disorders such as ADHD, autism, and learning disorders will receive much-needed professional assessment and intervention, children with less frequently encountered disorders may experience a higher risk of misdiagnosis and inappropriate treatment. Useful data has been scattered throughout the literature for severe-but-less-frequent childhood psychological disorders, including: fire setting; gender identity disorder; impulse control disorders (i.e., kleptomania, trichotillomania, intermittent explosive disorder); selective mutism; Munchausen by proxy; childhood schizophrenia; gang involvement; sexual offending; self-injurious behavior; and feral children. This concise volume offers up-to-date information on these conditions, which, though relatively rare, may have profound effect not only on the children themselves but also their families, friends, and the community at large. Coverag e of each disorder is presented in an accessible format covering: Overview and history. Description and diagnostic classification, with proposed changes to the DSM-V. Etiology and theory. Assessment tools and interview protocols. Commonly used psychological and pharmacological treatment options. Current research issues and directions for future investigation. Assessing and Treating Low Incidence/High Severity Psychological Disorders of Childhood is a must-have reference for researchers, clinicians, practitioners, and graduate students in clinical child and school psychology, pediatrics, psychiatry, social work, school counseling, education, and public policy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book draws together, for the first time, the published research on the behaviour, ecology and welfare of elephants living in zoos, circuses, logging camps and other captive environments in a single comprehensive volume. It takes a multi-disciplinary approach, considering the work of zoo biologists, animal behaviour and welfare scientists, veterinarians, philosophers, zoo educators, tourism specialists, conservation biologists, lawyers and others with a professional interest in elephants. Elephants under Human Care: The Behaviour, Ecology, and Welfare of Elephants in Captivity is a valuable resource for zoo biology and animal welfare researchers. It is also useful for students and zoo professionals and managers looking for a comprehensive guide to current research on captive elephants. Although not intended as a husbandry manual, the book discusses some of the elephant welfare standards developed by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) and the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA) and their relationship to current knowledge of captive elephants. - Includes results of captive studies compared with field studies of wild elephants - Features original images of elephant behaviour as they live and behave under human care - Includes results of the author's original research including many original photographs - Considers future implications of research for the welfare and conservation of elephants, both for elephants in captivity and those living in the wild
