Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Farmer and the New Day To the "Old Guard" of the Michigan State Grange; to those still living and in memory of those who have passed beyond: To Jonathan J. Woodman, Cyrus G. Luce, Thomas Mars, George B. Horton, Mary A. Mayo, and others of the leaders of a quarter century ago: I sat at their feet as a young man fresh from college; under them I took my most valuable graduate course; from them I learned the character of the American Farmer of the best type, his problems, his aspirations, his faith; from their plans and labor for the upbuilding of agriculture and farm life I gained the desire to see the rural problem as a whole and to discover the fundamentals of its solution: To them and their many loyal and earnest contemporaries I dedicate this effort to express my convictions concerning the ultimate welfare of the American Farmer. There stands Martin with his clothes, still drenched in blood. The farmer and his wife stand before him shocked. The woman screams when she sees the blood. Deep grooves are engraved on Martin’s pale face, from grief and suffering. ‘Sir, please can you help me? My baby fell off the wagon, and the iron wheels have crushed him. My wife faints continually, and I haven’t got anywhere else to go,’ Martin pleads with the farmer.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What makes this book to be so different is the fact that reading it will take everyone to a 'serious-but-fun journey' in order to find the way of how to develop a great career A-N-D at the same time also a good personal life. The very first questions everyone asks to him or her self each day would be: Whether I satisfy with my business or career successfulness? Whether that successfulness does not bother my Personal Life? Whether I wish a well-balanced life both in my Business-Career Life A-N-D my Personal Life? And since the questions are intended to ourselves, then we certainly know the true sincere answers. In short, everyone must be asking over: can I get BOTH my businesscareer A-N-D personal life successfully? There are so many people who succeeded to step up their career ladder, BUT failed to balance that successfulness with their personal high quality of life. There are so many people sacrificed their personal life to run for their career. On the other hand, there also are so many people whom seen to be having good personal life, BUT failed to develop their career. Your business-career successfulness is meaningless if you have to disregard your personal life. At the same time; making account of your personal life cannot give you a truly satisfaction if you fail to reach a good career or a success business. That's so serious! And what is the fun? Do you still remember the story about Sir Isaac Newton when he witnessed a natural event, while an apple fallen down the ground in the farm? In the eyes of most people, that event represents a very ordinary matter. Isn't it true that apple has been falling to the ground since the era of our ancestors' yore? Even, since the first time those apples exist. That's the way most people look into natural phenomena. By contrast, for Sir Isaac Newton, every natural event represents series of special messages, and encoding certain hiding secrets to the wellness of human being. Rather than thought like ordinary people did, Isaac Newton preferred to try to open his mind whereof what happened with that apple. And through that contemplative way, he could deliver a great masterpiece, which is: gravitation forces law. Is there anyone staying out of the law of gravitation force? No. That is one of masterworks inspired by natural phenomena. We may not be as analytical as Newton when witnessing something happened around us. But, it does not mean that we cannot find any lesson from the event. If we are willing to think and contemplate to find the lesson behind it, hence we will find its benefit to help us to build our better life. By the way, do you comprehend what is the philosophy of the cock's crow? What about the hum a bamboo clump croons? Or may be the dormant trees as we can easily find in autumn? Or the egg's shell? String beans? Tomatoes? Trumpet flowers? Have you met a guru told you about the philosophy of Banana Tree? Or the advice tried to convey by a clump of Aloe? Weird, eh?! Yes, this book is e-x-t-r-e-m-e-l-y weird. Thus you will find so many things that you never ever found, read, nor heard before. Anywhere. A-a. You may ask around: What makes the book beneficial for the readers in order to grab a Well-Balanced of BOTH their career A-N-D personal life. It is the fact that this book shows you; how to learn from natural events happened around you to experience and find the secret to make you strong, happy, alive, motivated, tough, unbreakable, enchanted..........like Newton did. And LINKS it to your actual daily life. BOTH in Personal Life A-N-D Business Career Life of yours. Not to mention: How to hear the Divine voice in your heart. In short, this book is covering four important areas in human being's daily life: (1) P

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The breathtaking number of mergers and joint ventures among agribusiness firms has left independent American farmers facing the power of an increasingly concentrated buying sector. The origin of farmers’ concern with such economic concentration dates back to protests against meatpackers and railroads in the late nineteenth century. Jon Lauck examines the dimensions of this problem in the American Midwest in the decades following World War II. He analyzes the nature of competition within meat-packing and grain markets. In addition, he addresses concerns about corporate entry into production agriculture and the potential displacement of a production system defined by independent family farms. Lauck also considers the ability of farmers to organize in order to counter the market power of large-scale agribusiness buyers. He explores the use of farmer cooperatives and other mechanisms which may increase the bargaining power of farmers. The book offers the first serious historical examination of the National Farmers Organization, which fully embraced the bargaining power cause in the postwar period. Lauck finds that independent farmers’ attempts at organization have been more successful than previously recognized, but he also shows that their successes have been undermined by the growing concentration and power of agri-business firms, justifying a new approach to antitrust law in agricultural markets.

Book excerpt: The New Day is the true and transformational story of entrepreneur Charles "Chuck" Curcio, known for his unique and offbeat TV commercials as the Tire King, who parlayed a 500 dollar investment into fame, fortune, and the American Dream. Then God came to him one October day and asked Charles to work for Him, with this simple instruction: "You are to learn about me and about you, and then teach others who they are too". Although initially he resisted, Charles agreed to serve God, and from that day forward his life changed dramatically, ultimately leading him to Delphi University of Spiritual Studies and the incredible world of God and Spirit that can be accessed and experienced directly by all people. In the first part of the book, Charles details his early life and business career, how he became a successful entrepreneur, and the secrets to his success. This is a must read for any serious entrepreneur and business owner. Charles then takes the reader on his own spiritual journey and shares many of the incredible events which occurred along the way, like speaking directly with God, miraculous healings, spiritual phenomena, and the insight and understanding he has gained as a result. As only he can, Charles departs to the reader profound and yet simple spiritual truths and wisdom, articulating the way things truly are, and sharing many things one has probably never heard or realized before, like the Principles of Energy, Life's Journey, Purpose, and Plan, Eternal Life and the Myths of Death, Heaven, and Hell, the Law of Karma, the True Nature and Cause of Dis-ease, and the Spiritual Powers & Gifts You Possess. The New Day is a manual of the Spirit, a spiritual handbook and primer in which you will learn the truth and purpose of life: where you've come from, where you're headed, the spiritual gifts and abilities you possess, how you can develop and express them, and how to bring healing, harmony, and abundance into your life. Simple, straightforward, new, and revolutionary, Charles will give you a whole new understanding, depth, and perspective of who and what you really are, and what life and existence are really about. Finally, the true story of man and God, our spiritual nature and our relationship to the Universe, and the reasons we come to earth, our purpose, plan, and mission. The New Day is an incredible story of Spirituality and Spiritual Awakening, Love, Miracles, Wisdom, and Spiritual truth, providing the reader with a true perspective about life, existence, life's purpose, and the ways things truly are. A spiritual handbook and primer, and a treasure of spiritual truth and principles, The New Day will finally answer the questions man has pondered within from the beginning of time: "Who am I, What am I, and What the heck am I doing here?" So keep an open mind and an open heart, and get ready to know the truth, the truth of life, your life's purpose, the truth of you. And learn how you can bring your own life into harmony, healing, and abundance.

Book excerpt: In the shared setting of fictional Balford, Wyoming, the characters in Darin Cozzens's stories demonstrate both the follies and the virtues of rural Mormons in the late twentieth century. Hewell Penroy is a forty-two-year-old bachelor who, unbeknownst to his mother, falls in love with Benita, the meter reader he has never met. Flynn Darlington plays matchmaker with the youngest of his four unmarried daughters and an itinerant roofer. For all their married life, Rowe Sloan has struggled to supply his wife Vida with enough water for her household, but his crowning effort ends in tragedy. And with high school long past and no taste for college or missionary service, Siler Godwin faces the doom of digging postholes until, as he says, "something better comes up." Yet whatever their quirks and limitations, these characters are, in the end, as thoroughly human as heartache and love.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Architects and engineers can build models to test their ideas - why not managers? In Game Theory in Management: Modelling Business Decisions and Their Consequences, author Michael Hatfield presents a series of mathematically structured analogies to real-life business and economic interaction scenarios, and then, using modern game theory, he shows how to test common managerial technical approaches for their effectiveness. His results are astonishing: if game theory is correct then many commonly-held and taught management approaches and techniques are not only less effective than thought, they are actually detrimental in many areas where they are held to be beneficial. Game Theory in Management also examines managerial implications from network theory, cartage schemes, risk management theory, management information system epistemology, and other areas where the quantification and testing of business decisions can be employed to identify winning and losing stratagems.
