This book was released on 1967 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The specific objectives of this study are: 1. To identify the institutions involved in the allocation, and distribution of water within Utah, and to describe the functions and responsibilities of each. 2. To appraise and evaluate these institutions with respect to various aspects of flexibility and security: (1) the legal right to the use of water, both quantity and quality, (2) the ease or difficulty with which transfers of these rights between uses and users can be made, (3) the protection against loss of this water right due to lawful acts of others, and (4) incentive to invest in and develop the water resource.

Book Synopsis An Economic Analysis of Demand and Supply for Irrigation Water in Utah by : Mark Holland Anderson
Download or read book An Economic Analysis of Demand and Supply for Irrigation Water in Utah written by Mark Holland Anderson and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Water provides the lifeblood of Utah's agricultural economy. It Is the subject of much controversy and litigation and yet most opinions on the subject are based on opinions and prejudice rather than upon the basis of sound scientific examination. This paper attempts to provide some of the economic information necessary for sound decisions in the development and use of Utah's water resources with respect to agriculture. Utah has been divided into ten drainage regions (hydrologic sub-regions) and the presently irrigated and potentially irrigable land according to land class was estimated for each county or portion of a county within each of the regions. Water use factors, crop rotation constraints, costs of production, yields, product prices, and costs of bringing new land into production were also estimated. These values were then used in the linear program demand model to estimate a normalized demand (marginal value product) curve for water to be used in agricultural production within each region. The available level of water was varied in each of the demand curves to estimate the relationship between the quantity of water and its economic value (a demand function).

Download or read book Annotated Bibliography for Aquatic Resource Management of the Upper Colorado River Ecosystem written by and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The development of water and other natural resources in the Upper Colorado River Basin will continue to have an impact on the ecology of this unique ecosystem. Numerous water-development projects have been completed on the river, others are in progress, and still others are contemplated, to provide water necessary for municipalities, irrigated agriculture, and energy production. Although much information is already available on this river, it is widely scattered in the published literature and unpublished reports of various state and federal agencies. This annotated bibliography contains 1,109 published or readily available unpublished references that should be useful in decisions regarding effective management of the Upper Colorado River Basin. Selected key words were assigned to all references and indexed for ease of locating references on particular subjects.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The major objectives of this study are to determine whether or not future needs for water in the Uinta Basin can be satisfied by the present quantity of water produced by the hydrology of the Basin. The specific objectives are as follows: 1. To determine the present demand for water in the Basin. 2. To determine the present annual quantity of water produced by the Basin. 3. To project the changes in the demand for water in the Uinta Basin resulting from energy, agricultural and other development. 4. To project the changes in the quantity of water available to satisfy these increased demands as successive units of water are made available.
