Frousakis and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marital enrichment programs have been gaining considerable recognition in the past several decades. Thousands of individuals participate in these programs yearly. However, the particular effects of enrichment programs are still under investigation, and many remain empirically unanalyzed and their effectiveness undetermined. Also, many dyadic interventions focus on helping couples improve their communication skills and become more socially supportive of their partner. This study explored changes in levels of perceived social support, constructive communication, and marital satisfaction in couples participating in a marital enrichment program, Marriage Alive. Couples who completed all 3 phases of the study (i.e., pre-seminar, post-seminar, 2 month follow-up) were included in these analyses. Results indicated that levels of support, communication, and satisfaction increased by the end of the enrichment seminar for husbands and wives. However, only gains in communication were fully maintained at follow-up. The finding of sustained improvements in communication skills has far-reaching implications, which will be discussed here. This study also explored whether changes in social support from pre-seminar to follow-up mediate the relationship between changes in constructive communication and changes in marital satisfaction; however, this model was not supported. Implications and future directions for the specific seminar under investigation are also discussed.

This book was released on 2017-01-27 with total page 195 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Couples counseling is distinct from individual and family therapy and, while ideas from these other formats may be overlapping, applying theoretical concepts to couples has distinctive challenges. Behavioral, Humanistic-Existential, and Psychodynamic Approaches to Couples Counseling is unique in that it addresses how to conceptualize various theories around a single case. By discussing only one case, the reader is more readily able to compare and contrast the theoretical ideas of each theory, as well as the pragmatics of techniques. Five theories are discussed around four consistent parts: history, theory of problem formation, theory of problem resolution, and case transcript.

This book was released on 2012 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For many couples, marriage begins as a source of happiness and fulfillment, but gradually it becomes a source of frustration and despair. Subsequently, they fail to experience optimal level of marital relationship functioning. Positive psychology, a thriving branch of psychology, promotes positive constructs and strategies to enrich the level of well-being of people. In this background, the purpose of this study was to come up with an Integrative-Positive Marital Program (IPMP) for couples and to determine its effectiveness in enriching their marital relationship. The researcher utilized the true experimental research method, specifically between subjects: two independent group design, administering pre-tests and post-tests. This design determines if there were significant differences in the subjects' level of marital relationship before and after the administration of the intervention program. The study used Dyadic Adjustment Scale (DAS) and eight factors of the Marital Satisfaction Inventory, Revised (MSI-R) in measuring the level of marital relationship. A total of 30 selected couples from Caloocan, Metro Manila were randomly assigned to control and experimental groups. The experimental group was given eight weeks long intervention program, IPMP which was mainly anchored on two positive constructs, gratitude and forgiveness. The data analysis was done using mean scores, paired samples statistics, t-test for independent samples and Cohen's d. The statistical analysis between the pre-test and post-test scores of the experimental group showed significant difference and its post-test mean scores indicated siginificant increase in the quality of marital relationship. hence, the study suggests that the Integrative-Positive Marital program (IPMP) was effective in the enrichment of the marital relationship.
