Download or read book Dare to Lead written by Brené Brown and published by Random House. This book was released on 2018-10-09 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Brené Brown has taught us what it means to dare greatly, rise strong, and brave the wilderness. Now, based on new research conducted with leaders, change makers, and culture shifters, she’s showing us how to put those ideas into practice so we can step up and lead. Don’t miss the five-part Max docuseries Brené Brown: Atlas of the Heart! ONE OF BLOOMBERG’S BEST BOOKS OF THE YEAR Leadership is not about titles, status, and wielding power. A leader is anyone who takes responsibility for recognizing the potential in people and ideas, and has the courage to develop that potential. When we dare to lead, we don’t pretend to have the right answers; we stay curious and ask the right questions. We don’t see power as finite and hoard it; we know that power becomes infinite when we share it with others. We don’t avoid difficult conversations and situations; we lean into vulnerability when it’s necessary to do good work. But daring leadership in a culture defined by scarcity, fear, and uncertainty requires skill-building around traits that are deeply and uniquely human. The irony is that we’re choosing not to invest in developing the hearts and minds of leaders at the exact same time as we’re scrambling to figure out what we have to offer that machines and AI can’t do better and faster. What can we do better? Empathy, connection, and courage, to start. Four-time #1 New York Times bestselling author Brené Brown has spent the past two decades studying the emotions and experiences that give meaning to our lives, and the past seven years working with transformative leaders and teams spanning the globe. She found that leaders in organizations ranging from small entrepreneurial startups and family-owned businesses to nonprofits, civic organizations, and Fortune 50 companies all ask the same question: How do you cultivate braver, more daring leaders, and how do you embed the value of courage in your culture? In Dare to Lead, Brown uses research, stories, and examples to answer these questions in the no-BS style that millions of readers have come to expect and love. Brown writes, “One of the most important findings of my career is that daring leadership is a collection of four skill sets that are 100 percent teachable, observable, and measurable. It’s learning and unlearning that requires brave work, tough conversations, and showing up with your whole heart. Easy? No. Because choosing courage over comfort is not always our default. Worth it? Always. We want to be brave with our lives and our work. It’s why we’re here.” Whether you’ve read Daring Greatly and Rising Strong or you’re new to Brené Brown’s work, this book is for anyone who wants to step up and into brave leadership.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My purpose of this summary is to introduce myself and character. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my document. I come from a strict background family of 15 children with my father who passed away when I was at the age of 16. I knew nothing about nothing concerning life experiences and how to deal with different issues. The only thing we were allowed to do was to go to school and church and we had not friends because we were not allowed to. We were very sheltered and withdrawn from the society. After my father dies in May of 1969, I believe is here it all began with the destruction in our family. It seems my mother was as sheltered and withdrawn as we were. My father over protected us all more tan we probably needed to be. As a result we all seen to have gone tumbling down very fast especially me being I was very close to him. One thing he told me before he died was my ex-husband (whom I net when he was sick and fell overhead for madly in love first and only love of my life). I do not listen to him my ex-husband was taking the place of my father as it seem today than I did not realize that. I had my first child in 1968, my second in 1970 and the last not prepared to have my son in 1972. Not long after that my life began to fall apart because I had no knowledge on how to deal with a man of my ex-husband kind he was suppose to love me and my children that’s what I saw my father do all our life and take care of us. To make the long story short he was a playboy, a drug dealer and you name it he claimed it. It was too late (I thought) I have three children by him and my father is gone. I have never been close to my mother or anyone in the family just my father. So I put up with all the abuse and his nasty life had to offer and made it my life until I got tired. When I got tired I started fighting back (the wrong way) doing things to hurt him (not realizing I would hurt the most in the long run). I was a drinker, tool pills, stole from him and wrote up check then pain I endure with my children. I cant remember what I did not do and at the time I did not care I did anything that would take me away from the problem and him and on top of it all it would hurt him dearly since I was the lady everyone thought was on that red carpet of doing no wrong. Mrs. Righteous was wearing devil ear sticking up. How stupid that was! My God if I can go back and know what I know today familiar words, right? I am so sorry I choose that route. I asked God over and over again forgive me and my children. I can’t began neither can words express how I feel about the hurt I brought on my children for no justifiable reason for the sake of love, I thing not for the sake of being so naïve which you can call dumb. I am so grateful and thankful that I was given a 2nd chance to have a life more bundle. Thank God for the grace and mercy. I was able to get myself together going back to school, educate myself learning about all addiction in the family. How to use of anything (other than deal with the know situation) is a way of medicated the situation to keep from feeling down in it which took me into depression. I now know many constructive ways to accommodate a bad situation or any and all uninvited circumstances or people who are not yet there. Today I can say my life is completely different, I love working with people of all kinds D (color, race, religion). I have a passion for people with a disability especially after seeing a sister and grandchild who grew up with eyes (which is to the soul of your heart) no one seems to understand but my passion and love was driven to and what they need knew how much could related as we did. The love and affection they needed and to be understood with patience. Not only the disability but also seniors, runaway teens, suicidal and the under privilege. I made a hotline you can call for anyone who just needs to talk with someone to get t

From the bestselling author of The Rumor and Who Did You Tell? comes The Dare, an electrifying novel of suspense. “I read The Dare in two big gulps—it’s pacey, has great characters, and there’s a flip worthy of Simone Biles.”—Fiona Barton, New York Times bestselling author of The Widow At the time it was exciting. A game of dare, but one that had motive and justification. Children can be so judgmental, can’t they? I can still hear her cry as she toppled forward, the dull thud of her body as it landed on the pavement. Lizzie and Alice are the best of friends, as close as can be. Until the day when they’re out playing by the train tracks and a childish spat triggers Lizzie’s epilepsy. When she comes to, she finds an unimaginable horror: Alice has been killed. Lizzie is devastated, and as she tries to cope with her grief, she is shocked to find herself alienated from Alice’s friends and relatives, who are convinced Lizzie and “the dare” somehow had a role in her friend’s death. I knew that whatever she wanted me to do, I’d do it. Like that first, dreadful dare. Years later, Lizzie has tried to move on. She’s engaged to a wonderful man and is starting a new life in London. But someone from her past isn’t willing to forgive and forget. And they’ll do anything to pry answers from her. Even if Lizzie doesn’t know them herself.

Charting his 15 years working as a GP, from rookie to becoming a partner in one of the UK's busiest surgeries, Dr Amir Khan's stories are as much about community and care as they are about blood tests and bodily fluids. There is the unsuspecting pregnant woman about to give birth at the surgery; the man offering to drop his trousers and take a urine sample there and then; the family who needs support through bereavement, the vulnerable child who will need continuing care for a long-term health condition; and, of course, the onset of COVID-19 that tested the surgery at every twist and turn. Book Synopsis Dare to Live by : Stephen W. Parcell Nd
Download or read book Dare to Live written by Stephen W. Parcell Nd and published by . This book was released on 2011-02 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Atherosclerosis is responsible for the majority of heart attacks and is the root of coronary heart disease. Plaque buildup in the arteries causes atherosclerosis; luckily, however, through knowledge of our bodies and making small and large changes in the way we live, this deadly condition can be stopped and even reversed. Dare to Live, by author and naturopathic doctor Stephen W. Parcell, brings to the forefront natural, preventive, and medically proven strategies for combating coronary artery disease and its effect on our lives. This is not a diet book or an attempt to push a new fad; Dare to Live is a first-of-its-kind look at atherosclerosis from the naturopathic medical standpoint. Rather than just telling us what to do, Parcell presents in language accessible to everyone the causes of the disease, the rationale behind assessing risk for it, the purpose of the various tests he recommends, and the scientific evidence behind his recommendations. Understanding what our bodies are trying to tell us is the first big step in preventing heart disease, and the next big step-acting on our knowledge-can teach us more than we might believe possible. By pursuing natural, scientific methods, we can keep health close to our hearts and keep a major killer away from ourselves and our loved ones.
Download or read book Fear Less written by Pippa Grange and published by Random House. This book was released on 2020-07-23 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'Pippa Grange has something to teach all of us when it comes to letting go of perfectionism and anxiety, and living with open hearts rather than clenched fists. Fear Less is a total game-changer.' Brené Brown If we were truly free from fear, what could we achieve? We strive for success, but we are rarely happy. The more we try to win - putting on a brave face for work or family - the more we risk losing ourselves. And even reaching our goals can feel strangely hollow. The culprit? Fear. It makes us anxious, or shameful, or turns us into perfectionists. We pretend to be someone else while aiming for a status that's never truly satisfying. There is another way. A way to find our true voice, to win on our own terms. Building that open mindset is at the heart of this mould-breaking book by Dr Pippa Grange, the psychologist who helped transform the England team, taking them all the way to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018. In Fear Less, Pippa Grange shows all of us how, by starting to live with less fear, we can find our real passions and deeper fulfilment. Her simple manifesto enables us to replace stress with courage, and connect with the people around us on a far deeper level. This type of success isn't about trophies or beating others, it's about winning at the very deepest level: winning from within. It's time to fear less.
