Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus is a 1902 children's book, written by L. Frank Baum and illustrated by Mary Cowles Clark. In the Laughing Valley, Claus becomes known for kindness toward children. On one occasion, his neighbors' son Weekum visits him; and Claus having made an image of Blinky to pass the time, presents him with the finished carving, calling it a "toy". Soon, the immortals begin assisting him in the production of other carvings: the Ryls coloring the toys with their infinite paint pots (the first toy was not colored). When he makes a clay figure reminiscent of Necile, he proclaims it a "dolly" to evade naming Necile to the children ("doll" results when children shorten the name). Claus presents the first one to Bessie Blithesome, a local noblewoman, after consulting with Necile and the Queen of the Fairies about whether he should give toys to wealthy children. Later dolls resemble Bessie herself; and later still, counterfeit infant girls.
Book Synopsis Life and Adventures of Santa Claus by : Lyman Frank Baum
Download or read book Life and Adventures of Santa Claus written by Lyman Frank Baum and published by . This book was released on 2020-11-09 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: L. Frank Baum's The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus was first published in 1902, two years after his Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Drawing on the attributes of Santa Claus from Clement Moore's 1822 poem "A Visit from St. Nicholas" ("The Night Before Christmas"), Baum chronicles Santa's life from his childhood in an enchanted forest-the same forest that is the source of all magic in the land of Oz-to his destiny of sharing gifts and spreading love to his fellow man. Along the way we witness him making his first toys, learn the origins of the Christmas tree and Christmas stockings, and discover the stories behind many Christmas secrets, like why Santa slides down chimneys, how he picks his reindeer, and how he delivers all his toys in one night. Later adapted into multiple animated films, and published here with the original illustrations from the first edition, The Life and Adventures of Santa Claus evinces the charm, warmth, and fantasy that made L. Frank Baum's Oz stories American classics.
