Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book surveys methods, problems, and tools used in process control engineering. Its scope has been purposely made broad in order to permit an overall view of this subject. This book is intended both for interested nonspecialists who wish to become acquainted with the discipline of process control engineering and for process control engineers, who should find it helpful in identifying individual tasks and organizing them into a coherent whole. A central concern of this treatment is to arrive at a consistent and comprehensive way of thinking about process control engineering and to show how the several specialities can be organically fitted into this total view.

Book Synopsis FPGA-based Implementation of Signal Processing Systems by : Roger Woods
Download or read book FPGA-based Implementation of Signal Processing Systems written by Roger Woods and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-10-13 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) are an increasingly popular technology for implementing digital signal processing (DSP) systems. By allowing designers to create circuit architectures developed for the specific applications, high levels of performance can be achieved for many DSP applications providing considerable improvements over conventional microprocessor and dedicated DSP processor solutions. The book addresses the key issue in this process specifically, the methods and tools needed for the design, optimization and implementation of DSP systems in programmable FPGA hardware. It presents a review of the leading-edge techniques in this field, analyzing advanced DSP-based design flows for both signal flow graph- (SFG-) based and dataflow-based implementation, system on chip (SoC) aspects, and future trends and challenges for FPGAs. The automation of the techniques for component architectural synthesis, computational models, and the reduction of energy consumption to help improve FPGA performance, are given in detail. Written from a system level design perspective and with a DSP focus, the authors present many practical application examples of complex DSP implementation, involving: high-performance computing e.g. matrix operations such as matrix multiplication; high-speed filtering including finite impulse response (FIR) filters and wave digital filters (WDFs); adaptive filtering e.g. recursive least squares (RLS) filtering; transforms such as the fast Fourier transform (FFT). FPGA-based Implementation of Signal Processing Systems is an important reference for practising engineers and researchers working on the design and development of DSP systems for radio, telecommunication, information, audio-visual and security applications. Senior level electrical and computer engineering graduates taking courses in signal processing or digital signal processing shall also find this volume of interest.
Book Synopsis An Introduction to Wavelet Modulated Inverters by : S. A. Saleh
Download or read book An Introduction to Wavelet Modulated Inverters written by S. A. Saleh and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-03-16 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: AN INTRODUCTION TO Wavelet Modulated Inverters An authoritative guide to designing and constructing wavelet functions that accurately model complex circuits for better performance This is the first book to provide details, analysis, development, implementation, and performances of wavelet modulated (WM) inverters, a novel technique that keeps power systems stable and minimizes energy waste while enhancing power quality and efficiency. Written by experts in the power electronics field, it provides step-by-step procedures to implement the WM technique for single- and three-phase inverters. Also presented are key sample performance results for the new WM power inverters for different load types, which demonstrate the inverters’ simplicity, efficacy, and robustness. Beginning with the fundamentals of inverter technology, the book then describes wavelet basis functions and sampling theory with particular reference to the switching model of inverters. From there, comprehensive chapters explain: The connection between the non-uniform sampling theorem and wavelet functions to develop an ideal sampling-reconstruction process to operate an inverter The development of scale-based linearly combined basis functions in order to successfully operate single-phase WM inverters Performances of single-phase WM inverters for static, dynamic, and non-linear loads The simulation and experimental performances of three-phase wavelet modulated voltage source inverters for different loads at various operating conditions The book establishes, for the first time, a direct utilization of different concepts of the sampling theorem and signal processing in accurate modeling of the operation of single- and three-phase inverters. Figures are provided to help develop the basis of utilizing concepts of the sampling, signal processing, and wavelet theories in developing a new tool and technology for inverters. Also included are easy-to-follow mathematical derivations, as well as procedures and flowcharts to facilitate the implementation of the WM inverters. These items make this unique reference of great interest to academic researchers, industry-based researchers, and practicing engineers. It is ideally suited for senior undergraduate and graduate-level students in electrical engineering, computer engineering, applied signal processing, and power electronics courses.

Book Synopsis Advanced Pulse-Width-Modulation: With Freedom to Optimize Power Electronics Converters by : Dong Jiang
Download or read book Advanced Pulse-Width-Modulation: With Freedom to Optimize Power Electronics Converters written by Dong Jiang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-20 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a technical publication for students, scholars and engineers in electrical engineering, focusing on the pulse-width-modulation (PWM) technologies in power electronics area. Based on an introduction of basic PWM principles this book analyzes three major challenges for PWM on system performance: power losses, voltage/current ripple and electromagnetic interference (EMI) noise, and the lack of utilization of control freedoms in conventional PWM technologies. Then, the model of PWM's impact on system performance is introduced, with the current ripple prediction method for voltage source converter as example. With the prediction model, two major advanced PWM methods are introduced: variable switching frequency PWM and phase-shift PWM, which can reduce the power losses and EMI for the system based on the prediction model. Furthermore, the advanced PWM can be applied in advanced topologies including multilevel converters and paralleled converters. With more control variables in the advanced topologies, performance of PWM can be further improved. Also, for the special problem for common-mode noise, this book introduces modified PWM method for reduction. Especially, the paralleled inverters with advanced PWM can achieve good performance for the common-mode noise reduction. Finally, the implementation of PWM technologies in hardware is introduced in the last part.
