Book Synopsis The Traffic Assignment Problem by : Michael Patriksson
Download or read book The Traffic Assignment Problem written by Michael Patriksson and published by Courier Dover Publications. This book was released on 2015-01-19 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph provides both a unified account of the development of models and methods for the problem of estimating equilibrium traffic flows in urban areas and a survey of the scope and limitations of present traffic models. The development is described and analyzed by the use of the powerful instruments of nonlinear optimization and mathematical programming within the field of operations research. The first part is devoted to mathematical models for the analysis of transportation network equilibria; the second deals with methods for traffic equilibrium problems. This title will interest readers wishing to extend their knowledge of equilibrium modeling and analysis and of the foundations of efficient optimization methods adapted for the solution of large-scale models. In addition to its value to researchers, the treatment is suitable for advanced graduate courses in transportation, operations research, and quantitative economics.
Book Synopsis Integrated Urban Models Volume 2: New Research and Applications of Optimization and Dynamics (Routledge Revivals) by : Stephen H. Putman
Download or read book Integrated Urban Models Volume 2: New Research and Applications of Optimization and Dynamics (Routledge Revivals) written by Stephen H. Putman and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-04 with total page 414 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following on from Integrated Models Volume 1: Policy Analysis of Transportation and Lane Use (Routledge Library Editions, 2006), this book bridges the gap between the scholars and the practitioners of transportation and land-use modelling. First published in 1991, chapters discuss model-calibration and model-solution problems, describe a series of numerical and policy analyses, and propose potential directions for location and land-use research. This reissue will be of particular value to undergraduate and postgraduate geography students with an interest in integrated urban modelling; in particular, the research conducted in the field over the past two decades.
Book Synopsis Texas Travel Forecasting Annotated Bibliography by :
Download or read book Texas Travel Forecasting Annotated Bibliography written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This bibliography is part of an on-going research project between the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The bibliography has attempted to include all significant reports prepared by the Institute in support of urban transportation travel demand modeling and forecasting practice in Texas. An annotation is provided for those reports which still may be of interest to practitioners. Several reports which are now obsolete due to improvements in computer technology are included for completeness and historical interest. In addition several reports prepared by TxDOT which bear directly on travel demand modeling practice are included. The Department reports are not complete and users of this bibliography are requested to provide the Institute with copies of Department reports not presently included so that they may be included in future revisions. The bibliography is organized into six sections: trip generation, trip distribution, traffic assignment, travel surveys, air quality analysis, and overview. Reports are placed in each section according to the phase of modeling covered by the report. However, since the modeling phases are interdependent, most reports will cover aspects of more than one phase. Reports which clearly cover more than one modeling phase are placed in the overview section.

Book Synopsis Urban Traffic Networks by : Nathan H. Gartner
Download or read book Urban Traffic Networks written by Nathan H. Gartner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 376 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The problems of urban traffic in the industrially developed countries have been at the top of the priority list for a long time. While making a critical contribution to the economic well being of those countries, transportation systems in general and highway traffic in particular, also have detrimental effects which are evident in excessive congestion, high rates of accidents and severe pollution problems. Scientists from different disciplines have played an important role in the development and refinement of the tools needed for the planning, analysis, and control of urban traffic networks. In the past several years, there were particularly rapid advances in two areas that affect urban traffic: 1. Modeling of traffic flows in urban networks and the prediction of the resulting equilibrium conditions; 2. Technology for communication with the driver and the ability to guide him, by providing him with useful, relevant and updated information, to his desired destination.
