Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1988, I had a dream about this book from beginning to end. I got up and prayed, "Lord, what is going on in my mind." The Lord told me to just write what you see in your dream; I wrote my second page. I felt like I had finished the book, but Gold to me, "No, sleep until you do what I tell you to do." So, I began to write a little more each day. After writing five or six pages, realized God was doing something in my life. The more I wrote the more I wanted to write, so I wrote for days and nights, weeks and months. At one point, I wrote to Oprah Winfrey and asked her to help me with my unfinished book she replied, "Finish your book and then stay in contact because get letters like this from so many people." The staff thanked me for watching the show, but I kept praying and hoping that someday, God would bless me to complete and publish my book. On November 2077, God spoke and said, "It is time to finish and publish your book."This book is based on the life of poor men and women, who were nearing freedom from slavery. They chose to stay on the plantation and not become free because it gave them a place to work. The men and women lived in hut houses, and were allowed days for town, church, and school. Shortly, after the years passed, their children moved away to the North, East, West. Although the men and women began to prosper, they taught them to always tell their children's children about their forefathers encounters.

James Lee Burke, a writer who “can touch you in ways few writers can” (The Washington Post) brings his brilliant feel for time and place to this stunning story of Appalachia in the early 1960s. Here, Perry Woodson Hatfield James, a young man torn between family honor and the lure of seedy watering holes, must somehow survive the tempestuous journey from boyhood to manhood and escape the dark and atavistic heritage of the Cumberland Mountains.

Sharecroppers did work such as picking cotton, planting cotton, and working at the cotton gin. They lived in hut houses. There were days for town, church and also school. Shortly after the years passed by their children move away to the north, east and west. Doing good for themselves, they never forgot what their parents taught them which was to always tell their children's children, what happened during their life time.

During this period Brother Lee remained in Atlanta, Georgia, until June 20, after which he visited Toronto, Canada; and Detroit, Michigan. There is no record of his speaking in the latter two cities. He then traveled to Akron, Ohio, at the beginning of July, and he remained there for a little more than a week before going on to Seattle, Washington. After spending a week in Seattle, he visited San Francisco for a week and returned to Los Angeles at the end of July, where he remained until the end of the third week in August. The contents of this volume are divided into eight sections, as follows: 1. Four messages given in Atlanta, Georgia, from June 15 through 19. These messages are included in this volume under the title Being Saved in Christ's Life and Walking according to the Spirit for the Building Up of the Body of Christ. 2. Seven messages given in Akron, Ohio, from July 2 through 5. There is no record of the speaking of messages 2, 3, and 6 of this series. The remaining four messages are included in this volume under the title Enjoying Christ as the Tree of Life for the Accomplishment of God's Purpose. 3. Twelve messages given in Akron, Ohio, from July 5 through 11. There is no record of the speaking of messages 4, 5, 8, 9, and 12 of this series. The remaining seven messages are published in this volume under the title Gaining People and Building Them Up for the Body of Christ. 4. Thirteen messages given in Seattle, Washington, from July 12 through 18. These messages are included in this volume under the title Enjoying the All-inclusive Christ as the Life-giving Spirit for the Fulfillment of God's Eternal Purpose. 5. Thirteen messages given in San Francisco, California, from July 19 through 25. They are included in this volume under the title Experiencing Christ as the Spirit for the Recovery of the Church as the Body of Christ and the House of God. 6. Eight messages given in Los Angeles, California, from July 30 through August 8. These messages are published in this volume under the title Overcoming the Church's Degradation to Produce the Man-child and the Bride for the Fulfillment of God's Purpose. 7. Twenty-four messages given in Los Angeles, California, in the summer of 1971. These messages were previously published only in English in a book entitled The Visions of Ezekiel. Later, these messages were combined with another set of twenty-four messages on Ezekiel given in Taipei, Taiwan, in the autumn of 1961. The combined set of messages was published as the Life-study of Ezekiel. Neither the Life-study of Ezekiel nor the messages that were previously published in English in the book entitled The Visions of Ezekiel are included in The Collected Works of Witness Lee. 8. Seven messages given in Los Angeles, California, from August 10 through 19. These messages were previously published as a book under the title The Speciality, Generality, and Practicality of the Church Life.

Book excerpt: When the young minister-poet Edward Taylor moved to Westfield, Massachusetts, in November of 1671, he had written several poems. When he died there fifty-eight years later, in addition to thousands of sermons and more than 2,000 manuscript pages of original prose, he had composed some 40,000 lines of poetry. For two of his poetic projects in particular, Taylor is considered - with Anne Bradstreet - one of British North America's most accomplished poets. Daniel Patterson's Edward Taylor's Gods Determinations and Preparatory Meditations: A Critical Edition reconsiders the texts of Taylor's two major works for the first time since Donald Stanford's 1960 edition. This volume also offers the first complete text of all the Meditations that Taylor transcribed into his Poetical Works manuscript. The restoration of Taylor's text, however, is the most enduring value of this edition, which is designed to become the new standard edition of these poems. The scores of substantive variants and the hundreds of variants in matters of punctuation and capitalization existing between the Patterson and Stanford texts are fully reported in the back of the volume, as are all editorial emendations. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., on December 31, 1943, in Roswell, New Mexico. The general public knows him better as John Denver, trained architect, international performer, a man who sings about his experiences of living, and, in doing so, reveals his spirituality. On October 12, 1997, at the age of fifty-three, Denver died in Monterey Bay, California, in a solo airplane crash. Through the lyrics of his songs on more than sixty albums, Denver reveals his spirituality, that invisible force that motivates or inspires his personal spirit and gives insight and meaning to what he did and why he did it. This book is designed to guide the reader through an analysis of John Denver's spirituality, as it is gleaned and categorized according to major and minor themes that emerge from the lyrics of his songs. The reader is invited to experience Denver’s spirituality through a reflection section at the end of each chapter.

Book excerpt: Rain or shine, they will always be best friends, and since one loves the rain and the other loves the sun, the friends agree for one day that they will try to enjoy what the other loves to do most. Cloudy Rain loves to do cartwheels, backflips and splash puddles in the rain. But not Rain Forrest, he hates the rain. He doesn't want to play in it, nor go outside when it pours down from the highest clouds in the sky, and he certainly doesn't want his soggy friend close by when he's been soaked by the rain. Yet, on any sunny day, it's Rain Forrest whose brightness shines. He doesn't want a shady old oak tree, a big beach umbrella, or creamy creams. He simply wants to bake in the sun until he glows like Saturn because according to him "the sun is the mother who tans me." Cloudy Rain fulfills his part of the agreement. While the best friends have many exciting and life changing adventures that will test just how strong their friendship really is, Rain Forrest hasn't stepped up to fulfill his end of the agreement. When the best friends are separated by one of their adventures, and there's a possibility they will never reunite, Rain Forrest steps up, and he takes the biggest of leaps to search for his best friend.
